From there I will decide if gonna watch Mandalorian or Ahsoka then maybe the clone wars. Tho from what I watched from Ahsoka, that show takes place after the clone wars so I wonder or maybe I should watch that first for context in Ahsoka. Now, I am really getting just going around and around this.

Whenever I watch Episode 4, well see if I will watch anything else....time will tell.

Ahsoka takes place after both Stars Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Story-wise, Rebels will elevate Ahsoka as it pulls plenty from that series. Character-wise, those animated series might actually hurt Ahsoka based on how the first two episodes have gone. Outside of Chopper, Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera aren't quite there yet in comparison to their animated characters. The third episode for Ahsoka comes out later tonight, so maybe the execution will be better. Definitely watch Episode IV before anymore Ahsoka though. After, if you're wanting the most context for the Ahsoka series, watching Star Wars Rebels is the way to go.

As, I thought not from being lost context, it's in the episodes, all the prevention of trouble from Clone Wars from not happening again is present in Ahsoka, front and centre.

I didn't mind but if I am appreciate what this franchise has to offer, I must give it its fair shake by understanding what's happening to an extent.

That's the plan to simply start with Episode 4 then I will see if I want to delve any further with either the Mandolorian or Star Wars Rebels.

Dave Filoni is suppose to know better. I'm going to try to watch episode 2 of Ahsoka after that. Hopefully, some level of explanation is given, but that moment made me feel like I'm going to have to turn my brain off if I'm going to watch the series. It was a solid first episode until that last moment.

Watched episode 2, aside from the lingering of what happened at the end of the episode 1, I thought it was pretty good. As long as nothing else stupid happens, Ahsoka could be a solid series.

See now I can't remember what happened at the end of the first episode...

Just curious... Would you be more likely to watch Episode IV if we all did a GroupWatch (+ Discord voice or text chat)?

*I always forget D+ can do this. I've never tried it, so IDK how well it works.

I've used it a few times with family but that is back when the pandemic was at its peak years ago.

I would be lost as you how that works again too.

Not against idea in function or time, let's have at least 2 more ppl join us. Like it is fine and well whenever I will watch Episode 4 but with you guys, I will have background commentary of what's what. Not that I think I need it but context is everything to me so, it will be appreciated.

Don't wait on me cause I will forget to watch then remember out of the blue, oh yeah gotta watch a Star Wars movie. If this was anything else, (no offense to Stars Wars) I won't forget down the road to watch someday. At least if you guys can come with a date, I'll make sure to be free to watch it.

Sabine is stabbed through her body by Shin, the apprentice of Baylan, at the end of the episode. That means death to me, but Sabine wasn't killed off and was pretty fine considering at the start of the second episode. The only other time I've seen characters get stabbed like that and live is in Kenobi, and it happened three times between the Grand Inquisitor and Reva. I consider all these instances completely off from how the power of a lightsaber has been displayed in Star Wars prior:

Spoiler

I guess Snoke didn't die from the stabbing itself either, but it's hard to tell. I try to not talk or think about The Last Jedi too much. If Kylo Ren actually got stabbed in Episode IX and lived...I'm glad I skipped it. Regardless, living after being stabbed as Sabine did isn't suppose to happen. Reva too should've never been around if she had been stabbed as a youngling by Darth Vader, and they doubled down on the nonsense when her and Darth Vader battled again in the climax of the fifth episode of that series. The stabbing of the Grand Inquisitor was the one that gave me the first red flag for Kenobi series though, because I already know that character lives in Star Wars Rebels. I really hated that, but when the series is named Obi-Wan Kenobi I still had a hope that it would be good.

The Ahsoka series is in a similar boat right now. I love the character Ahsoka and so want to keep watching in spite of how the show has already treated lightsabers. If the series is done with that crap, I might be able to recommend it as Star Wars content with a warning of that particular moment. I think the second episode is decent and yesterday's episode is even better, so I think Ahsoka is on the right track.

On...

Meh on the whole lightsaber deal....  I mean in 4, Obi Wan comes back as a ghost.  On top of that in Clone Wars they resurrect Maul after being cut in half.  Then the mother of all WTFs is  7-9 basically say the Emporer who dies down that shaft in 6 was really a Force clone...  I mean dafuq...  While I get the point, the Emporer had this famous quote so...

Alright. We should see how many are interested first before picking a date.  I guess we can see during Mario Kart on Thurs. if anyone wants to join. ....Of course, if anyone reading this post wants to join, let us know

OH WAIT Now that I think of it, you might need a "No Ads" plan to use GroupWatch now, since they added new ad-supported plans in Dec. of last year in the US (I believe this is coming to CAN and EUR in Nov. of this year).

I hate how streaming services are starting add/now have ad-supported tiers now. I don't mind ads, as I'm used to them on TV. Though, if you're paying for a service it shouldn't have ads, IMO. Ads are supposed to keep things FREE (Ex: Pandora, Spotify, YouTube, and of course Over-the-Air "Antenna" TV and Radio). ...But, then there's the argument that Cable/Satellite TV have ads and you pay for those. :v

Yeah I watched the end last night before the new episode and figured that was it. It needed to be off to the side a lot more.

Well, I only got back D+ earlier this year and before this ad form of D+. I believe there's a price hike starting next month (a lot of subscription service, even outside of TV content is rising, yesterday the world found out what is happening to PS Plus)

so I suggest we group watch sometime in October, you guys choose the date in October that works best. We can discuss more in tonights MK8 night.

Obi-Wan gives himself up to Darth Vader and becomes a Force Ghost. He no longer is picking up a lightsaber after getting hit by a lightsaber, but is able to be with Luke in certain situations where he otherwise might not have been able to physically such in the X-wing to take down the Death Star and in the extreme weather of Hoth. The duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan showed the power of the lightsaber, that it can take life, and its aftermath showed the power that Jedi could obtain, a path Luke was on.

Darth Maul got cut in half and wasn't the same. When Maul first shows up in Clone Wars, he's an abomination...Waist down is a wild arrangement of legs made of scrap. He goes from being the apprentice of Darth Sidious and following his vision to being consumed and obsessed with getting back at Obi-Wan. There's quite a big shift for the character before and after his fall on Naboo, spanning through Clone Wars and Rebels. Besides Darth Vader's arc after suffering a similar lightsaber strike from Obi-Wan in Episode III, I would say Maul is the greatest example of the consequences that come from losing a lightsaber duel via a lightsaber strike.

I cannot really get into what Episode IX does to Episode VI as I have not watched Episode IX. I don't think it was a good decision to bring the Emperor back though and think the overall Star Wars narrative is better with Darth Sidious dead in Episode VI. I do not know if the sequel trilogy positively gains from any time it decided to break glass with certain narrative directions it took relative to other Star Wars content.

To get back to lightsaber duels, there needs to be greater consequences for a character than lying in a hospital bed, seemingly fine, so ready to get back to action. Sabine lost a duel and had been stabbed...They could have had her saved by modification from what otherwise would have been a fatal blow as was done in The Book of Boba Fett for the recovery of characters. I just hope nothing like the end of episode 1/beginning of episode 2 occurs again in Ahsoka unless it is taken in a more respectable and significant direction.

Ahsoka is on an upward trend. My only issue with the 4th episode is that I think it was a little too obvious that two encounters were handled as they were for the sake of plot. Ahsoka went from using two lightsabers against what basically were grunts to a single lightsaber against Marrok and Baylan, much stronger opponents. I only understand that direction as the  plot necessitated it as I don't feel I've seen anything to suggest Marrok or Baylan can handle Ahsoka if she uses both lightsabers. From what I've seen throughout of her character, Ahsoka should handle both of them with little challenge. I was verbally questioning why she was not using both lightsabers while watching both encounters. Given how the episode ends though, she has be overwhelmed and lose the duel to Baylan. I will say that all duels in this episode end in a way I had wish the Shin vs. Sabine duel had been handled at the end of the first episode. Show a character being overwhelmed or fleeing, stabbing is never the right choice unless the character is being killed.

I feel like clone, because of maul and savage storylines.

Right.... I binged one after the other, so it blend. But Ezra also tracked down Maul, the Sith temple and all, that was Rebels.
