Your Smash Ultimate 5 pack DLC?

Recommended Posts

As stated in the direct:

1 fighter + 1 stage + music tracks

So, at a bare minimum a fighter + stage and you will need 5 sets.  Bonus if you can throw out music tracks to your picks.

*I won't be picky about echo or not.

************

Mine:

1)Pig Ganon/LoZ & ALttP

Using his trident spear and fireball/magic attacks.  ALSO, incorporate his disappear/reappear teleportation mechanic from those two games.

Stage: Hyrule Castle from BotW with full red fog and haunting music.  I think I'd prefer a straight castle set up but needs to somehow incorporate the grounds and I'd argue a floor trap like you fell through to get to him.

2) Ryu from Ninja Gaiden

He had a good amount of power-ups in his game so s full-board ninja weapon assault is what I'm thinking

Stage: Not sure if I want a cityscape or outdoors but his ability to climb / jump should somehow be part of it.

3)Master/Crazy Hand

Hell, if piranha plant can get in... And he's got moves and is already s part of the Canon of Smash.

Stage: somehow get back to the toy box idea from Smash 64.

4) Non-Specific Action Figure

Whatever his powers were supposed to be and if he actually had none,  then I would assume he would have to have a combination of the Mii Fighter characteristics in terms of sword, gun, and brawl.  His wings would be his recovery.

Stage: Since he is non-specific, I think a stage that looks like something made out of stage builder from  Brawl or 4 would be something to look at.

5) Mike from Star Tropics

Obviously his moves would be centered around jumping and his yo-yo.   I think the yo-yo could work in a few ways but if a fighter is "outside" its range its an attack hit, if you are inside its range when its deployed it is a grab to wrap you up in the line and bring you closer to Mike.  Could also be used as a recovery,  Then, there are all kinds of yo-yo moves like dog walk and whatever so he could spin it around him like Simon does with the whip or whatever.  Yo-yo would also work as grappling recovery kind of thing too.

Stage: I have no idea about what I would consider an iconic stage from his series but that is what I would go with.

*****

If you get my DLC pack you get as a bonus:

6) Arthur from Ghosts in Goblins

Basically, his attacks from Super Ghosts in Goblins.  Also, his colors would be based on his armor sets....even the boxers only one LOL.

Stage: IMO, it would have to be something out of Super G&G.  Final castle?  But honestly I'd like something with the morphing grounds mechanic like from the game.

I decided against including Assist Trophies or Spirits (Sorry, Shantae and Alexandra Roivas), leaving me with the craziness below.

1. Geno, Forest Maze Stage, Beware the Forest's Mushrooms Song

I mean, this is obviously very Geno-heavy in its theme. Let's just get that out of the way early. Geno please.

2. Banjo-Kazooie, Spiral Mountain, Treasure Trove Cove Theme

I see it as a floating platform stage touring the hub level. As for the music, I mean all of the songs, but I'm just picking a personal favorite.

3. Professor Layton, Crown Petone, Descole's Theme

Probably far less likely now than it was when Smash Wii U/3DS came out, I still love the Profesor Layton character. The stage, I'll admit, is an odd one: the Crown Petone is lifted from the Professor Layton and The Eternal Diva, and is an opera house shaped like a crown. I just like the design. As for Descole's Theme? In a series with great music, this is perhaps my favorite piece.

4. Saki Amamiya , Urban Ruins, Ideal

The Sin & Punishment character has gone from recurring Assist Trophy to MIA. Unlike Tingle, he's not on a stage, and unlike Kat & Ana or even Lakitu & Spinies, he hasn't been seen in Spirits mode. With a combo beam sword and gun, his inclusion would disappoint Travis Touchdown fans to be sure, but I'd be down with this pick. The stage, Urban Ruins, is exactly as it sounds, and would be based on the level in Star Successor. I should note the music is not from Sin & Punishment, but another Treasure title, Ikaruga.

5. Chun-Li, Flamenco Tavern, Guile's Theme

I know, another Street Fighter character? If a third is to make it, it's got to be the first lady of fighting games. I add Vega's stage because it's an old favorite of mine, and climbing the fence could provide for a slightly different feel or mechanic than the typical Street Fighter Stage. As for Guile's Theme? Well, haven't you heard? It goes with everything.

I feel like I could rewrite this list with five totally different characters. Multiple times. I'm also not sold on the idea that being a spirit disqualifies someone, but that's neither here nor there.

Of course, there is the obvious problem with my list, which I'll just address: all face serious competition. If Square-Enix gets a rep, does Geno beat out Sora or Chrono? If Microsoft gets in, does Banjo-Kazooie get in over Steve? If Level 5 gets in, would Layton be a priority over Jibanyan? And what about [Any other Nintendo character] over Saki? And if Capcom gets another rep, would they really go back to the Street Fighter well?

Since posting this DLC list, this happened:

Tales of Symphonia - Lloyd Irving

Stage: Tower of Salvation

Music: Beat the Angel, Kratos Battle Theme, Fatalize, Fighting of the Spirit, Like a Glint of Light, Wilderness of Sadness

I thought about using Cress Albane instead since Phantasia was the first Tales game and debuted on the SNES.  But I figured Lloyd might be a better fit as a two handed sword style would at least be more unique than another single sword user plus Symphonia has a really popular history with Nintendo fans.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Elma

Stage: NLA - In Front of Blade Tower

Music: Uncontrollable, NO.EX01, Prog Ares Boss, Noctilum, Oblivia, Theme X/Codename Z Remix

I really wish Rex would have made it in as a fighter but if not him then the next best person would be Elma from XBX.  The stage choice was mainly to have something of a cityscape stage plus they could do something interesting with the countdown timer that exists on Blade Tower in the game.  Instead of its actual in game purpose it could instead be used in Smash to countdown to some kind of stage hazard like a Ganglion attack or something.

No More Heroes - Travis Touchdown

Stage: Heroes Rooftop

Music:  We are Finally Cowboys, No More No More Heroes, Philistine Remix (gotta change up some lyrics obviously), Pleather for Breakfast, Rave On (Killer 7 Cameo Track)

Suda51 really wants Travis in Smash, so why not?  Anyway the stage choice was just kind of a quick suggestion.  It's basically the rooftop where Travis fought the gunman Helter Skelter in the original trailer for No More Heroes which back then was called Heroes until a name change was forced.

Dragon Quest

Yeah, I don't have much to contribute here as this series isn't exactly one I follow all that closely.  But as big as this series is there has to be some representation somewhere.

Hmmm, great topic idea!  Let's see if I can come up with decent answers. Ultimately (for reals no pun intended) most of my most wanted characters since Brawl got in Ultimate. But there are still a few I'd like to see.

1. Shantae (Shantae), Stage: Scuttle Town,  Music: Dance through the Danger, Scuttle TownGBC Intro (or a remix of it), Boss Battle, Cape Crustacean

I'm setting myself up for disappointment but, seeing her as a spirit gives me hope that maybe she could be more. I got spoiled and got most of my Nintendo/First party wants in Ultimate. It's funny because I'm actually being pretty hypocritical here sing I normally don't like third party/guest characters all that much. But at this point Shantae would probably be my most hyped newcomer.

2. Hades (Kid Icarus), Stage: The Underworld. His theme is already in Smash Bros and about my favorite theme from Kid Icarus: Uprising so any other music would be a bonus.  A lot of people suggest Medusa instead, but even though he doesn't have the "classic" lineage to fall back on I really enjoyed Hades in Uprising. He was such a perfect mixture of humor and sinister that I couldn't help but enjoy him. I also like the idea of him being the very last DLC and the trailer mimicking the false credits in Kid Icarus. Sakurai saying "and that's the final newcomer, hope you enjoy the characters" only to be interrupted by Hades saying "now wait just a second."

3. Kystal (Star Fox), Stage: Dinosaur Planet. Her role as an assist trophy makes this pretty unlikely but I've liked Krystal since before Brawl.  Even so, I feel like her moveset is easy to imagine and I'd honestly love to see her. I suppose there isn't much more to say. Star Fox is a series I enjoy but not necessarily one of my top favorites. But I'd still be hype to see her.

4. Isaac (Golden Sun): I don't have an idea for a stage or music for Isaac. In fact, the main reason I choose him is because I have friends who'd love to see him.

5. Nightmare (Soul Calibur), Stage  Astral Chaos, music: Confrontation.  Again coming with a choice out of first party, and honestly a bit out of left field. Soul Calibur is one of my favorite series ever and I'd love to see it back on Nintendo. Nightmare (with a Seigfriend alternate costume) would be amazing. If Bandai Namco got another character I'd expect it to be from Tekken (probably Heiachi realistically). But if there was a chance to get a Soul Calibur Character instead I'd be hyped.

Rave On (Killer 7 Cameo Track)

Well, seeing this was a pleasant surprise. For those who haven't heard it, give it a listen. As for No More Heroes songs, I'd suggest the goofiness of Bizarre Jelly 5, especially if they could keep the vocals in tact.

That said, Smash has had issues with vocals in the past. Snake Eater comes to mind; while it's still a great instrumental track, the lyrics are excellent. We also lose the lyrics in Mysterious Destiny and Tomorrow is Mine from Bayonetta. And somehow, the DK Rap, of all things, also faces new lyrical problems in Smash. As bad as the N64 version was, it at least benefits from being cheesy as all hell. But the remixed version we've heard in Smash? It somehow gets worse with each game.

Sonic seems to be the exception; most of those songs come lyrics in tact.

1)  Isaac/ Matthew/Felix We need a playable GS character, with djinn summons and psynergy attacks.

Stage-  Venus Lighthouse, complete with tidal wave.  Could have certain characters appear as hazards as well.

Music- Venus Lighthouse theme, Mars Lighthouse theme, Chaos Chimera Theme

2) Dixie Kong- Her hair attacks and hovering would make her different enough.

Stage- Lost World Temple from Dkc 2,

Music- lost world theme, disco train, with screams

3) Bass and Treble

Stage- Dr Wily Lab/Gamma Room. Go through the lab, has Gamma as stage hazard.

Music- Wily Castle theme from MM2/MM3

All of the characters I was pulling for are either in already or deconfirmed with this latest Direct.  I'm really hard-pressed to think of anyone else that I want that A) isn't already in the game as an assist trophy and B) is a realistic enough pick to have a shot. So let's disregard B entirely. Here are some characters that I want that will never happen.

1. Django (Boktai)

Stage: Bloodrust Mansion

Music: Solar Boy, Vampire, Black Dainn Fight 1

We already have two Konami vampire hunters. Can we get the one no one remembers? Please? I know his series is finished and forgotten, but it would be so nice to see Django again, complete with the Gun Del Sol, all of his enchanted weapons, his vampire powers from Boktai 2, and the Pile Driver as his Final Smash.

2. Saki Amamiya (Sin and Punishment)

Stage: Brad's Warship

Music: Within Earshot, Risk One's Neck

Just try and tell me watching Saki turn into a Ruffian Gundam for his Final Smash wouldn't be the coolest thing ever.

3. Stocke (Radiant Historia)

Stage: Historia

Music: Blue Radiance, The Red Locus

We don't have an Atlus rep. While the Persona 5 protagonist probably has a better shot because no one played Radiant Historia, if it were up to me I'd love to see Stocke using swordplay, fire magic and some creative use of the White Chronicle. Maybe he could use the Chronicle to regain a stock (heh heh) as his Final Smash or something?

4. Miria (The Guardian Legend)

Stage: Naju

Music: Space Travel, Corridor 1 + 2, Corridor 5 + 6

This will never happen because no one even knows about this game. But how rad would it be to see her with a modernized design? She has moveset potential, too. Between all of her guns, swords, and bombs, she has plenty of weapons, and she could recover by transforming into a spaceship.

5. Let's face it, one of these slots is going to one of the main characters from Fire Emblem Three Houses.

1. Sylux (Metroid)

Stage: Cortex CPU

2. Twintelle (ARMS)

Stage: Sky Arena (potential for Max Brass, Dr. Coyle and Hedlok cameos)

3. Lora and Jin (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)

Stage: Gormott Province

4. Prince Sidon (Legend of Zelda)

Stage: Zora's Domain

5. Elma (Xenoblade Chronicles X)

Stage: New Los Angeles

I guess some of my choices/ideas are the same as some others here but in no particular order,

Dixie Kong: One of the last older Nintendo all-stars that has yet to be added, who as mentioned before, am surprised was not at least an echo fighter.

Stage: Honestly, it could be pretty much anywhere from DKC2, 3, or Tropical Freeze. If she ever gets added, surprise me.

Sylux: The only remaining Metroid choice at this point, content as I may be with all the material the series has in Smash now, but has a pretty cool enough movepool to draw from to be another worthwhile addition. His other palette colors would represent the other hunters.

Stage: Was thinking Vesper Defense Outpost in general but that might be too broad. While it's still the location most iconic to Sylux since it's where Samus first encountered him, perhaps a new area in Prime 4 will be what he comes with instead.

Doomguy/Doomslayer/Doom Marine: Honestly my most wanted 3rd party, and with Doom's history on Nintendo platforms outside of the Doom 3 era, there's plenty to justify for him. Regardless of what might have to be done to tone his violence down some in moveset, I think he would be more appreciated as a 3rd party guest among other gaming icons in Smash than he would guest appearing in any other series I can think of. This fan-made trailer of him in Smash sold me even more, even if it remains a dream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y30WRG1nPao

Stage: Any of the notable locations of Hell from either Doom 2016 or Doom Eternal, but if Hell in general is too graphic for a Smash stage, then one of the UAC space stations on Mars. Maybe even have Mars itself as a transitional part of said stage, where there's low gravity or some environmental gimmick.

Nightmare (Soul Calibur): Aside from maybe Lloyd Irving, my top choice for a Namco character, especially from one of their fighters. He could have Inferno or Night Terror as a final smash transformation. Maybe that drilling move he has with Soul Edge in SC6 as a side special; plenty cool moves of his in the games to draw from.

Stage: Astral Chaos... Like there was anyplace else suited for him.

Lloyd Irving: Since he's already had a Mii costume and the main character of what was an iconic beginning to one of my favorite RPG series, why not?

Stage: Tower of Salvation.

Some of the others mentioned here I would definitely like to see too, but this I guess is what a top 5 list of mine would more or less consist of at this point. Of course, I expect there to be more promotional choices like yet another Fire Emblem character, etc, but in a world where we have Ridley, K. Rool, and Simon Belmont in the base roster, any unwanted characters for me will be of little consequence.

Okay, I needed time to think my DLC 5 out.

1. Geno (Music: Forest Maze, Fight against a somewhat stronger Monster and cheating to kill to birds with one stone for SE; Fight with Culex)

Stage: Nimbus Land (we have too many forest stages, why another sky base one, this I believe is the 2nd one to Skyloft)

2. Banjo Kazooie (Music: Spiral Mountain, Treasure Cove and Freezeezy Peak)

Stage: Mumbo's Mountain

3. Felix (Music: Jupiter Lighthouse, Jenna's battle theme and Saturos theme)

Vale (to embody Felix supposed demise)

4. Impa (Hyrule Warrior version) (Music: Kakariko Village, Hyrule town castle,  Hyrule castle BotW outside)

Hateno Village

5. Wonder Red (Music: The Won-stoppable Wonderful 101 - instrumental, Red vs Blue and Intertwined)

Blossom City (Another Onett city wouldn't be bad put in)

Keep these ideas coming guys ... lots of good stuff.  I also updated my Pig Ganon idea with the addition of using his teleportation ability from those games... you know he'd disappear and the reappear elsewhere in the room shooting stuff at you.

I might try to put out a all-echo 5 pack but I got to nail down some other ideas for Echoes before I go with it.

I haven't played Killer 7 since around the time it first came out so Rave On is one of the only tracks I vividly remember.  I think it's because it's so different and stands out so much from anything else you hear in the game prior but it's good to jam out to, too. :P  Bizarre Jelly 5 is one I remember but I guess I just never knew the title of the song or bothered to listen to that track like I did a lot of others from Desperate Struggle.  Strange because it's a good track, just flew under the radar I guess.

Here is my all Echo Fighter Pack....  lol

*I'm considering a similar or alt version of a character an echo... so some of my ideas might not directly correspond to how Sakurai said what made up echoes in his mind.

1) Dry Bowser / Bowser

He'll still rock the fireballs but since he has technically less weight on him he will move faster and jump higher.  Also, he will add the hammer toss back into the "Bowser repertoire."

Stage:  Probably in NSMBU graphics but a inner Bowser Castle chamber with the retractable bridge and lots of flames and lava underneath the bridge.  All the ash and embers filling the air.  I would envision two to three platforms above the bridge and the bridge retraction trigger to one side where an opponent can get over there and hit it to take the bridge a way for a small amount of time and thus forcing players to use the ends of the stage as platforms or the suspended over the lava platforms to fight on.

2) Dr. Wily / Bowser Jr.

Dr Wily needs to be playable and the fact Bowser Jr's Clown car offers the Echo possibility of Wily in his own little spaceship is there for the taking.  There will be some sort of item drops like Bowser Jr. has but they will be machine enemies or robot masters in mini form to take on opponents.

Stage: IT has to be an inner chamber of a Dr. Wily Castle somehow.  I'd probably agree with my brother about doing something with Gamma in terms of ideas for it.

*I had also thought of an alternate take where it is a Mega Man Boss Rush Chamber  that all the pedestals in front of the chambers are your platforms and at random times "assist trophy like" robot master can come out from any of the chambers to attack players on the screen.

3)  Tetra / Toon Link

Aside from thinking there very well could be more female fighters I think Tetra could offer some unique moves and what not.  I'd have to get back into WW to offer up some better ideas on move choices but I totally buy she'd work.  Maybe incorporate a pirate ship sail into her move set somehow.

Stage:  I am envisioning something around that beach you first start the game on.  Maybe make it a pier with the island in the background and a way to jump or climb up to the lookout tower from that beach.

4) Mrs. Pac Man / Pac Man

I think there could be something altered in how Ghosts are used with her versus Pac Man.  Also, her bow on her head could be used for a move of some kind.  I might would alter her recover and exactly how the chasing the power pellet move would work.  And, if i were to troll, I could see Baby Pac Man used like Toad is with Peach :P

Stage: With the Pac Land stage being total suck and in the opposite vein, the Pac Maze stage being very good and fitting for the series I think her stage should be spiced up to look like something from either Pac Mania or that Pac Man Vs. stage feel too it.  Maybe have random ghosts come through the stage as well.

5) Pauline / Rosalina

My only catch with this is I can't think of something to echo with Luma too but since Pauline could conduct music in SMO then that would equal Rosalina's magic wand control of Luma.  Maybe throw in a barrel toss akin to DK from her first appearance there.

Stage: I think an ode to the first DK game but doing a stage from that game that isn't the first stage.  Maybe a better layout of platforms... Incorporate the knocking out of pegs to drop platforms down (and out?) from the stage?

If I had to make an Echo Fighter DLC list these might be my choices.  I'll add more later, only had two on the brain at the moment:

Pokemon Rival/Pokemon Trainer

Could basically work the same as Pokemon Trainer but switch up the evolutionary forms of the Pokemon.  Whereas Trainer has Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard the Rival can have Bulbasaur, Charmeleon, Blastoise.  Or maybe switch it up entirely and use some of the other Pokemon the Rival uses as Pokemon Champion.  Maybe Rhyhorn, Exeggutor, Alakazaam?  I dunno.

Stage: Victory Road

------

Dunban (Zanza?)/Shulk

or

Rex/Shulk

Ideally, it works using Dunban prior to no longer being able to wield the Monado like he used to but they could probably still get away with using one armed Dunban. Story wise it might not make much sense as Dunban didn't learn all of the Monado Arts that Shulk did though did have a few.

I put Zanza in question marks as it would offer a direct villain for Shulk and adapting Monado Arts would be much easier while adding in some other abilities to still set him apart from Shulk despite the in game connection the two share.

As for Rex it only really makes sense if you get rid of the idea of having a blade in the background supplying power to him.  Basically, the Monado Arts would instead be based on different blades but still bestow the same abilities.  For instance:

Monado Jump is now Roc

Monado Shield is now Blade Nia

Monado Buster is now Pyra

Monado Smash is now Mythra

Monado Speed is now Pneuma

Dunban Stage: Sword Valley

Zanza Stage: Agniratha

Rex Stage: First Low Orbit Station

I'm just spitballing here, but Ivysaur's Bullet Seed and Vine Whip remind very much of Amaterasu when equipped with Rosary Beads.

Which is, of course, a terrible, terrible idea, in that if Okami ever somehow makes it into Smash, she should not be an Echo of Ivysaur. I'm guess, what I intend to suggest is they made Charizard its own fighter in Wii U/3DS, they could make an Echo that Echoes just one of the Pokémon rather than the Trainer as a whole.

I get what you're saying and that would probably be the more realistic route to be honest.  Even so, it would be cool to see how they handle an echo of Pokemon Trainer since he's based off of Red so I went with Blue and he could either be Pokemon Rival or Pokemon Champion I guess. But since Charizard is no longer standalone then maybe an echo of him would be best to kind of fill that void.  But who?

Link to comment

IMO Pokemon Trainer is a tough echo to call...  Echo because its a trainer with 3 Pokemon?  Echo because its three similar type Pokemon?

Or would he/she fall into just being another fighter and doing 3 kinds of Pokemon not used already?  And certainly there are persons within the game to lead batches of 3 Pokemon so.... there are tons of choices for who could be the actual trainer assigned to any particular group.

If nothing else, the removal of the stamina meter does lessen the need for an echo of any of the Pokemon Trainer's three Pokemon, as they can now stay battling without fatigue setting in, lessening that need to switch.

That said, given its appearance and moveset, Charizard might be the easiest of the three to echo, as one could just pick a dragon, and there are plenty to choose from.
