purple_beard
Best horror films to check out this month? Theater, dvd, bluray.... Or, what would you recommend someone to check out? ************** ************** Me personally: Annual tradition is to do Exorcist 1-3 Halloween night. *I might do the 4th/5th if I am in the mood--while good movies, they don't have the enticement like the first 3. I will go through the core Halloween movies 1-5 at some point in the month. *Post 5 in the series: Curse of Michael Myers is ok--like the backstory they got into, H20-- not bad, Resurection was decent as an alternative. *The Rob Zombie ones I never quite got into. Friday the 13ths 1,2, and I believe its 7( the telekinetic girl) are musts IMO. Any of the others I might do as well.... doing the Tommy ____ trilogy. I can't stand 3, Takes Manhattan, and X though--they are trash. A Nightmare on Elm Streets Try to go through the whole series with a emphasis on 1, 2, the one with the kids at the hospital for sleep disorders, and New Nightmare. Silent Hill. *Might do 2nd one. Van Helsing The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. Screams. *1 and 4 are my faves even if 2 and 3 aren't that bad. The Shining. * while I don't own these I did also like from Stephen King: Christine and Maximum Overdrive. Might do some Alfred Hitchcock stuff..... *I've liked The Birds, Psycho, and I think there were a few others. Young Frankenstein for sh*s and giggles. Might do some Harry Potter movies. Tyranogre
Manos: The Hands of Fate. Quote Link to comment
Kezay
Not exactly a traditional Halloween movie but Event Horizon is one that used to creep me out a lot as a kid and even now is still pretty creepy to watch. I mean, it's still a horror film, albeit sci fi horror. Quote Link to comment
Ridley Prime
Aside from what I said for a new film... Bruce Campbell in the classics like Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness. Can’t go wrong there. Doc Brown 1 Quote Link to comment

I mistook that one for the cult hit: Labyrinth starring David Bowie (RIP). The only genuine scary movie I watched was Alien. I'm not a huge fan. ... Oh, wait, I did see the one with the counselors and the kids and Jason... what was that one again... last year. And also ROCKY HORROR! But, that's more campy than horror. I'm bored... so... I don't know if I'd put Alien in the horror category but that is not to say its not scary in parts where the Alien gets is kills. That would be like saying Blade is a horror movie IMO. Yes, I am self aware enough to recall I threw out Harry Potter movies LOL. Quote Link to comment
Link, the Hero of Dreams
Finally watched Halloween 2018. Worth the forty year gap. *drinks lemonade* Quote Link to comment
Eliwood8
I consistently rewatch Over the Garden Wall and Rocky Horror Picture Show sometime in October each year. Though this year I am trying to watch a few more horror movies. So far I've watched Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead. Quote Link to comment

Ridley Prime
As mentioned in the movie thread, it’s great. Gonna have the Halloween theme stuck in my head for awhile again, creepy piano effect and everything. Quote Link to comment
