Gold
This year, there will be two competitions you can participate in. The first is our standard Games Beaten. The second is Challenges. You can be in both or just one, your choice. GAMES BEATEN: Same criteria as last year:Beat a game, post the name and the system. That’s it. No photo needed. Give remarks and/or a rating if you want. Whatever floats your boat. Yeah, we have to go by the honor system, but the main point once again is to take out your backlog! If someone lies their ass off, they are only hurting them self. The goal is to beat the games we buy. If you want a way to keep track of your backlog, go to backloggery.RULES: 1) Make a new post when you beat a game, so I can easily see it and count it. Game and system is all you have to post. However, having either your first post be a master post or keeping a running total on each new post helps me double check and make sure scores are accurate. 2) NO EMULATORS UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY OWN THE GAME (or otherwise stated). 3) You may finish a game you started playing in 2017 or before and count it. That's fine. 4) HOWEVER, please do not open up a save file from years ago that is right before the final boss, beat it, and then claim beat the game. That's cheap. 5) You can however, feel free to go back to a game you haven't played for year(s), start from the beginning and beat it and count it. XCWarrior beats Star Fox 64 every year for example, and Jack of Hearts cleans though old fighting games like it's his job. That's fine. 6) Beating a game multiple times in the same year (Ex: again, Star Fox 64), will only count 1 time. This includes the same game on different consoles, remakes, ect. 7) Digital downloads count for the system you played it on, physical copies count for the system they were made for. 8) Mobile games in the nature of gatcha, slight story, ect such as; Fire Emblem: Heroes, Puzzle & Dragons, Star Wars: Heroes, ect, can all be considered complete after beating all stages. For example, every story mode and paralogue stage in FE, all normal stages in P&D, all light, dark, cantina, and mod battles in SW, ect. These requirements can change if more story missions or stages are added. Categories: 1) Console – Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, NES, Wii U eshop, PSN, XBLA, Ouya, ect 2) Handheld – 3DS, DS, Vita, PSP, GBC, 3DS eshop, PSN, etc 3) PC – PC and Steam Box 4) Mobile – Phone and Tablet games 5) Overall – Add up all categories above to get a totalNOTE: Since some PSN games have cross save functionality, you pick whether you beat it on PS4/PS3/PSV (if applicable).NOTE: Physical copies of games count for their original system, digital copies of games count for the system you beat them on.NOTE: Emulators count as the copy of the game you must own for it to count. Owning a physical copy of that game counts as the original system, owning a digital copy counts as the system you beat it on (usually PC in this case).Prizes: The respect of your peers, you are the gamer of the year.CHALLENGES: Challenges are a sort of rehash of the old achievement system. You can beat challenges for points. At the end of the year, prizes will be distributed. RULES: 1) You must provide picture proof of each. 2) Your N4A name must be visible in the picture. 3) Each person may only beat each challenge once. 4) If beaten on an emulator, you must provide proof of ownership of the legitimate copy (unless otherwise stated). 5) Challenges will be added periodically as people beat the older ones. 6) If a previously beaten game with proof completes a newly added challenge, just make a note of it in your next update post. 7) You are in charge of keeping track of this section if you are participating. I will only be checking to make sure the games you are claiming for each challenge actually meet the credentials. I will not be pouring over games beaten lists to see if you beat challenges and did not post about them. Bronze (Worth 1 point each) 1) Fist Fight – Beat a fighting game 2) Self Inflicted Pain – Beat Bad Rats 3) May The Force Be With You – Beat a Star Wars game 4) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) – Beat an eroge 5) Servant of the Elder Gods – Beat a game that deals with Lovecraftian horrors 6) Superman – Beat a superhero videogame 7) True Gaming – Beat a board game video game 8) Telltale Signs – Beat a Telltale game 9) This Fantasy Ain’t Final – Beat a Final Fantasy Game 10) I Reject Your Reality And Substitute My Own – Beat a VR game Silver (Worth 3 points) 1) Bad Touch – Beat a game using the Power Glove 2) Furry – Beat a game where you play as an animal 3) Tactician – Beat a Fire Emblem game 4) Fan Of The Classics – Beat 5 games released before 1990 5) Life Or Hometown? – Beat a Senran Kagura game 6) Perfectionist – 100% a game (ex: all achievements/trophies obtained, all stars in a Mario game, ect) 7) Lady Boner Harder Dan Steel – Beat an Etrian Odyssey game 8) I Can’t See My Character – Beat a bullet hell game 9) It’s Over 9,000! – Beat a game with a number over 9,000 in its title 10) Gender Equality – Beat a game with a female protagonist Gold (Worth 5 points) 1) Seeing Red – Beat a Virtual Boy title 2) Justin Bailey – Get the fastest ending in Metroid 3) Cardinal C-Note – Beat 100 games 4) The Future Is Now Old Man – Beat 30 games on the current generation of consoles (excludes mobile and PC) 5) Top Of The Food Chain – Beat a Monster Hunter game 6) Exterminator – Beat an Earth Defense Force game (does not include the unrelated Earth Defense Force game for the NES) 7) You Cannot Grasp the True Form of Giygas’ Attack! – Beat any Earthbound/Mother game 8) Smashing! – Beat a Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pokémon, Star Fox, Metroid, Earthbound, F-Zero, and Kirby game 9) Well Rounded – Beat games on 7 different systems 10) Seagull – Beat The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening without dying (picture proof must be during the bonus scene) Platinum (Worth 10 points) 1) Breath of Fresh Air – 100% The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2) Bloody Fingers – Get 100% on 'Through the Fire and the Flames' on Expert in Guitar Hero III 3) Takeshi's Challenge – Beat Takeshi no Chōsenjō (Emulator is allowed) 4) Masochist – Beat Hoshi wo Miru Hito [Stargazers] (Emulator is allowed) 5) Smashing Board – Beat ‘The Legend of Zelda’ doing the No Sword Challenge Prizes: TBD - There will be actual prizes this year, something along the lines of gift cards. blcdude1
Beat: Kung Fu Panda Showdown of Legendary Legends, PS4 This was a PlayStation Plus title in December. It's like Smash Bros, except with Kung Fu Panda characters and not very good. Quote Link to comment
Art_de_Cat
Beaten: Skyrim Switch Technically beat it at the end of last year but didnt confirmation that was the end since credits didnt roll. A fun game, tons to do, a lot of work voicing all those characters and setting up that much intertwining lore. Quote Link to comment
Laclipsey
Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend - As much as one can "beat" a fighting game. It's not like I mastered all of the characters. I count finishing the story mode as finishing the game. Happened a little while ago, but better late than never. I've since moved on to Chrono Phantasma and I'm still having a blast. The story mode in this series is just all kinds of ridiculous. Quote Link to comment
