Mario Kart Racing Association - 2018 Season

Recommended Posts

A press conference was held at Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan in beautiful weather in the low 70s, thereby having it outside the famed Glass House, the nickname given to the headquarters given the walls all have glass outside, to formally announce Timber as the newest Ford Performance driver.

Following a highlight reel of his victory last night in the driver battle, CEO Jim Hackett and new teammate Banjo formally introduced the namesake of Timber Island to claps and cheers.

”It’s crazy to be racing in the MKRA now following the horrible events last week,” the tiger told reporters. “I never thought this day would happen being able to represent my home island on the biggest stage in the virtual world, but it’s here and it’s a dream come true.”

After his kart was formally shown to the press and fans attending, he and Banjo took test laps on a temporary circuit built around company HQ in their karts especially so Timber could get a feel for the MKRA karts heading into the race on Toad’s Turnpike next week, his first MKRA Grand Prix race.

”Its tough coming into the season with no prior experience in the MKRA,” he told reporters. “But I have good support from Ford, Banjo, the whole Ford Performance crew so I’m in good hands.”

Bedore the end of the conference the video of Conker’s apology from last week was played on the big screen so Banjo especially could see it prompting the bear to tell reporters that “if I could see him again, I’d tell him I would forgive him.”

What was unexpected was that the squirrel was allowed to travel to the event and surprised Banjo and hugged his friend and was told that, indeed, his apology was accepted much to the delight of those at the media.

Lastly, the car company gave the two drivers each a brand new Ford Mustang convertible as a welcome gift on behalf of the brand with both cars heading out on the streets of Dearborn with the top down to soak up the warm Michigan sunshine.

Heading into tonight’s Grand Prix at Toad’s Turnpike, there are storylines abound:

How will the new Ford Performance partnership of Banjo and Timber fair in their first race together, and how will the latter fare in his first MKRA start?

With their recent run of success, can CVS Fox continue their drive forward and make a push to make the constructor’s race interesting?

On their home track, can the late arriving Toad and Toadette continue their hot streak and show that they are the team to beat?

After a poor start to the season, team Coors Koopa roared big time in Katina with a 1st and 5th place.  Can Bowser and Koopa Troopa make the villains of the Valley proud again, this time on the hostile pavement of Mushroom Kingdom?

After being effectively colluded against by the rest of the field in Katina, can team Delta Sarasaland bounce back and reassert their dominance?

And as always, who or what will be the unexpected surprise of the night in what has already been a surprising season indeed?

Two considerable challenges await the drivers tonight that they haven't seen yet this season.  The first challenge is rain.  It's been dry for all 9 events up to this point, but tonight it is raining, torrential rain at times even.  The Toad Highlands area of Mushroom Kingdom has already gotten about 3 inches of rain today and it's expected to continue pretty much all race long.  And then as Fuzzer alluded to just a bit ago, there's the traffic, as the racers are racing not only themselves but also the other random vehicles driving on the figure-8 circuit, which include cars, vans, taxi cabs, and even semi trucks.  This is bound to be crazy.

10pm - The drivers are on the circuit for the formation lap.  As a precaution due to the conditions, the MKRA has limited the number of non-kart vehicles on the track to only about half of normal...the rain is driving and the winds are howling about 20-25 mph.  The fans who have come to watch the action are all wearing ponchos and parkas but seem in good spirits despite the rainy conditions.

10:05pm - Its time to bring the action!  The MKRA wisely did not allow any traffic to congregate on turn 1 or 2, and with it being 3 lanes wide all cars are through and onto the first main straightaway.  There's trouble in turn 3 though once the pack reaches the vehicular traffic as Fox wipes out on a taxi cab and Waluigi crashes into a van.  Also Kirby fails to slow down in time after getting bunched in between vehicles and bashes the back of Bowser's kart.  Those 4 are your opening lap casualties and the safety car is out.  That might be a common sight tonight especially given the weather.

Lap 3 - Unsurprisingly, Bowser has some choice words for Kirby in pit lane.  The King Koopa is understandably frustrated as he came into tonight with momentum after winning in Katina.

Lap 4 - Back to green flag racing, and it lasts not even a lap as Louie hydroplanes in turn 3 and ends up slamming the back of a semi truck.  His kart is totaled.

Lap 6 - Back to green flag again and once again it doesn't even last a lap.  This time it's Ash Ketchum who wipes out, trying to avoid other racers and traffic, he ends up skidding into the barricade on the outside of turn 4.  Ash has had difficulty staying on course at times this season and so it happens again here.

Lap 10 - We've finally had a longer stretch of green flag racing and it's the two LA Lawyers in front, Edgeworth just in front of Wright at the moment.  They have to drive the wicked freeways of LA on a regular basis so it makes sense they'd be at home here.  The two earthly racers, Fuzzer and Triforcemaster are right behind them running 3rd and 4th.  Perhaps the congested streets of Detroit and Cleveland have prepped them well for this event.

Lap 15 - It looks like the smaller, more agile racers are doing very well tonight, and the heavier drivers not at all.  Bowser was distraught earlier but honestly he was probably screwed, looking at where DK, Rosalina, Wario, and other heavy drivers are, way in the back.  Yoshi, Peach, Luigi, Toad, Toadette, and the newbie Timber round out the top 10 at the moment.

Lap 17 - Banjo is the latest casualty as he bangs with Sonic, and the hedgehog inadvertently steers an aggressive line, putting Banjo into the side of a taxi cab.  His night is over, which means that Timber is now on his own.

Lap 20 - First time through the pits and drivers get refueled and get their Goodyear rain tires replaced.  Fuzzer comes out first and is now in the lead, and Daisy has an excellent change and has moved up to 4th.  To have two Delta Sarasaland drivers at the front is not what the field wants...we'll see how this plays out.

Lap 24 - Wright and Edgeworth aren't yielding an inch.  Some great racing between Delta Sarasaland and Uber Lawyer right now.  Triforcemaster sits 5th, in front of the large pack of Mushroom World characters behind him.

Lap 26 - Another crash, this one involves Donkey Kong, who bashes into a semi truck.  Much like Ash earlier, he simply couldn't navigate turn 4.  Turn 4 is turning into a monster given that this stretch of the track is only 2 lanes wide, unlike the remainder which is 3 lanes wide.

Lap 30 - We're getting word that race control is pulling the traffic from the circuit for the 2nd half of the race.  The safety car will come out for what amounts to a 2nd formation lap before the race resumes.  Evidently the combination of the traffic and the weather is just making things too dangerous.

Lap 32 - We're back to green flag racing and it's an empty circuit now.  Toad and Toadette are fabulous on the restart and move up to 3rd and 4th, pushing the Delta Sarasaland duo at the front.  Toad and Toadette have been insinuating to the media that they would be leading the constructors standings right now had they not missed the first 4 races of the season, a fact that Delta Sarasaland don't seem to take kindly to.  Things are heating up now.

Lap 35 - It's getting downright intense as Daisy and Toad rub wheels in turn 3, while Fuzzer makes some sleek maneuvers to deny Toadette a pass in turn 4.  Meanwhile Triforcemaster continues to bide his time, but he's got Yoshi, Timber, Luigi, and many others right on his tail.  Wright and Edgeworth have fallen back a bit but are still in the top 10 at the moment.  The rain seems to be starting to take a bit of a toll on the Uber drivers...they don't see much rain in SoCal this time of year...

Lap 40 - Into the pits for the 2nd time, and this time its Amazon Plumber team that does the best, as Mario and Luigi get out of the pits in 2nd and 4th, breaking up the pack of Delta and Fridays drivers.  In front of all of them though, is Triforcemaster, whose Sherwin Williams Hyrule pit crew has a perfect change and gets him into the lead.

Lap 42 - Uber Lawyer's drivers continue to mix it up.  With all of Uber, Delta, and Amazon in the pack of 2nd through 7th, it's making it difficult for any other teams to get a look at the podium.  There is paint being exchanged in some of the turns as well!

Lap 46 - It appears that the 3 full teams going at it are content to let Triforcemaster pull away.  Amazon, Fridays, and Delta all seem to be battling with one another, in particular the latter two, and don't seem concerned with Tm3's growing lead.  The NBL's commissioner might be riding toward his first MKRA win.

Lap 49 - With conditions so intense and treacherous it appears that Daisy and Fuzzer have taken a bit of a defensive posture, and have more or less ceded the podium positions to ensure they make it to the finish line.  Uber has seized on the opportunity and is now mixing it up with Amazon and Fridays.

Lap 50 - With 10 laps to go, its Tm3 leading, followed by Luigi, then Toad, Wright, Mario, Fuzzer, Daisy, Edgeworth, Koopa Troopa, and Yoshi

Lap 52 - Fuzzer and Daisy's decision to play it safe might have just been proven right, as Wright and Luigi get tangled up on turn 4, both hydroplane and smack the outside barricade hard.  Their night is done.  Safety car comes out, which is exactly what Tm3 didn't want as he was likely away for the victory and now will have to deal with a restart.

Lap 54 - On the restart, Toad, Toadette, and Mario all challenge Tm3 hard.  Seeing the hard restart by Friday's Fun Guys, Delta Sarasaland presses as well.  It's a 4-wide sweep into turn 3 and a bottleneck into turn 4, where Daisy clips Edgeworth's kart and skids.  She loses position but amazingly manages to regain control and not smack the barricade.  Fuzzer slows down to link back up with her.

Lap 55 - Further back, Krystal's brakes fail, and she is forced to retire...finishing out a disappointing night for CVS Fox.

Lap 57 - This race couldn't be scripted much better for Toad and Toadette, as they are right up near the front sitting 2nd and 3rd, ahead of all their major rivals with a bunch of them crashed out of the race.  The one monkey wrench in the script between them and victory is Tm3, who is having the race of his life and isn't backing down.  With Zelda way back in the pack, it's all or nothing now for Tm3 and the Hyrule team

Lap 60 - The final lap unfolds like a whodunit.  With the crowd on their feet, chanting for Toad and Toadette, the two fungi launch move after move to try to get in front of Tm3, but with his greater weight, Tm3 gets a bit of a lead going down the hill midway through the circuit.  The momentum carries him up the bank and into turn 3.  His line into turn 4 is a bit conservative, and Toad punches it going outside trying for an insane last pass and victory, but he loses control and hits the barricade just meters from the finish line, allowing Tm3 to hold on for the victory.  Toadette finishes 2nd, and Mario and Edgeworth come third and fourth before Toad's wrecked kart manages to stumble across the line 5th, right in front of Yoshi, Timber, Peach, Fuzzer, and Daisy who round out the top 10.  For Tm3 it's his first ever MKRA victory and the first win for team Sherwin Williams Hyrule, while Toadette and Mario claim silver and bronze.

Final Results:

1.Triforcemaster - 25 pts

2.Toadette - 20 pts

3.Mario - 18 pts

4.Miles Edgeworth - 15 pts

5.Toad - 12 pts

The mean streets of Detroit are helping me tonight. But of course, I could see my night end due to a collision with a car just as easily.

Better hope the MKRA has really good insurance policies for damages to the other cars on the road tonight.

Uber Lawyer vs Delta Sarasaland? Gonna be fun.

And this is why cars aren’t allowed on a temporary street circuit unless it’s tow trucks and medical vehicles.

Oh it’s on, especially with no annoying cars to deal with.

Or we could be biding our time until something stupid happens to the current podium.

Smart move. Gonna be fun.

Glad you didn’t wreck. Let’s finish this fight.

Well that’s a shame for Krystal.

Oh boy. Gonna be an epic finish.

Top 10 finish for both of us. Good.

The head of the Detroit Grand Prix Committee took part in an interview with Saraslaand’s MKRA broadcaster STN during the extended yellow expressing disgust at what was happening tonight:

”This is just ridiculous. When you watch an IndyCar race from Long Beach or St Petersburg, or an F1 race at Singapore and Monaco, the streets used are closed to road traffic for a reason. Karts and regular cars don’t mix well and the rain tonight made it worse.”

When the announcers asked if there was any traffic during the Detroit F1 races in the 80s, the head organizer said:

”Not at all. Those roads were closed for good reason. Imagine if drivers like Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Martin Brundell, those guys who raced on the streets in the 80s had to deal with the traffic the MKRA drivers had to deal with tonight. We could’ve had horrible deaths, especially if one of the drivers rammed into the back of a passenger vehicle or semi truck. You didn’t have HANS devices back then so you’d be dead instantly. We plan to ensure our streets used for the circuit are closed to traffic on race day to avoid such a debacle that happened tonight.”

With a race in their city on July 15, Mushroom City is considering closing the city streets used in the course to regular traffic saying that “even without rain, the fact that drivers have to deal with regular traffic that could eliminate them is unfair and ruins their race as a result as was evident last night, combined with the heavy rain.”

The Public Roads Ministry is also making such considerations and is considering some sort of fines for Toad’s Turnpike’s organizers saying that “the first 30 laps were dangerous even with reduced traffic and led to unnecessary eliminations with drivers getting hit by the road traffic. The race should’ve been run with no traffic last night regardless of if it was raining or not.”

The Dragoon Air Ride circuit is a bit of an unusual course. It ties in sections of Fantasy Meadows, Machine Passage, Frozen Hillside, Magma Flows, and Checker Knights, in that order. Twelve laps will be dispersed among the five courses, and when a racer finishes in Checker Knights, they will be warped back to the beginning in Fantasy Meadows. Fantasy Meadows starts with a huge bridge, and then a huge cave. Machine Passage has different paths, steel fans, wind fans on the ground, and bumpers. Unlike the usual course from the games, it's wider, and there are no places for anyone to fall off this time around. Frozen Hillside has secret pathways, moving wall lasers, frozen stalactites, winding turns, and a narrower path at the end. Magma Flows has flowing lava pits, different paths, and walls of lava. Checker Knights is the only place where one can fall off and has different paths, two levels in the sky and on the ground, and rotating tiles that can make racers spin out of control. Anyone who is out of the race will be sent back to the starting area from Fantasy Meadows. The usual enemies of the paths have been cleared out for some good old racing, but the hazards will remain the same. The rail sections have also been turned into normal course layouts this time around.

So, let's get started!

8:50- All of the racers arrive at the beginning of the race at Fantasy Meadows. They all have not been told of the course layout, even the Kirby team who knows of this particular course.

9 AM- 3... 2... 1... and the race begins!

Lap 1- An incident on the easiest part of this circuit already? Who is it?! ... Koopa Troopa got knocked off of the big bridge somehow in the ensuing chaos right at the beginning of this race.

Lap 5- It's been a bit surprising, as most of the drivers have not been out yet, despite there being multiple of times of times beforehand. Well, that has changed for this track. Palutena drove really close to the edge of part of the track, and who else but Banjo pushed her off. And it's not like he became dizzy. 55 laps to go, and two racers already out.

Lap 10- It's another miracle, as until now, the other courses seem like a spring breeze to the racers. Maybe something might happen to make the race more chaotic than it should be. Anyways, Jody Summer, like Palutena, is knocked off the Checkers Knights part, when a spinning Donkey Kong collides into her. Donkey Kong is lucky that the bump sent him back on track.

Lap 12- In the Machine Passage part, Louie pushes Rosalina into one of the steel fans, and both things break in the process. She's fine, but she's warped to the start, like the rest of the racers.

Lap 14- In the Magma Flows part, Waluigi pushes Birdo into one of the lava pits. Birdo immediately warps out of the race before she comes toast, but she's out of the race.

Lap 17- Back in the Machine Passage part, Diddy Kong drives into a wind fan. He rotates his car around in a panic, and crashes into the nearby wall. He's sent back to Fantasy Meadows to rest.

Lap 23- In the Frozen Hillside part finally, Daisy pushes Mario into one of the frozen stalactites. He immediately warps out of the race, and a group of Hot Heads warm Mario and his car to better health. Mario catches a cold in the process, but emergency aid will cure that by the next time he does something. But, a man who uses fire goes out by a frozen thing. Ironic, isn't it?! We're about 1/3rd of the race now, so anything can happen!

Lap 29- Back in Magma Flows, Zelda sends Donkey Kong into a wall of lava... but, the lava is fake, and is actually a warp wall! Yes, the walls aren't made of lava there, but they do send racers back to Fantasy Meadows. None of the Kong family are left in the race.

Lap 32- Back in Machine Passage, Wheelies have suddenly appeared in the race. One bump into them could mean trouble for the racers! Ash Ketchum is the first of their targets, and he crashes into a wall! He's warped out! The sudden appearance of the Wheelies could mean more trouble in the other parts of the race!

Lap 36- Waddle Dees in mine carts come into the Fantasy Meadows part of the race. Believe it or not... Triforcemaster's first outing in the whole event is colliding into one of them. Not kidding. Who'll be the next targets of these random monsters' showings?!

Lap 40- Waluigi is pushed off by Amy Rose, yada yada yada... 2/3rds in the race, and something shocking happens. A fleet of Walker Waddle Dees, and... the Halberd seemingly commanded by... KING DEDEDE of all things, halt the racers path to the next course. King Dedede has staged a protest that if he and possibly another racer do not switch out with Metaknight or any of the of the other pairs of the Association, he will fire upon any of the racers, no matter where they head to. The racers are frozen out of the race, and are returned to Fantasy Meadows, where their progress has been saved. But, the threat has not gone away, so it's either King Dedede enters the association with a partner of his choosing... or the race will come to an abrupt halt.

TO BE CONTINUED.

(Have to do other stuff, I will continue on with this when I come back later.)

Lap 41- King Dedede has replaced Gary Oak, while Waddle Dee takes over where Ash was... in the sidelines. He now has to do extremely well to get his partner out of the mess they're in currently. Meanwhile, another first, as this time it's... FUZZER?! Yeah, and this time it's a Cappy that was in a mine cart at Fantasy Meadows. Man, the managers had a hard time this time around. Daisy and Zelda have to carry their team mates for the rest of this race!

Lap 43- Finally, a double hitter, as Louie and Amy Rose bump into each other, and steer right into the wall lasers from Frozen Hillside, which blast part of their vehicles. The two karts are warped out.

Lap 49- At the Magma Falls part, a Birdon flaps its wings, and the gust it makes pushes Yoshi into a lava pit. The poor guy screams, but stops when he sees that he warped out in time and is perfectly fine.

Lap 50- At the Checker Nights part, Olimar's kart becomes haywire upon touching a Sparky. He drives off the track, and lands back in Fantasy Meadows. Both he and his partner are out. A darn shame. 21 racers out of the 36 left. Who will be left standing?!

Lap 52- Toad's out. He crashed into a Gordo in Machine Passage and that was that.

Lap 53- Bowser seemed to have things in control, but Banjo pushed him into a Chilly at Frozen Hillside. Bowser was taken out, where he was cooled by some Hot Heads. Both he and his partner are out. ... Oh, yeah, another ironic moment.

Lap 54- Pit's kart was scorched by a Hot Head in Magma Flows. He warped out, while the nearby Chillies cooled off Pit. He and his partner Palutena watch from the galley.

Lap 55- Fox got too cocky, and fell off a part of the Checker Knights section due to it. He must have forgotten it was not the last leg of the race. 17 racers remain!

Lap 57- The final moments of the race, as everyone does fine in Fantasy Meadows. But, Timber happened to drive into a Togezo, where did a bit of damage with its needles. Timber is out with no signs of being hurt.

Lap 59- When the racers arrive, they suddenly find themselves in Checker Knights. But, how can this be? But, Miles Edgeworth is stopped by the sword of a Blade Knight. He is warped out with no regrets. The sword after all represents his profession in life. What a way to go out!

Lap 60- The last track of the race is... Nebula Belt! Here, the racers' own enemies are themselves. Heck, here's even guard rails here! In first place is... Yoshi! Following him are... Captain Falcon and King Dededede! After that are... Kirby, Sonic, and Toadette! Next are Daisy, Zelda, and Phoenix Wright! The next bunch are Luigi, Wario, and Peach! Last are Krystal, Banjo, and... Metaknight. Huh. I'd thought he would have done better in tracks he knows. Guess not. Congrats to Dedede for helping his partner, though!

Final Results:

1. Yoshi - 25 pts

2  Captain Falcon - 20 pts

3. King Dedede- 18 pts

4. Kirby- 15 pts

5. Sonic- 12 pts

There has been a decision between the MKRA and King Dedede. He and his mystery partner will replace... BMW Bigshot, as I'm pretty sure the team of Poke'mon trainers have not grown out of their eleven year old phase yet (seriously, no one thought about asking this). How they got the BMW deal is beyond most of the association. But, the duo will start out with no points, and since Ash was DNF'd, one of the two will have to watch from the sidelines unfortunately.

But, who will be his buddy?! It's... WADDLE DEE!

The two are also sponsored as Copa Di Kingdom, known for the famous small wine glass distributors once seen on Shark Tank, though they never got a deal.

The race will resume shortly. Waddle Dee will stay behind, while King Dedede tries to do his best!

Having had their team replaced today, BMW Big Shot is considering legal action against King Dedede and the MKRA for being kicked out of the competition saying in a statement they were removed from the races “illegally and without going through the proper channels in the first place.”

A lawsuit is likely to be filed in Mushroom City tomorrow morning.

The MKRA is working feverishly today along with local legal teams from Mushroom Kingdom, Popstar, Kanto, And also Germany following the events that transpired at the Popstar Grand Prix on Memorial Day.  At the heart of the debate are how to score the race following King Dedede’s taking over Gary Oak’s kart midway through, and also the apparent joining of King Dedede / Waddle Dee at the expense of Ash Ketchum / Gary Oak.  Representatives in Kanto and for BMW are said to be outraged and are demanding that their team be re-inserted with immediate effect.  NSN will be covering this story throughout the day.

When asked by the media about what transpired, Gary Oak said quote, “Man, that was some bullshit.  They better ***** fix this.”

BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer released a statement expressing his outrage at the events that happened last night saying in English:

”Thanks to the unauthorized takeover of BMW Big Shot by King Dedede and Waddle Dee yesterday, Bayerische Motoren Werke, or Bavarian Motor Works in English, has lost its flagship team in the MKRA for the foreseeable future and have no choice but to suspend operations and temporarily lay off all of our staff and also Ash and Gary as a result of the events. We at BMW are furious at what transpired in Popstar yesterday and will be cooperating with authorities in Popstar, Kanto, Mushroom Kingdom as well as our own local authorities and legal experts in Munich to get our team back as quickly as possible and to ensure this won’t happen again. We also ask the MKRA to ensure safeguards are in place for all teams to ensure a hostile takeover can be prevented in the future.”

Update: the other three engine suppliers (Chevy, Ford and Honda) have released a joint statement expressing outrage at the aforementioned events and plan to take extreme measures to ensure “all of our teams don’t find themselves suddenly no longer racing as a result of a blantant hijacking of the team. We call on the MKRA to ban the new team effective immediately and restore BMW Big Shot’s place on the grid.”

However, King Dedede and Copa Di Vino are not one to back down.

When asked about the current situation during a recent interview, King Dedede stated:

"Sure, I know what I did was risky, and this will cause some... unpleasantness. However, what all you didn't know what I mean to do if things didn't go my way was to... let pies fly into the air. I would only make it harder for any racer to clear a track, not to genuinely hurt them. Go and check every inch of the Halberd and the Walkers the Waddle Dees were with. And I gave a written order to my lackeys Mr. Shine and Mr. Light beforehand about this plan directly and to search any machine to make sure there's nothing malicious. So if any weapons are found, you can blame their incompetence, not mine. As for those recent monster sightings, you cannot connect them to me. I have in no way been in any agreement with Nightmare about it, even though he's been in the NBL for some time. And, like me, he only planned on making the track more chaotic. And, through some of my networks, I heard he was asked by a mysterious party to do it, and they were also in charge of what happened at Roulette Road too. Needless to say, you yourselves fell for my bluff intentionally. What I meant to do was make it harder for anyone to race if my demands were not taken, not to destroy anything. In which case, all the responsibility falls back on all of you for being gullible. And as for the duo of Ash and Gary being caught in this mess... I myself didn't order them to be taken out directly as well. Someone in your association is responsible for that mess, not me.

If all of us villains would start doing this hijacking, Dr. Eggman could have done it during the Roulette Road race. And even after this, I dare think OoT Ganondorf, Wizpig, Giovanni, Samurai Goroh, Wolf, and King. K Rool would try this stunt later now that security's more uptight. Besides, whereas they're villains to a tee, I'm more of an anti-hero. You never realized how stupidly brilliant this whole convoluted plan was.

Oh, and yes, sue me. I think you forget who I am. De.De.De. King of Planet Popstar, yours truly. I've got loads in the case of settlements and bails.

Even if you tried, there's no way I'm absolutely responsible for all of these measures. And, I had no plans after this race anyways. This was the only time I could attempt to do this to begin with. Try and find any conclusive evidence against any of my claims. You'll ever find it."

Word is that a decision from the MKRA will be handed down later tonight.  Mediators have been working round the clock with representatives from Popstar, Kanto, BMW, Copa Di Vino, And and other interested parties to try to negotiate a settlement good enough to satisfy everybody.  That task might seem impossible given the events that transpired 24 hrs ago but MKRA Commissioner Yoshidude21 said just minutes ago that major progress has been made in the last few hours.  He would not elaborate on any details however.

NSN is hearing also that NAFA Commissioner Sheikahprincess has been called in to help mediate this dispute.  That is quite interesting seeing as NAFA Matchday 6 is tonight also.

The MKRA has handed down a decision regarding the events that transpired at the Popstar Grand Prix on Memorial Day.  Yoshidude21 at the podium, flanked by representatives of the various interested parties said...”what happened yesterday with Dedede driving the Halberd into the path of the race between lap 40 and 41 and staging what amounted to a sit in...this was certainly a reckless and dangerous decision.  And in that moment, even I couldn’t be sure what he had in mind, much less the racers or the teams.  I spoke with him on race radio and he said that he wanted into the race.  I take responsibility for what happened next because I said find a kart and get your butt in the race.”

Yoshidude continued, “ I could’ve easily said no, you’re crazy, and just ended the race after 40 laps.  I suppose that would’ve been the mature thing to do.  But this is also about business and showmanship.  It’s whats best for business, so I let him in. Granted I didn’t expect that he would hijack Gary’s kart and try to push team BMW bigshot out of the association.  That won’t stand.  In fact, after long hours of mediation and talks today here’s what we have decided:

1.Since Dedede did not complete all 60 laps of the Popstar Grand Prix, he cannot earn any points for that race.

2.  Since Gary’s kart crossed the line third and he did not willingly lose his kart during the red flag period, he will be credited with finishing 3rd, getting the race’s bronze trophy and 18 points

3.Team BMW Bigshot is reinstated with immediate effect.

4.Team Copa Di Vino Dreamland has been provisionally added to the team lineup for the next 4 events, after which their standing in the MKRA will be re-evaluated. Their full participation will start with next weeks Koopa Beach Grand Prix and continue through the Darkwater Beach Battle Arena on June 24th.  Depending on how the new team does they could retained for the rest of 2018 or booted.

5.Any other teams thinking of performing such a hostile takeover in the future will be rejected, although the MKRA will review their policy for admitting new teams and/or relegating bad teams by the time of the 2nd Battle Arena at Darkwater Beach.

This 4 point agreement has been agreed to by all parties.

Delta Sarasaland Racing Team released a statement saying that “while we were stunned at what transpired yesterday, we are pleased that the negotiations that took place today produced a set of agreements that all parties involved agreed to and can allow us to once again focus on the racing for the foreseeable future.”

It has been announced that Chevrolet will supply Copa di Vino Dreamland with engines for the team going forward, thereby evening the number of teams supported with Ford to 6 each. Reports are coming in saying that there was “no way” the team would have BMW engines after that stunt pulled yesterday.
