Vs. Super Mario Bros might be 12/22

The "might" is because it looks like 12/22 is the Japanese release date it appears but they assume the North American one would be the same.

Any reason why it wouldn't just be a simultaneous global release? Granted it's an assumption but doesn't seem too farfetched to go with what NintendoLife is thinking there for the most part.

Not sure why that wouldn’t be a global release myself. It’s not like the game needs too much text to translate to English anyway.

What's even the deal with this game? No one really takes about what makes it "Vs." or competitive. Is it essentially just a slightly remixed Super Mario Bros. and maybe the game compares you and P2's scores at the end?

It gets you to buy a 30 year old game again, but at an even higher price this time.

 

... Not that we know much about it, but this is a port of the arcade version of Super Mario Bros. Most 1-Ups are removed and many levels have been made slightly more difficult or outright replaced with their later counterparts or new levels which are in SMB's sequel.

Looking like next week on the 22nd might be getting a little more official.  Article also notates some more differences with this version versus the NES game.
