Chrom
I've seen mixed opinions on it. I personally think it's alright. It looks like it'll eventually be a pain if you have several games stored on it though, folders would be appreciated. I remember Nichalis sharing a version of the menu with a dark backdrop, so hopefully there can be an option to have themes. Quote Link to comment
alienboyva
I think it's pretty good. I kinda like the simple look and the big artwork icons for games (I wonder if we can change the size the like on 3DS?). Though, I feel like it looks a bit plan with a solid colored background. They should have made it animated like how the 3DS has an animated background on the top screen of its home menu, or something. Hopefully with the background being so plain and as mentioned above, the dark menu Nichalis showed off before Nintendo wanted them to, this means we will get themes. I really liked having themes on the 3DS. Edited January 28, 2017 by alienboyva Quote Link to comment
Eliwood8
Seems fine; I am whelmed. I agree that folders to organize digital titles would be great. As it is it reminds me of PS4's UI which is not great for browsing through your games especially with all of the side stuff like PS Share and Music or whatever cluttering up the queue. This at least looks more streamlined than that. Quote Link to comment
Namevah
I'm not making an opinion on one screenshot. AGES, The Guardian Mew, L'Arachel and 2 others 5 Quote Link to comment
The_Fool
A great UI or a horrible UI isn't going to change any feelings I have on the Switch. I'd prefer it be simple, but I'll take whatever. Quote Link to comment
Carl321
I like the simplicity of it but I'm going to need to interact with it to make any assertions. I hope there's a folder system in case we go all out with the VC. Art_de_Cat 1 Quote Link to comment
luigitornado
It'd be telling if folders aren't available at launch. Quote Link to comment
Ithrak Utopia
I think it's simple, which I think is a good thing. I would like to know if the menu can show more games at once, if folders are present and if there will be themes all at the Switch's launch, because those all are current features available at least on one, if not both, of their current systems. Releasing the Switch lacking features present in the current systems wouldn't be a good start. Quote Link to comment
AGES
I like it so far but we need to know more of the details. In all honesty, the the UI should been discussed during the presentation. Why Nintendo isn't discussing it soon as they presented their brand new console, I'll never know. Quote Link to comment
purple_beard
Based on the screenshot alone, I am surprised it doesn't have more a smartphone tile looking menu screen. But I mean... whatever.... Quote Link to comment
Blackout
I like it but I can see pages and pages of VC games making it look ugly Quote Link to comment
Elemental Hero
I doubt they're going to keep a straight line as the menu. It's terrible in every way. It also makes for bad marketing, because it makes the system seem devoid of software options. Especially jarring since Nintendo likes to show the 3DS menu in the straight line configuration more than the grid view. Quote Link to comment
CHAINMAILLEKID
I honestly care very little about the interface. If I can Mash A and get to the game in the system, then I'm pretty happy. Edited January 30, 2017 by CHAINMAILLEKID Quote Link to comment
The Guardian Mew
From what we see here I like that it's simple and clean. I also find it a bit boring, however, in spite of a whimsical aesthetic in the buttons. I'm guessing they plan to make paid themes a thing... Nintendo is big on the nickle and dime stuff these days. Applying my own themes to Vita was fantastic, Xbox One also features this ability, and PS4 partially as well... but I'm sure we'll see nothing but paid themes here. Quote Link to comment

There's no excuse to not have it now that we've established the need for it. Quote Link to comment
L'Arachel
I don't really feel we have enough info to say either way. I'm an old lady that prefers physical media, too, so I guess hunting through digital stuff won't affect me that much anyway. Quote Link to comment
Penance Fracture
I like the bright and simple look and feel, based solely on the one screenshot. It looks a lot like a media player UI, actually, where the game tiles are album covers and the divider at the bottom is a seek bar. Of course, I know that's not what it is, but it mildly amuses me anyway. Quote Link to comment

The excuse, I assume, is that creating a custom OS for a game console is quite difficult, so less important features are pushed aside. Besides, it's not that there's a huge need for folders immediately after launch. Quote Link to comment
