What are the rules regarding potentially suggestive image content?

I've been considering a gallery topic for a while now, and I would like to know where exactly the line is in terms of what I could show in a gallery topic. I've been trying to get a feel from images posted in the Yuri Appreciation Topic, and while I think my drawings would be all right to post here based on that thread's images and gifs my drawings are of a different subject focus. I'm planning to use spoiler tags for the images I'm currently unsure of, and while it's not in the realm of porn, there is a lot of gray area below that extreme, so I'm just wondering what subject matters in content posted here are allowed to exist and which ones are not.

I felt any of the images in that thread that involved kissing, and definitely nearly all of the gifs, were NFSW territory, but the thread itself has been a featured topic...so I wasn't sure exactly what the line is here. None of my drawings I personally was on the fence about involved a sexual act, but did focus on the female butt. I'll just leave them out though since there's not much clarity.

Quoting for posterity.

I like how you only have issue with the yuri thread and not the yaoi one.

The yuri thread has much more to go by than the yaoi topic, and goes further than the yaoi topic as well. I didn't feel like the yaoi topic created any confusion for what is and isn't allowed based on its current content.

The last image of this post as well as the gif here (along with the image @Schmengland has referenced here) fall into the same mild NSFW range as the bikini bottoms shot here and here in my opinion, so I was asking for clarification regarding that. I'm starting to think based on your decision to make the above response hours later that this may be less about SFW vs. NSFW, and more about a same sex focus vs. a more heterosexual angle. I hope I'm getting the wrong impression.

I think an important question to ask yourself is whether or not you'd have that same perception if the characters were male and female as opposed to both being the same gender, in particular female.

Because what I'm seeing in those images you cite from the thread are just two people sharing physical affection, and I don't understand how anyone could see them as sexually suggestive unless they think same gender affection is somehow inherently more suggestive than otherwise. This kind of content isn't what people use the term NSFW for.

@Chrom, I get where you're coming from, but I think this is legitimately a mere case of a relatively lower NSFW threshold. I may not be able to relate either, but if he's asking in the interest of figuring out what he can put in his own drawings thread, I really, honestly don't believe this is the issue you're suggesting that it is.

I'm glad that you understand why I'm suggesting this. For the sake of clarity and to assert that Ninfora doesn't tolerate certain ideas, I mean to discuss this in hopes that said ideas won't continue to be perpetuated here and make the site unwelcoming for others. I find calling these images NSFW to be a bit of a red flag given the user's history, so that's how I got motivated to bring this up here.

To be honest, I don't even think those bikini shots are worth a concern either. I think those are very tame, and so are all the yuri images too. It's explicit images or stuff that would otherwise make others reasonably uncomfortable that shouldn't be here though.

In the odd event you may share something that is over the line, it should be known that the staff won't penalize you over it unless you're knowingly posting that kind of stuff specifically because it's inappropriate.

If you had a user create a thread dealing with members of the opposite sex that saw similar popularity and posts as the yuri topic, I still would have been confused regarding how suggestive content can be on this site. The explicit extremes are pretty clear, but there is plenty of gray beneath them. None of the images/gifs discussed in this topic would be something I would consider looking at at work unless I knew I had some privacy while on break, which is why I used the label NSFW, even for subject matters very tame in terms of how suggestive they are.

I think you're taking the term a little too literally. I personally wouldn't look at stuff like that at work either, but what constitutes why anyone labels anything as NSFW is specifically because it's fairly obscene and absolutely would require a warning or tag. If you're familiar with how other places online use the term, then you shouldn't consider this stuff to be NSFW either.

I dunno; I find his reasoning sound in theory.

Perhaps it depends on the work? awesome;

But then, I'm the guy who left his body pillow out during barracks inspections, so I'm probably not one to talk...

When I use the the term "SFW" I don't mean that the images I post are neccessarily comfortable to look at in the presence of your boss or coworkers. I mean only to convey that the images are appropiate for viewing by young people. My criteria is that they should lack any nudity, sexual dialogue, depictions of sexual acts, implications of any prior or forthcoming sexual acts, or any objectifying focus on body parts. That's how people colloquially use the terms "SFW" and "NSFW" to my understanding.

A solid definition for a misnomer, mayhap? :P

I can say with certainty that there is no site that would suggest that this kind of content is actually NSFW. Like, this kind of stuff can be freely found on Reddit or 4chan or some other forum and it wouldn't be labeled that way. There's an implicit meaning to it that is universally understood if you actually see how it's used. Saying that you wouldn't want to see it at your job doesn't mean that it is, because you could also say you wouldn't consider watching a cartoon on the job, but that doesn't mean it's NSFW.
