There's been ongoing back-and-forth about whether or not, in light of trending Pokémon news, previews and the upcoming release of Sun & Moon, the site should have a Pokémon board or not. To decide now and for all time I decided to make a thread poll at Chrom's suggestion. Feel free to share your opinion on why you voted either way.

Editor's Note: I originally had this in General Nintendo, thank you for moving it to Feedback.

Allow me to play the opposition and ask if Ninfora has enough regular users to necessitate forums dedicated to specific franchises. I suppose that Pokemon is popular enough, but couldn't a handful of regularly updated threads work just as well?

Just playing devil's advocate. No real opinion on the matter.

Nothing wrong with that, it's good to ask these sorts of questions.

The amount of users is not much of a concern to me, personally. It's more about how much the users that we do have would have to say about it, to such a degree that it could spread into a significant number of topics. I think there's enough different aspects of Pokémon, even with a primary focus on Sun & Moon, to potentially warrant keeping them together in one place. I can't see the future, of course, but I believe it's worth a try. Whether that's within the week or when the new games release, I figure we can decide that, if enough of us want the board to be made.

If we're ever going to have a board for anything else, this would be it. The Pokémon board was pretty much the only dedicated series board clinging to life even when there wasn't anything going on, and with Sun/Moon coming out soon it's probably only going to get worse.

If nothing else, it would be worth doing just to test the viability of an additional board. If Pokémon cannot succeed as one, then nothing else can.

I really don't see the games generating enough activity to justify not just having it on the Nintendo board.

And what is O Great Majestic Yuki's divine guideline on what makes a board justified, I do wonder.

Opening a temporary Pokémon board seems like a decent enough idea, especially with how much possible discussion there is right now. Then if Pokémon discussion died down in several months, we could simply retire the board and recycle its threads into the General Nintendo forum.

CCH, Chrom and I discussed that possibility early on in the site's life, and it seems like a good solution. Any thoughts on that idea?

Would such a board be preferred as its own separate board, or as a sub board to General Nintendo?

I'd be sort of interested in trying sub-boards since I know NS2 generally avoided them most of the time, but honestly the main index is so tiny at this point that I doubt sticking it on the index would do any real harm. So separate board, I guess.

Yeah, I'm up for main board or sub-board in the General Nintendo board.

But to see how this plays out for the Pokemon Sun/Moon demo out tomorrow, I'd say we go the sub-board route first. See how that works out for the month to Pokemon Sun/Moon release and make an informed decision to make its own board stay a sub-board or archive. I doubt it will come to that last option but I guess @The Guardian Mew will keep a eye on that with his pie charts.

Either I see no harm if it comes to be a board of its own or a sub-board. This different than the discontinued of the help/announcement board and the permission of the creative boards as well. I say this warrants this more a board for the activity it can over time not about what if it wanes or there's too many threads on Pokemon, why isn't there a place to view them all? This simply is a place where all pokefans can come together talk Pokemon.

Isn't this what this about talking about Pokemon for life?
