I feel like Banjo has shot because with Nintendo calling the shots with the DLC. I think we should expect more shocks down the road.

Tho, I never mentioned this in the The Game Awards prediction thread, I said while back before DLC was announced for Ultimate that it would be good idea to announce DLC there before the launch of the game just in a few hours. I never would of thought Persona series would be it. Almost Cloud like with the drop like that.

I am not really sure how Nintendo feels about Banjo. I think there's a decent chance either way but I really haven't seen Nintendo expressing any love towards Banjo. Then again I don't think they publicly can. Though Microsoft has said they would like to see Banjo in Smash.

Didn't see this DLC reveal come tonight. Makes sense though. Looks like I'll have to get into Persona now.

Played a few hours of this game. There really is a lot. This Smash game plays fast. Melee fans should be pretty happy, but then again they are never happy with the final smash product lol. But what I've played so far is really amazing.

Well, I do need SOME SLEEP so...

Ending the night with base roster +

Ness, Captain Falcon, Peach, Bowser, Ice Climbers, Zelda, Marth, Young Link, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Ryu, and Inkling.

--screwed myself out of getting Pit, Ike, and Jigglypuff all at end of matches and mis-timing a hit and thus they got their shot and sent me flying.

Stayed up to almost 1 last night, most of it was playing World of Light. I kinda regret doing that since it didn't seem as effective for unlocking characters. But I did unlock Sheik, Jigglypuff, and Lucario for WoL for sure. Outside of that I unlocked Bowser, Villager, Pit, Ness, Pac-Man, and Inkling by other means of play.

Also I like the new Classic mode, even if it does feel shorter. I had to retry some of Kirby's fights because of how his Classic mode run is set up, but boy was it worth doing for the last fight alone.

I played quite a bit last night and I'm loving the game. There's so much crammed in here! I'm not sure I'm ready to call it the best Smash yet, as I'm still like SSB4 a bit better.

Somethings I kinda don't like (mostly changes made for the sake of change):

  • Choosing you stage before your character (It's going to take quite a while to get used to)
  • How small the stage select screen is (it's like those hidden object pics trying to find a stage)
  • How you have to keep re-selecting your character after every match in Smash Mode
  • No touchscreen support in the menus (yet again big buttons in the menus and no touchscreen support? Especially, since the system is basically a touchscreen!)

Speaking of taking a while to get used to things...When you do an attack that sends your opposite flying of the stages, it zooms in and slows down for a sec. That was pretty jarring at first.

Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I've found character unlock battles kicking my ass. Maybe it's because I'm using the joy-con in the grip (I feel the short travel on the sticks is a bit of an issue). I don't have a pro-controller, but I think I'm gonna get that wireless GCN controller adapter, since I'm not sure I want to spend that munch on a pro controller.

Just got my copy and when the Amazon on comes eventually. (still no shipping notice as of this post)

Let's see what the hype is about.

Picking up my copy on the way home from work.

If any Ridleys are left, I'll get one, but I'm not holding my breath.

When I was buying Ultimate at Wal-Mart the only amiibo I see was Ridley they had like maybe 20 at the location I was at.

I think it depends where and when you go, that you see that amiibo in stock.

Saw no Inkling Girl or Wolf.

As long as I have the game I'm happy I can wait how ever long for those Ultimate amiibo to arrive.

Villager has been given the "death by a thousand cuts" treatment. Up tilt is smaller, up smash doesn't catch as well. Slingshots and turnips are slower. Pivoting with the gyroid doesn't slide as far. All parts of Timber are slower. Recovery has been butchered in every regard. He lost his unique jab, and that's shorter now too. Down throw doesn't combo well anymore.

And then there's Wii Fit Trainer, who has throw combos and an up tilt now. She feels SO different. Like she's not a total joke anymore.

Ultimate was so disorienting at first, but I'm getting used to it. Maybe with enough practice I'll stop accidentally using the wrong directionals. Plus, the AI has been massively improved from whatever Smash 4 was supposed to be--it's been chasing me offstage, too.

Don't forget if you have the retail copy of the game to claim your 80 coins before Jan 31st 2019 to be eligible to get piranha plant.

If you own the game digitally and bought before Jan 31st 2019, you are already eligible for piranha plant.

And I purchased my Figthers Pass too.

I'm already for Ultimate now.

Picking a stage before your character is good in the sense that the opponent can no longer pick a stage that might be disadvantageous to the character you picked, y’know?

I was tasked with getting Smash Ultimate for the holidays so while I was out last night between visits to the Emergency Room for my girlfriend (for those concerned, she is ok for now, trying to get specialist help but they are hesitant) I got to thinking about Smash. I thought 'I could just pick up a copy at Wal-Mart or Meijer... so then i don't need to deal with Amazon... yeah, let's do that' so I make my way there, almost got T-boned going up to Wal-Mart (I blame the lack of sleep at almost 4 am...) and picked up the physical game. So the "Ultimate" Christmas present has been secured, now to show the "Ultimate" patience and wait another 18 days to play Christmas morning.

PLEASE tell me that Joker means we can get a Spirit of Futaba possessing the Inkling Girl!

This is weird. I got a news message that said something about Persona and Smash, so I look it up, and yep, there's a (no-gameplay) announcement video for Guy from One of Those Persona Games as the first of the five DLC characters.

I guess his design is cool, except the silly eyelashes on his mask sort of kill it. He seems like a generic edgy anime protagonist. I guess he'll summon monsters for his attacks or something?

I got email confirmation from BBCanada a few minutes that Smash Pro Switch Controller shipped.

I can't believe most of what I expected came in with the exception of getting Ultimate myself, is all her today but that controller.

It's being shipped by Canada Post so this may or not take a while to reach me but at the moment I can't seem the track the package.

I really love how much of a swerve the Joker reveal was.  Been watching a few reactions and they range from "oh snap! Some new Persona 5 stuff" to "really? I guess that's cool". Then the card turns over and shows the Smash seal and everyone commences freaking the heck out because of the sheer WTF of it all. It's great!  Gotta say I'm actually a bit tired of Etika's reactions and I usually enjoy seeing his freak outs.  But watching his for this one...the dude's act is finally wearing on me because it felt TIRED.
