Nintendo Direct: E3 2021 - June 15th @ 9am PT

Recommended Posts

And direct over - not as much of interest as past Nintendo E3 Directs, this time around, but that’s fine I suppose

As far as i can tell, only interested in:

Mario Party Superstars

Looks pretty nice and more promising than the previous Switch Mario Party game so far, might pick this one up later on... been itching for a good new MP game

Metroid Dread maybe?

WarioWare Get It Together?
Aside from controlling the characters, It seems more traditional mainline than a spinoff compared to the previous ones we’ve gotten as far as i can tell... ? Though would’ve been nice if there had been 4 players like the GameCube game if that was possible

The Wave 1 DLC for AoC is looking nice - nice to see that Hylian Cycle return - I’ll pick that game bundle up at some point

And BotW 2 is looking quite nice and pretty  - still quite a ways off for that to come out though... gives me plenty of time to continue getting through the first one at least

Which i really need to figure out how to progress in it though

And unfortunately no ports of Twilight Princess or Windwaker HD just yet - probably don’t want to overshadow and want to focus on Skyward Sword HD this year - maybe next year, then

Or a new mainline Mario Kart game - not sure whether i should pick up 8 Deluxe to hold me over or wait...

Maybe I might’ve missed something? Doubtful, though

Part of me thought and expected we would get that “one more thing” at the end - guess not this time though

Granted I didn’t go into it with too high of expectations and hopes, so I can’t say I’m let down by this Direct too much - maybe we’ll see more new things in future Directs assuming we’ll get some more throughout the year

Well, it was better than Capcoms presentation at least from what I’ve heard at least

Maybe not as good or packed as the Wholesome Direct, though - that one might be the best of E3 so far of what I’ve seen

Crazy how BOTW2 is taking 4 years of development, running on the engine of its predecessor built over about 5.

More than what we got from the previous E3, but I was expecting a lot more than just a teaser trailer with brief glimpses of gameplay and yet another Save the Princess story.

I am grateful we got another more extensive look of the world of the sequel of BotW but I have to wonder when are we gonna get the title reveal and release date confirm for 2022. I thought I would be okay if it comes out March 2022 but I have a funny feeling it will be coming out beyond that.

So from that perspective I am disappointed as a massive Zelda fan is why I am impatient if it doesn't come out March 2022.

As DH mentioned the engine of the game as they said even before the trailer reveal would be from BotW but I think the reason this isn't a Majora situation of a slight copy and paste is all the DLC ideas that were to be put in BotW really is taking time to put in the sequel of the world of BotW despite the same engine. That is the only reason I will accept if this releases beyond March 2022. That will unfortunately be past Zelda's 35 anniversary and speaking of that, was the G&W the only 35th anniversary celebration? They didn't really touch or speak on 35th blowout, I guess E3 isn't the place so when and where then Nintendo?!?

Depending on how she gets this new suit (assuming this game takes place after Fusion, there's some explaining to be had here) it could be replaced.  Between the slide and the magnetic upgrade that lets her climb walls that pretty much eliminates basic morphball and spiderball abilities.

There maybe something to this and is a good point that the morph ball seem redundant when you have those two new abilities. Despite that not the biggest Metroild fan or follow the story, even I know and recognize that is a important staple to Samus. I hope in someway the morph ball is still there despite how pointless it may be. I'll accept otherwise explained why it isn't by story suit related or gameplay abilities.

I am really loving this classic remake of the earlier MP titles. This is bringing back so many memories of nostalgia.

This is a insta day one buy and Stars should always cost 20 coins dammit not 10 coins.

Also love the board aesthetics here then the latest ones, that's a plus too. Online with all modes makes this all the better too.

Looking back at the reveal trailer, the Morph Ball is indeed still there... kvhappy;

Also interesting how they mention "concluding the story between Samus and the Metroids" with this game. Eventually I just assumed that Fusion would be the conclusion since it seemed a followup would never happen, but that's uh... Huh.

Have to wonder what happened to stuff like her morph ball too, but I guess we'll find out.

Oh, nvm. There's the morph ball.

Fusion is chronologically the story's current end, right?

Stoked to see more footage of Breath of the Wild 2! Really wish it were coming this year but oh well. And it is a bit of a shame that it looks like it's a solo Link adventure, not a co-op or Zelda-controlled one as many people theorized, but I'm also not surprised if they're just reusing the formula of the first game here. Just having more places to explore and new weapons (and maybe new Sheikah Slate abilities?) has me hyped.

Metroid Dread, hell yes! Couldn't be more excited to see the story of Fusion continued—and apparently concluded—and the game looks great so far. It makes sense that they would continue some of the gameplay mechanics of Samus Returns, and it looks pretty damn snazzy. Such a surprise delight to see the name Metroid Dread again.

Speaking of which, I can't believe I just saw a new Advance Wars game! Well not really new, but they haven't completely abandoned the series, and even though I did play through AW1 and 2 on the Wii U's virtual console I will 100% support any new Advance Wars content, and hopefully convince them to make an entirely new continuation of the franchise.

Those were basically my big highlights of the Direct. WarioWare, Super Monkey Ball, Mario Party, Mario Golf, and Shin Megami Tensei V all look great. I'm surprised to see the Life is Strange games on the Switch but that's cool, I really loved the first one and recommend it. Did not expect to see the Guardians of the Galaxy game on the Switch—oh it's a Cloud-based game, that makes more sense. Astria Ascending looks cool, I'll keep an eye on that one. Kazuya in Smash is…fine. I'm not a big fighting game aficionado, and frankly I like Smash Bros. because it's so unlike normal fighting games, so seeing fighting game characters in Smash is underwhelming to me, but it was a fun reveal trailer.

Watching Mario Party Superstars on Treehouse, the Cake and Space boards look way more fun and exciting compared to the boards in the previous Mario Party Switch game - really gives me high hopes that the other boards are equally good as these two in this game 😊

The ones in the previous MP game looked extremely... square, bland, lacking in creativity and pretty boring looking, honestly...

These two in the newer game remind me more of like how boards looked on the GameCube and previous titles way back then

I’m actually smiling watching this watching them play and having fun with this (which is rare for me) - this game so far reminds me of how I remember older Mario Party games were -  last game i bought was either 4 or 5 on the GCN that had those Star Spirit guys... I forget which one that was though

I think the series went downhill in creativity in ways at some point, though I’m not sure when that was... personally was put off from that one game with the 4-1 Cart gimmick (though i thought the Bowser mode was somewhat neat, though) - but others might have a different opinion on that

I’m really looking forward to this though - the Minigames look pretty fun too - especially will be fun with it having Online play (And I don’t play online too often, honestly...)

The graphics on these updated boards and Minigames look pretty nice and clean, too

Since we have Rosalina in this, i wonder if we’ll see any other new characters in this? Pauline would be nice see

Good thing I didn’t waste money on the previous Mario Party Switch game... going to definitely buy this new one at some point

Yes, to all of this. This is how I feel too.

Despite the improvements in Super Mario Party from the last few MP and before the big online update, I just couldn't see myself getting this game as I said this is a day one buy for me.

When can I preorder?  Because I will most definitely be putting down all the cash for it!

Preorders for the Special Edition don't seem to be up yet, however Best Buy has pre-orders up for the standard edition (along with the eShop, of course)...

*Follow this guy if you want to know exactly when pre-orders for the Special Edition and the amiibo set drop. ;)
