So, I've been playing Fitness Boxing on the Nintendo Switch almost daily since May 2019. In that time, I've lost 102.8 pounds. There's still work to be done, of course, but dropping 100 had been one of my goals. Making it past that benchmark really feels like an accomplishment.

Nope, that's Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. Good stuff; and that scene with Chun-Li leads into her fight with Vega, which is pretty awesome. She throws a couch at him.

Looks like an individual volume of Rune Solider in there. From the guy who made Record of Lodoss War, it's a parody of fantasy and D&D style adventures. If you don't mind adventure-of-the-week style storytelling and a fairly stupid title character in Louie, there's some entertainment value to be had there.

This means there was a brief period of time when Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was the best game in the series.

If nothing else, at least the DS and 3DS are region free, and with a European release, a translated version of The Secret of Cape West is available and easily playable, just with that extra step of importing it.

Whether it's 20 minutes or 50 hours, a game beat is a game beat.

And I'm not just saying that because half of my list is 1980's arcade games that can be beaten in a single sitting.

So, I looked up Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected on How Long To Beat, and what do you know, it has its own entry page.

    I'm fine counting it.

Which is to say, and I'm sure everyone saw this one coming, someone has beaten Future Connected already and needs to update their list accordingly.

Also, I'm editing this post to note a beat of my own, Muse Dash on the Nintendo Switch, which I'm thoroughly enjoying.

I would suggest the pop culture loop is a bit different when it comes to music, as music is just so much easier to consume that other forms of media.

It is a lot easier to invest three to four minutes listening to a song by a band you've never heard of before than it is to read a 400-page novel from an author you're not familiar with or watch an entire season of a TV show. And, if you stream music, the algorithms are inevitably going to throw something new-to-you your way. Happened to me the other day: while 2003 is by no means recent, just the other day, one of those sites popped some Streetlight Manifesto into my feed. Next thing I knew, I was listening to the entire Everything Goes Numb album, something I just missed completely when it first came out.

I don't think it so much matters how or when you discover a thing you enjoy, whether that thing is music, a video game, a book, whatever.

Shooting shark, you mean to tell me those pioneers of the umlaut are considered obscure? History shows, again and again, how tomorrow soon turns into yesterday, and everything we see just fades away. Even if the symbol remains, some things leave their place before their time. But even things once gone, can return. After all, even Joan Crawford has risen from the grave, even if doing so gets her banned from MTV.

While I question if The Symbol Remains will actually be any good- it's their first album since 2001, and no one remembers Curse of the Hidden Mirror- it's surreal that they're putting new stuff out there.

Reviews have long been a crapshoot.

This is something we have known for years; and there have been quite a number of questionable incidents over the years. For example, the only thing I remember about Kane & Lynch: Dead Men  is the Gamespot review controversy. Driv3r is another that stands out, but there are plenty of other examples we can pull, and I'm talking actual issues, not giving a hyped game getting an 8.8. Of course, I said this nothing there are plenty of legitimate news organizations out there, but gaming review have been mired with controversy for, as has been stated, decades.

Audience reviews have long been questionable as well, and review bombing makes it even harder to tell what's legit and what's not. You can't really just take an aggregated score, whether it's an aggregated score from critics or the audience, at face value anymore. Not that you should, as reviews are a tool. They can be helpful, but I can think of plenty games I enjoyed that reviewers didn't, and that's fine. Entertainment is very subjective.

Board the Platforms does face the same challenge as Break the Targets: those were unique platforming challenges for each character, built around their moveset and jumping ability. A universal stage just wouldn't work as well, given how different characters like Jigglypuff and Little Mac are in the air.

It was a great little platforming challenge, though. As much as I'd like to see that come back, I don't expect them to make 80+ challenge stages for what amounts to a minigame.

Of course, if we're talking stages, I wouldn't object to them bringing back some of the stages that didn't make the cut. The two missing stages that stand out the most to me are Pac-Maze (seriously, it's just so much better than Pac-Land) and Poke-Floats (because of course).

Keep in mind, if you're getting the 2K games (physical or digital), you're going to need some space.

Using Borderlands as an example, the physical version comes with Borderlands on the cartridge and a code for 2 and The Pre-Sequel. The 2K Store states the download will require at least 42 GB. If you've played 2K games on the Switch, this won't come as a surprise. The company's games are among the largest on the Switch in terms of file size.
