  1. 1. Should porn be allowed on N4A?

    • No. If you want to discuss it, fuck off to Gelbooru or something.
    • No, but there's no reason users shouldn't be allowed to discuss it.
    • Yes, as long as it stays in its own designated board/thread so that nobody is forced to look at it.
    • Fuck yeah!

I personally do not feel that porn has any place in this community.  On that note, if there are topics that are in fact appropriate for the boards featured here, but it may contain content that is NSFW, then as long as the thread is marked as such, then I would consider the same policy as spoilers.  Not everyone wants to see it, so don't force it on them.  Mark your threads as NSFW and use spoilers for any images posted.  Make sure your thread is reasonable, as while there might not be a written rule saying what is and isn't allowed, the staff still reserves the right to remove any content we don't agree with. (you also have the right to appeal anything that you feel was taken down inappropriately)

Examples of where this might be acceptable: If you look at The Spriter's Resource, occasionally some of their sprite sheets contain images that wouldn't be appropriate for children, or otherwise considered NSFW.  In these cases, the sheets with potentially objectionable content are clearly labelled as such.  This is not limited to nudity, but also depictions of excessive violence, blood or gore that would not be safe for kids to be looking at.  At the same time, the graphics are still legitimate sprites and graphics from games, so tSR doesn't outright refuse them.  The same goes here, if it's legitimate gaming discussion, and isn't specifically being posted to be pornographic in nature, then it will probably be allowed as long as it's labeled NSFW as needed.

I have no problem with there being a porn board or discussion of the topic but I concur with others in that it kinda doesn't fit. While we are not trying to be family friendly here at al,l we are at the very least not actively turning away young people or people that may be offended by that material and having a board for this could turn someone off to the forum. There is also the issue of legality but I honestly think that can be solved by simply adding a "you must be 18 to enter" page before actually accessing the site; which just makes people think they've made a wrong turn.

That would be something nice to change I think.

Unless we want this place to end up like The Chozo Sanctuary; A forum representative of an old community, slowly shrivling up as its userbase base becomes less and less active because it does nothing to make itself welcoming to outsiders, newcomers, and young users.

Its seems to me that the rules of "no Religion, no porn, no politics" is a pretty common theme across most of the longstanding and successful forums that I've been to, and I tend to think thats generally a good idea.

If it MUST be a thing, please make it hidden and invite only. That should cover all the bases for any concerned.

I don't know how much an outsider's opinion is valued but i 100% agree with this statement

People can discuss it privately if they want to or something :P

Since the focus of this place is Nintendo games (though other things are discussed), I think porn and the discussion of it should be left out.The reason is because younger users will inevitably find this place and want to join and seeing that type of discussion will inevitably turn people away (thinking back to my younger years, I wouldn't have joined NS2 if I saw things like that). Leave stuff like that to other websites.

If anything, a new member's opinion is valued more in this discussion because it gives us insight into what potential new members value when looking at a new community.  I know I haven't joined a new forum since I joined NS2 over six years ago, so I have no idea what to think about in terms of community growth.

Just to add to that, the reason NS2 died down so much was because of the malicious bug that would often redirect you to a rather... scandalous site other then NS2 itself. We cannot have that same mistake happen here just because someone couldn't keep it in their pants.

bugs in the software have nothing to do with conversations about adult content, nor with anyone not being able to control themselves

all three of those things have nothing to do with each other

It has all the meaning, since it's the first thing a user would see upon arriving. Their overall impression of the site.

Conversations or not, having one thing mess up that impression, goodbye them. I can vouch since I thought the same when I first arrived to NS2 years back.

No, he has a point.

I stopped coming because of the unpredictably NSFW nature of trying to use NS2.
