"Casual Trash" Kirbys
Ferninand was enjoyable. Had some predictable moments and characters that annoyed me and that weird dance scene came out of nowhere but it was decent movie that I would watch with the family ... after Star Wars... and Coco. 7/10 would watch again for the genetically engineered bull. Ridley Prime
I enjoyed The Last Jedi, but get some of the gripes that were had with it. Kinda mixed on it but can give it a pass. It just seemed the hype for it wasn’t really there like with the last few or couple films. Quote Link to comment
Link, the Hero of Dreams
This film had the unfortunate chance to build up the same or more of the hype Episode 7 did. That was going to be a miracle! Quote Link to comment

But I think the more I watch it the more I'll enjoy it. Second time is better. I'm not sure it lived up to the hype, it did get a lot of hype. Doesn't mean the movie is bad by any means. Ridley Prime
Do like how people who hate on the new trilogy downplay the hate there was for the prequels and turn a blind eye to Lucas’ fumbles with them. Goes to show how time heals most things I guess. Am curious how time will be to the sequel trilogy when all is said and done. Quote Link to comment
Link, the Hero of Dreams
I like the sequel trilogy over the prequel trilogy. The acting and dialogue are a good reason. Who honestly can forget the awkward sand speech Anakin says in II? ... Though, in terms of quotes, I think that’s how the prequels will stand out. Quote Link to comment
Link, the Hero of Dreams
Watched The Greatest Showman. Although the singing was a little bit jarring at times, and some of the songs were corny... And the story was "fictionalized" and "based on true events"... Still, I do like the themes it presented; the acting, and especially the choreography and movement, were top notch; the set design was extraordinary; the lighting was wonderful; the cinematography was meaningful; the costumes were superb; and though I didn't like some of the music, I really cannot deny that the rest the rest had purpose, life, and power. Not to mention, everyone brought life and charisma to their roles, even if they were a little off with the signing. The music might have been anachronistic, but I felt like it fit the upbeat nature and one of the themes of the movie. I can say it's more in place than a certain other recent musical, but this is a movie discussion thread, not a musical thread, so... eh. Sure, it's not perfect, but in the context of the movie, If it's making people laugh and making people have a good time, then it's doing something right. There's a lot of passion and heart that went into this movie, so I'm satisfied and happy I went to see this... even though I was a little bit reluctant at first because of Jackman, Efron, and Zendeya, all of whom I think struggled with acting and/or singing at one point in their career. They've improved to an extent . Quote Link to comment
Link, the Hero of Dreams
Saw Star Wars. It was okay... though, it does have its fair share of problems. Still, when stuff hits the fan, it hits the fan. It's no Empire, but it was okay. By thoughts: 1. Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Force Awakens 4. The Last Jedi 5. Return of The Jedi 6. Revenge of The Sith 7. Phantom Menace 8. Clone Wars Not taking into account Rogue One, because of my thoughts on the expanded universe thing. Quote Link to comment

Eliwood8
*spoilers for The Last Jedi* I liked The Last Jedi, but Finn's plotline could have been entirely dropped with basically no ill effect on the movie. I get that it sets up the idea of the downtrodden rising up to fight against their oppressors but the entire time they were on the casino planet I kept thinking "aren't they under a pretty strict time limit here?" It would've brought the running time of the movie down to a better level as well. Otherwise though I quite liked that the movie plays against the audience's expectations: Luke doesn't just train Rey; Poe, Finn, and Rose's scrappy plan doesn't work; Snoke gets killed off pretty suddenly and won't be the looming threat for the next movie, etc. I would've liked to see it go even further and have Rey join Kylo Ren; maybe not as a full-fledged villain but as someone who is also wrestling with her emotions and trying to figure out what she should be doing with her Force powers, but that's probably too much to expect from a mainstream Star Wars movie, especially one under Disney's umbrella. Young P
*Also vague spoilers* Finn's storyline is really thematically important though. Both the overall story and Finn's ongoing character arc would be incomplete without it. I get the feeling people keep singling out Finn and Rose's excursion as a main flaw with the movie because it feels tonally different from the rest of what's going on, and features a somewhat un-Star Warsy chase scene. The actual story beats here are no more disposable than Poe's storyline (which people also seem to have problems with, but nobody suggests excising from the movie) Edited December 27, 2017 by Young P Quote Link to comment
