Zelda: Tears of the Spoiled - A thread where any discussion is allowed

Recommended Posts

One month on, some would say spoilers are now fair game, but the game is huge and not everyone has the time to finish it yet. So I'm starting a new thread for anything you all want to talk about the new Zelda.

I'm not going to post anything in this post that's spoiler-y, just consider this a warning post.

THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR TEARS OF THE KINGDOM

I really missed Kass and wish there was little more connection with BotW, even if they just mentioned something about the dangers of Calamity taking over the Guardians/Divine Beasts so they dismantled them. Having NO remnants of either was just...off... to me

Making progress in one of the regions, and I must say finding a shrine inside of a death star was pretty cool!

First thing I thought when seeing that, "that's no moon"

So…apparently you're supposed to dispel the storm clouds around Thunderhead Island and not stumble around blind like an idiot. Welp, something to keep in mind for future playthroughs I suppose.

Yeah, I miss Kass, and particularly his theme song. Gameplay-wise I understand why they'd cut out anything Guardian/ancient Sheikah related to instead focus on the Zonai stuff, but story-wise it's pretty conspicuous that it's just completely gone. Would've been funny to even just have a side quest about a Guardian roaming around (maybe there is a side quest like that, I didn't find them all, after all).

lol I did that too! It was one of the few remaining areas unexplored and I thought the story was wrapping up, so I hot-air ballooned myself up there.

Even just some dialogue from the Zonai survey team like "After we finished dismantling the last of Guardians/Divine Beasts, Zelda had us start investing the Zonai Ruins we came across"

Also, I miss the THREAT of the Guardians, you could be exploring anywhere and one chimes to life, or you see one roaming and that theme kicks in. Mind you there are a lot more monsters in this one, but it's not the same.

Closing in on 85% as I gather up all these Koroks. I'm not using a map/guide for the wells, yet, as I've got it assigned to my Sensor+ as I collect Koroks, hopefully that finds the 2 I'm missing. Luckily this is also how I came across the missing Side Quests, I'm down to 1 and it's the Well one, so I can claim I found all those on my own ;)

Haha yup same thing for me. I stumbled on the Fifth Sage earlier so after doing all the Regional Phenomena I wanted to explore everywhere before doing what I assumed was the final quest. Even worse, the whole time I was up there I thought "surely there's a way to clear up the weather or a helmet that lets you see through the rain or something" but oh well, I still got the shrine up there in the end.

Was it the story quest to go to Hyrule Castle after they see Zelda? Because when I hit that, that's when I went exploring and came across the Sage. I had found the area in the Depths already but couldn't figure it out, then completely forgot about it thinking "something will point me there later", but then hit that part in the story where you're to follow Zelda to the Castle and thought I was at endgame. I actually thought Mineru was like a "secret Sage" until I then finally went after Zelda and found out it was part of the story lol.

I think I am approaching endgame.

There are only two times in this game I had to look up help in where to go/what to do?

The start of the Gerudo phenomenon and how to start the fifth sage main quest. How was I suppose to know ruins of legend was in Kakariko Village. There's ruins of legend in this game. So I traveled everywhere to find these ruins and in the sky till I gave up and looked up what I had to do, lol. Spent like 2-4 days trying to figure out on my own. Fun in discovery other things but I wanted to get somewhere in this game story, lol.

It's funny hearing here and online the most ppl have accidently stumble upon the 5th sage pretty early on in their game not I. I think that would be the case with me if I bother to explore the skies. The only time I visit any of the sky islands is when I had the fill in a area of the skyview towers, completed and objectives and or shrines up there. The Faron region thunder island, if I recall seem far to me to get to when I unlocked that area map so until I had to find the 5th sage is when I properly has to go there.

But you see that is the sort of ingenious design of this game similar to BotW, you can do anything, at anytime. Speaking about anything.

For those who were construction the 5th sage body, how many actually use the zonai devices around to transport the bodies to the 5th sage?

I ask because 3/4 into it was nearing my bedtime and I didn't want waste a bit of time thinking what I had to do to get the body part around. What I did, I finesse it, I used Hover Stones to move the body part to where I needed it  go, lol. I had a lot of them stored and they are very useful, like some of the thing this game make you forget, oh yeah, I have that I here.

So that's how I did mine, lol.

I somewhat miss Kass but I miss more the acknowledgement of the Guardians at all in this game. It feels so weird that the threat that they were in the last game it such a afterthought or no thought at all in this game.

I swear the only time they are visible acknowledge is in the Skyview tower cutscene. Regulated to hand helpers to Link, look how far they have fallen. SMH.

Yep, exactly, haha. I think I started the Fifth Sage quest when I just randomly took a Recalled rock up into the sky in the forest/jungle area; she was actually the second Sage I unlocked. And then before the Hyrule Caste quest I went back to Thunderhead Island trying to find any shrines I had missed, and very slowly triangulated the location of the shrine with the help of travel medallions, hah.

I tried to use the Zonai devices provided, though I think I'd typically hit a rock or crash or something and then just carry the body part with Ultrahand the rest of the way.

There are "Ancient Blades" you can get to fuse to arrows to make Ancient Arrows, and there's a Guardian on the roof of Hateno Research lab. A few places (Zelda's study, research labs) have sketches of them. That's about it.

I think I only realized because I stumbled upon it. I can't see it being easily to go "ohhh so that Zelda was fake, so that means I can explore that one piece of Ring Ruins now when I tell them she was fake"

I did assemble the body using the tools provided, I was trying to solve as many puzzles "as intended" without just using stocked Zonai devices and shortcutting everything.

Oh, I am aware of those ancient blade I come across them in the game and where you get the secret stone, you can trade Zonite for ancient blades, correct me if I am wrong?

Despite that still think there's not a lot Guardian reference, well I haven't beat the game yet so knows I hope there is more than what I seen so far in.

-------------

Of course you use the tools as intended.

You are so mechanical precise when it comes to playing this game and how you are slowly completing. I expect no less from you!

Correct, it's weird that it's also a sidequest the first time you do it. I rarely attach anything than Keese parts to my arrows.

It's more like, I know I can use parts/sages and easily surpass things/puzzles in the game. But I like to first try it with what's laid out before me. Like when I was lighting up the Depths postgame, I still ran around and did it, though I could just as easily made an airship and just flown from one lightroot to another. Part of this is also because I don't know what the map needs for 100%, and I don't want to fly over a location and not have it register or something.

I breached 90% last night! 240 Koroks to go! Just one Well and all those and sidequests are done too!

That's where you and I are similar. I may not complete every game I play (even the one I really, really like but) when it came to the depths, (I'm probably 40% complete) I like to run in a way I can manage to keep going. But really early on by chance in the depths I found one of the miner outfits. I more so run out of arrows then brightbloom so I just put the body part on (haven't found the rest) and explore till I want to stop. It is easy to stop in section of islands in the sky unless you just want to discover island for a playthru. Also, just like in BotW and now in TotK on the surface, I mostly get around by foot or horse but lately the horse can't get me to where I want to go. (Tho much of this Hyrule is same, there's the littlest of changes that a horse before in BotW can get you where you need to go) So like some mechanics you forget in this game, I need to build shit with ultrahand or autobuild. Like I use ultrahand but not to get around Hyrule tho.

Also, sages sort of make this game easy. I turn them off. Glad there's a option for that. Smart thinking there. I turn them on unless I absolutely need them.

For each temple, I only used the Sage it was for. When I was "big game hunting" I'd bring out the full crew for the fights. Tulin is almost always summoned for the mobility boost when gliding, Yunobu if I'm mining, but that's about it.
