Fuzzer1
https://mynintendonews.com/2017/12/24/nintendo-has-removed-the-hidden-nes-golf-game-from-the-switchs-firmware/ Such a shame to see something hidden in the firmware removed now and no reason is given as to why that’s the case. Stopdoor
You characterize this in such a weird way, you expect Nintendo to put out like, a statement? Literally it was hidden, in a completely esoteric way, it's not like Nintendo was advertising "motion-controlled NES game tribute game included!" on Switch boxes. Hopefully it's a tech demo for some interesting ideas, motion controlled old school games could be cool in a novelty way. Quote Link to comment
Chrom
Yeah, I agree that Nintendo doesn't owe anyone a statement, and honestly I think they're better off not putting out one. It'd have been neat if they let the public be able to try it out, but it's more the thought that counts that even put it in at all, even if only for a while. Quote Link to comment
avalonknight
Welp, it was meant to be a protection charm for the Switch. Since it has been "opened", and the Switch is still going strong; Iwata's powers are no longer needed, and was "given back" to him. Elemental Hero 1 Quote Link to comment
Elemental Hero
Internal reports estimated damages of tens, possibly hundreds of cents in lost revenue from potential sales of NES Golf. avalonknight, April and Kodiack 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Cryptic
I'm going to guess they removed it for a boring reason, like that they didn't want to have to account for such an obscure feature when doing system updates, so they removed it. I dunno. Quote Link to comment
Punchy
It's more than likely taking up memory that could be used for other features and or stability. Quote Link to comment
