alienboyva
Quote Russian efforts to meddle in American politics did not end at Facebook and Twitter. A CNN investigation of a Russian-linked account shows its tentacles extended to YouTube, Tumblr and even Pokémon Go. One Russian-linked campaign posing as part of the Black Lives Matter movement used Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr and Pokémon Go and even contacted some reporters in an effort to exploit racial tensions and sow discord among Americans, CNN has learned. Fuzzer1
Is there ANYTHING the Russians haven’t used to supposedly meddle with? Quote Link to comment

Cryptic
Ok, so, it's fair to assume the Russians "interfered" in the election in some capacity. Fine. But honestly, Pokemon Go is in the headline here? Are they purposely trying to make themselves sound utterly ridiculous? There are a lot of people, even on the left, who are skeptical that Russia had much of an effect at all on the election even if they did interfere, and CNN felt it relevant to include in the article that a Tumblr page promoted a Pokemon Go contest that apparently no one entered? It's just click-bait nonsense. I hate Trump and think he's a dangerous lunatic and a fucking racist moron as much as the next guy, but this shit isn't helping build a case against him or helping link him with Russia. It makes the entire Trump-Russia narrative sound like tinfoil hat hysteria. alienboyva 1 Quote Link to comment

It would be awesome if these articles went in to the technical details on how Pokémon Go was used. I agree. This reminds me of that time PETA developed and released a cheap flash game or whatever parodying Pokémon because they felt that it promoted blood sports. It totally does; the Pokémon universe is perhaps the least humane on this front. Who the fuck knows? Maybe PETA "leaked" that tidbit. Quote Link to comment
