The group stage is slated to begin a week from tonight on Saturday 8/12. As in last year's version of the competition, the 16 teams will be placed in 2 groups of 8, with single round robin play within each group, with the top half of each group advancing to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinal, semifinal, and final will be best of 3 series The venues to be used in the tournament: Halo Park, UNSC Doatec Park, Doatec Francis Drake Stadium, Uncharted Craftworld National Stadium, Craftworld Bandicoot Park, Wumpa Island Unova International Stadium, Nimbasa Moleville Mountain Park, Moleville Halberd Coliseum, Dream Land The Semifinals will be held at Halo Park and Bandicoot Park, and the Final will be held at Halberd Coliseum Edited August 5, 2017 by Triforcemaster3 Quote Link to comment
Fuzzer1 Posted August 5, 2017 Share Posted August 5, 2017 It seems the discussions between the NBL and SBL have progressed well enough that some sources are saying that an announcement of the two leagues doing exhibition matches once the VGWBC ends but prior to both leagues beginning their respective fall seasons could be forthcoming with the reports saying that officials from both leagues could very well make that announcement at the VGWBC draw tonight. Of course league officials, as usual, have declined to comment but both leagues will have a presence there along with the Xbox Basbeball League officials there too. XBL officials who were asked about why none of their teams were asked about taking part in the possible matches said it's because "we don't have a huge roster of franchises to have an even number of teams the other two leagues have given many of our games are already are on other game systems anyway." He added that Fuzzer might make such an announcement at tonight's VGWBC draw, that he had been on the pulse of the inner happenings. Tm3, speaking from his hotel in Manchester, England, said that such an arrangement will be a great benefit to teams in both leagues, especially for the teams not participating in the VGWBC to get their players back up game speed before the Clausura. Fuzzer1 Posted August 6, 2017 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Following the end of the VGWBC draw, a table was set on the stage with several chairs to which Fuzzer, the commissioner of the SBL and TM3, commissioner of the NBL, as well as Coins player Princess Daisy and Bandicoots player Coco Bandicoot emerge to the table and take their respective seats. Fuzzer: Before the night ends, I would like to announce that following weeks of productive negotiations between the Nintendo Baseball League and the Sony Baseball League regarding the possibility of having some exhibition games before our respective Clasura seasons starting in the fall, such series will take place. I have with me the details of the planned series, who's dates will be announced at a later date and what will happen. It will be a combined 4 game series, similar to how MLB Interleague games are split when they're between two teams from the same city and/or region with two games at each stadium. In this case, two games will be played at the NBL stadiums first, followed by two at the SBL stadiums. Whether the DH will be used or not depends on the leagues the two teams play in for that ballpark. Teams will be announcing who their opponents will be in the coming days, but I do have at least one such pairing to announce with the Sarasaland Coins and Wumpa Island Bandicoots facing off each other with the first two games at Sarasaland's National Stadium first and the return leg to be played at the famed Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney, Australia. The two ladies here have several remarks they want to say before the two commissioners sign the deal. Daisy: As a Mario team, we have considered the Crash Bandicoot series as a competitor in the platform genre and to face off against them is special for us because while they haven't won an SBL title to date, they are to us a quality opponent and we look forward to head to Australia for the return leg. Coco: We have always wanted to try to reach out to Australians given that Bandicoot Stadium's attendance for our home games haven't been all that great and to have our games at the famed SCG is a huge step for us. Facing Sarasaland is also special for us because right now that nation is seeing a huge popularity boost in the Mario realm in huge part of their run in the NAFA Confederations Cup and to face them first in their stadium is a sign that there is a possible changing of the guard that may very well happen in the Mario realm, with all due respect to Mushroom Kingdom of course. Fuzzer: All right then. Can I have the two league commissioners please sign the document and pose for photos now? TM3 and the SBL commissioner both sign the agreement to cheers from fans and shake hands before posing with Fuzzer for photos. Taking a page from their photo ops with Peach, Fuzzer and Daisy separately pose for photos with Coco with the princess and Bandicoot both flanking the manager who Coco called "cute" before each kissing him, somewhat odd seeing a human and genetically mutated bandicoot kiss but nothing too odd given the mingling of many species in the leagues anyway. There seems to be a falling out from some of the original teams that will happen after the draft, and are taking the NBL's approach of splitting characters by timeline and association. Some other known franchises will fill in the gaps of those teams respectively. It's likely Microsoft will follow suit four years from now, since they turn 20 in 2021. There are some games that have originated on PCs and on Microsoft, and if a franchise hits both boxes they're under Microsoft. Right now, Underwatch is under their control due to this clause. Let's see what I can pull out of Microsoft... First off, the Racoon City Warriors and Kingdom Heart Keyblades both announced plans to rekindle NBL nostalgia with matches against Mayahem and Smashville respectively indicating the desire to have matches in the former Sage Division "for old times sake," in the matchups. As is the case of the details announced last night, the two NBL teams would host the first two matches with the former NBL clubs hosting the other two matches. Mishima made no secret of having a match with fellow Japanese club Tokyo Typhoons and such an announcement confirmed it today. Lastly, Paris and LA both announced that the two Olympic cities to host the Summer Olympics in 2024 and 2028 respectively would face each other "in the name of good competition between our two Olympic cities," the two teams said. I had good reasons for every one of them, so that it wasn't random. Nothing is out of spite, they're out of simple reasons, needs and wants. However, I'm not touching Sarasaland, because resigning and all that. As I've mentioned, I'll be out of my coaching duties into helping all of the teams. "Most of the team knows me so getting to know everyone is easy," Fuzzer told reporters at Genis Species Park. "We don't know where the first match will be on Saturday but we still want to be well prepared to get into group play with guns blazing like crazy." Quote Link to comment
