The demo is available to DL for Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition on the Nintendo eShop. You can also Pre-load the game as well too. Also, don't forgot that whatever progress you end the demo with, you can transfer it to the full game. The game releases September 27th.

Screens / Battle gameplay: I assume this will release worldwide? Nice to see another real world AR game like PKMN GO announced. I'm not really into DQ, so I'll pass, but I'm am interested to see how the IP will translate to a real world AR game. First PKMN GO, then the upcoming Harry Potter Wizards unite, and now DQ Walk. Dang! If real world AR games really start to take off, you're gonna have to start picking and choosing which one your're going to play when going out. It'd be pretty hard to play more than on at the same time. ...Unless you have multiple devices.

This looks pretty cool. Though, I'm not sure how I feel about the characters looking more human-like instead of traditional Dragon Quest-like. I know DQ isn't as popular as in JPN, but I wonder if this will ever release in the west? Maybe straight to DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital like the Prof. Layton movie...?

Sites have started publishing their reviews of the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII today, and there've been many positive impressions about it. A few words from some of these publications: Metacritic - 88 Nintendo Life - 9/10 TheSixthAxis - 9/10 Critical Hit - 9/10 IGN - 8.8/10 The game is out in North America and Europe on January 20!

Meant to mention this earlier but I saw that Nintendo recently put the game up for pre-load on the 3DS eShop in North America. Game is out digitally and in stores on January 20. The game is almost here! Who's ready to go to Trodain?

I know some of us here are playing this game right now, so I'd like to open a thread for discussion. For those who just started (or will be later), it's worth keeping a tab on Nintendo's quick-start guide: http://dragonquest7.nintendo.com/quick-start/ I'm at Frobisher right now, and I've been thoroughly enjoying the game so far. I feel as though I'm back in middle-school, playing RPGs for the first time again. My only complaint is that I've spent some time helplessly meandering because there's no indication on how I should progress. I'm really excited for the vocations later on, though. I'm kinda indifferent on the main character. He looks kind of dopey. VIII's Hero is still my favorite based on his reactions and expressions during events. Kiefer is better than I thought. I thought he'd be a spoiled prince, but he's just keen on not taking shit from anyone. Maribelle and Ruff are kinda lumped together as "okay." Discuss.

Opencritic - 84 Metacritic - 81 Attack Of The Fanboy - 4.5/5 Dualshockers - 9.5/10 Hardcore Gamer - 4.5/5 PlayStation Universe - 9/10 CGMagazine - 8.5/10 Gamesradar - 4/5 Gameinformer - 8/10 WCCFtech - 6/10 Not going to lie, I did really like what I played so far of the demo of the PS Vita version. I think I want this. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one here really looking forward to playing this title or not. We've still got a couple of weeks until it's out, but the demo is available right now!
