I saw TMNT: Mutant Mayhem for my b-day today and it was a lot better than I was expecting. The voices of the Turtles were actually not that bad, with Leo's being the most fitting. I kind of didn't like the voices after seeing the first trailer, because I was expecting them to be similar to the 80s cartoon, 90s live-action movies, or 2000s cartoon. Though, these actually turned out to be good. This was an interesting take on the Turtles. They really felt like modern day teens, which was kind of cringy, yet also very endearing (I guess being voiced by actual teens was a good call). While I would have liked a more serious take, it actually had a good combination of 80s cartoon goofiness and 90s movies/2000s seriousness. I kind of didn't like how they once again slightly changed up origin story (IIRC, the 80s cartoon's origin story differed slightly from the one in original comic) or how April is also a teen in this movie. Also, I found it really odd that the Turtles called Splinter Dad instead of Master (Makes since given this origin story, since Splinter isn't a Japanese man that that became a mutant rat). I really liked the art style (very Spiderverse inspired, and not to mention, Splinter's design looked a bit creepy) and the original music that was composed. Overall I really enjoyed this take of the Turtles and would totally watch a series based on this on Nick or Parmount+, which says a lot, because I didn't really care for the cartoons (mainly due to the art style and voices) or the live-action movies (I thought the Turtles looked grose), since Nickelodeon got the rights to TMNT. It kind of feels like Nickelodeon saw the first Spiderverse movie and how popular it was and was like "We go to get the Turtles in on this!" Anyway, if you're a TMNT fan, definitely check this one out... Oh, and don't for get to stay for the after credits scene (This really answered a question I had about one character in the TMNT series and this movie).

BTW, the theater I went to was giving out these sweet posters!...

COWABUNGA! <- WAIT! Did they really not say this in the movie, because don't recall hearing it...?

I saw Blue Bettle yesterday. Definitely better than the first Shazam movie but suffer the same problem where I really only like the last 20 minutes of fighting in the movie.

How did this happen again or is just me picking up on that, it take so long to see some decent action in the film. At least it had better character development over Shazam, if didn't had that I would put ion par for Shazam but it just smidge better.

Decide to see the new TMNT movie today. It's pretty much AB said and it better than I expected. (also helped word of mouth of this movie have been mostly good, haven't heard anything bad about this movie)

I can't stop thinking about the movie. There's just some movies good or bad (mostly the good) that remain in mind. This is one of those movie that not only surprised me but was really good and is sticking with hrs after the movie ended.

Good job!

This kind of explains it I guess.

I enjoyed the first game, but everything after I just didn’t care for for the most part. Not a fan of the writing & Injustice’s particular brand of edginess, and other things DC have taken inspiration from it more than I would like. Not sure if that’s good or bad in Blue Beetle’s case though.

If I get around to seeing it, won’t be high priority; so if not at cinema, then whenever I get a month of Max again after it has been out awhile. It’s been getting decent reviews though apparently, so good to hear. Also glad this is not DCEU and that they’ve finally moved on from that dead universe after last year’s announcement.

I’m still pretty content from Guardians 3, but the TMNT I’ll see at some point eventually.

Looks fun. Expendables peaked for me with the 2nd one, but still curious enough to check this one out sometime.

1st was a good starter movie with its concept.

2 was excellent.  I loved JCVD as the villain.

3 was meh... had the potential with the cast and ties, but then.... it bloated itself out with the old crew vs. new crew stuff and just came off circular...

I'm hoping 4 is a return to form from 1 and 2, and skips the issues that plagued 3 from being as good as it could have been.

-first two episodes are good starter ones.

Yeah, felt more like an extended intro, but still good.

Blue Beetle/theater

--I liked the character that I first saw in Young Justice.   The movie us pretty solid, but damn does it it feel like "alien iron man".  Anyone notice the NES Powerglove?  Anyone think the beetle ship looked like the owl ship from Watchmen?  I also thought _ played a great villain role but again, it came off like Obadiah Stain/iron man. Xolo was solid.  Any back story reasons as to how Mencia's character was that versed in the tech?  Noted the Lexcorp building,  Gotham Law hoodie, and a few other things....

Dave Filoni is suppose to know better. I'm going to try to watch episode 2 of Ahsoka after that. Hopefully, some level of explanation is given, but that moment made me feel like I'm going to have to turn my brain off if I'm going to watch the series. It was a solid first episode until that last moment.

Watched episode 2, aside from the lingering of what happened at the end of the episode 1, I thought it was pretty good. As long as nothing else stupid happens, Ahsoka could be a solid series.

I got around to watch my first Star Wars experience with Ahsoka (you heard correct, I have not up till this point in my life watched anything, I mean anything Star Wars in my life. I got some ridicule from my MK8 Night mates and I don't care if anyone follow suit or ask, 'how come?')

I was just simply curious in the live action look of Ahsoka and that's the only reason why I even watched these episode. That said before I get in this shortest review of this Star Wars Series. I not void of all knowledge of Star Wars thanks to memes and such I know the basic lore of Star Wars but don't exact quote me on that.

With that out of the way, the episodes were alright for someone like me actually sitting down to watch something Star Wars with not a lot context for me to go by. So I want to get that out of the way before I say this. The fighting is cool but, I think that's it for me. So yeah, my Star Wars journey ends here.

I'm neutral on this abrupt stop in anything Star Wars so it is not personal, it is what it is.

OK, but what about Star Trek? (joking)? :D 🖖

Though in all seriousness, I feel like you should at least watch Episode IV - A New Hope (the first Star Wars movie released) and then decided if Star Wars is for you or not.

Depends on what you are looking for....

I mean...

Movie wise:

In the most general terms, the original trilogy (aka Episodes 4,5, and 6) are the best of the movies.  Episodes 1,2, and 3 are the prequel series of movies of which they set up a lot of stuff that gets talked about in 4-6.  Those aren't "bad" but they had to end a certain way to transition into the storylines of 4-6.  The final trilogy of 7-9 is hit and miss for me... I like somethings, hate other things, and in about as nice of a way as I can say it--they tried to be everything to everyone and kind of "woke" at the same time...and those philosophies seemed to go against the grain of the series up to that point.

Solo, the movie, is a tale of the pre-Episode 4 Han Solo.  As a movie by itself, it was decent.  Again, it had some "woke" moments that just came off odd considering.  Since you don't have an attachment to Harrison Ford's version of Han Solo, you might not have beef with anything else.

Rogue One is the movie for you if you like a more serious take on the Star Wars Universe.  It tells the tale of how an attack on a Sith space station came to be.

Live action TV speaking....

Live action TV wise:

The Mandalorian

--If you like your Star Wars with an even mix of of action, comedy, drama, this series is pretty solid.  The super basic plot of it is a person of Mandalorian allegiance, philosophical adherence is a bounty hunter who takes on a new job, and through said job runs into a foundling (aka young one with no parents/caretakers) and has to take care of him.  Through the three seasons so far, it is a tale of his journey in being a father to the foundling, struggles with adherence to the Mandalorian way, and based on who he as run into, what is best for his foundling, and making up his own mind about how he believes in certain Mandalorian philosophies.  Can't really get more specific because of spoilers.

Obi-Wan

--If you watch 4-6, and then 1-3, you will find this story arc very interesting.  The short story short is it is Obi-Wan dealing with his feelings and thoughts about what happened at the end of Episode 3 and what it means on the lead up to the events in Episode 4.  I would watch the movies before the show, because, some of the significance of some of the scenes would be lost on you.

Andor

--If you like a more action/drama-oriented space movie or if you did Rogue One and liked it, this series will be for you.  Its kind of the tale of why Casian Andor is the way he is in Rogue One.  Its got a lot more drama/political theater and is more like a Bourne movie if done in the Star Wars Universe IMO.

Ahsoka

--Its two good starter episodes for the series so far.  Rosario has appeared as her in The Mandalorian and Bobba Fet shows, so....  I can say that the two animated series that came out prior to this that have her in it, give you a better basis for where they are picking up at.  As of two episodes in the series, if you had no prior knowledge of anything Star Wars, you'd be lost as to certain things going on.

Bobba Fet

--IMO, the weakest of the the live action shows.  That said, it felt like it only got halfway through what they want to tell with it.  It is basically a story of one of the 4-6 movie characters and what happened to them after their "fate" in 6.   It wasn't bad, just felt incomplete.

Animated series:

Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch are all excellent shows.  For someone completely new to SW, I'd go Rebels first.  CW has a lot more ties to the movies and is basically post 3/pre 4.  The Bad Batch is its own deal, but watching Episode 2 helps in following certain things.

Basically, I'm saying don't write off further SW watching based on the two episodes of Ahsoka.

But equally aware, some folks like their space sci-fi closer to Star Trek or Dr. Who not Star Wars...  the Star Wars "deal" might not be your thing.

@alienboyva & @purple_beard: Thanks guys.

Well I like drama and action stuff in general, and comedy is alright in my book too.

I was gonna to go with that AB recommended with Episode 4 and I wasn't blind with what I heard the Mandalorian is to this franchise. It has all the things I like in a TV or movie, drama action. If it has comedy like the MCU, (which I know ppl are tiring of, not me) that show might be worth a shot.

First let's start with episode 4 and go from there, no promises or timeline when this will happen, tho.

I'd say don't give up on SW after two ahsoka episodes....

@alienboyva is right though, starting at ep 4 makes the most sense.  5 is a masterpiece follow up.  6 is like a 4 remix :D. Once you see it, you'll get where I'm coming from.

@alienboyva @purple_beard are right about the original trilogy movies. Episodes 4-6, and I would include Episode 3 too, provide the best live action content in Star Wars. In terms of the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian (Season 2>1>3) is the best, and would highly recommend checking out. If you like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett gives a similar vibe though not quite as good. Andor and the film it is tied to, Rogue One, are probably best experienced without much Star Wars content consumption. They're decent and work best as a pair.

If you're into animation, there is a lot more content worth watching. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is, to me, the best Star Wars content. Star Wars Rebels starts out slow with its first season, and then is mostly a gem until its series finale in Season 4. Tales of the Jedi is amazing albeit short, and I feel similarly about both volumes of Star Wars Visions. The Bad Batch's first season is very solid while its second season is a bit mixed.

Well, as I know and you said it not having the context of what came before Ahsoka is not doing me any favors.

And Episode 4, I believe won't help that but I am will to watch the rest of Ahsoka once I watch Episode 4, at least.

I get what you are saying and will gave it a fair shake, it's of course not sure to write off again with no context so we will see.

Hmm....I probably wouldn't mind watching the animated series. Similar to the Mandalorian, at least I thought I heard good thing about Star Wars Rebel so the clones wars (which i hear of all the time) is the better watch of the animated series, huh? Well I obviously have to take your word for it. What do I know to form a opinion on something I know so little of.

I am getting really ahead myself before I even start to watch one of the animated series. I'm starting off with Episode 4 (as it as good as any to start watching this franchise from)

From there I will decide if gonna watch Mandalorian or Ahsoka then maybe the clone wars. Tho from what I watched from Ahsoka, that show takes place after the clone wars so I wonder or maybe I should watch that first for context in Ahsoka. Now, I am really getting just going around and around this.

Whenever I watch Episode 4, well see if I will watch anything else....time will tell.
