  1. We spent most of today doing that final final level. We changed to Yoshi (only time too) because the kevel is ridiculous
  2. David and I played through SMB Wonder and finished everything. Still have the singing piranhas stuck in my head.
  3. Spring break soon and I get freedom from the gremlins for a week. First half is vacationing in LA with my brother (David gets to come along) with a Disneyland day trip. Second half is more wedding planning. I'll need to finalize grades somewhere in there as well.
  4. Davy and I are fairly confident we have a date and narrowed down to two venues (one about 3k and the other 1.75k before taxes and gratuity). We'll visit the other venue a week from today for Spring Break and probably make our final decision thereafter. We also planned our honeymoon to Vegas since it's relatively cheap, neither of us have been there before, and there's lots of good deals in August. Booked hotel, but we'll wait on booking flights for a little while.
  5. Oh thank Arceus I think I found a venue that might be affordable ($1000 food min at $65/pp and $250/hr of rental for Sunday brunch). Venue looks nice too based on the images. Need to figure out if we can do ceremony there without reception and how much. They advertise ceremonies; just not sure if that applies to their smallest room. Parking is a concern, and I feel my parents might get annoyed that it's Oakland ("but think of the crime..." and other white suburbia nonsense that ignores Oakland is a whole ass city), but I feel we can work that out. I'm of course curious why it's so affordable, but my guess is based on the floor plan online, it's always been an event space targeting smaller parties and its location probably means it gets plenty of regular business from downtown. So wedding is more of their side weekend business, basically. In fact, they don't advertise weddings per se, just microweddings specifically.
  6. I'd say not right now. If we can't get SF city hall to work, we'll have to rethink the ceremony and probably find a venue that can do both ceremony and reception.
  7. Something I've been growing very tired with wedding planning is how many places need you to contact them for a quote. And like, they always send a PDF; they absolutely could publish this shit online but they don't. It brings so much planning to a stall. I can't look up restaurant prices, nope, gotta contact them and they only respond during my work hours so every email takes 24 hours. Can't figure out a charter without the restaurant, and oops, the charter might be so expensive that courthouse ceremony doesn't save much in expenses. And because David's parents are flying in from Texas we can't just not have a reception as much as I'd really not want to spend like 2.5k on food and aaaaaaaaa!!! Anyway, maybe the gremlins will keep me distracted from wedding planning for a few hours.
  8. Someone has a method here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonBDSP/comments/sb4eji/changing_the_swarm/
  9. All of this actually happened yesterday to schedule change, and anyway, Davy and I are officially engaged~ Ring also getting resized because measuring ring size hard.
  10. blargh. Waking up at 5am the week after spring our clocks forward is hard. So sleepy.
  11. The ring arrived today. I think I more or less planned how our day off together (Sunday) will go. Take train into the city and get seafood at a nice place by the waterfront, and ask him there or the nearby park. I do not have any idea how exactly I'll hide the ring until I ask. I have cargo pants which can maybe mask a big bulging square, but idk. I do not feel comfortable taking it out of the box lest I lose the ring.
  12. We passed the bill in the senate, but failed the house. No DLS bill has passed the house.
  13. Another complication if we did a big wedding is that nearly every guest would be from my side of the family; David basically doesn't have an extended family. Keeping it small helps sidestep this issue. Speaking of wedding attire, it's dumb, but I'd like to find a suit that's looks like the rune factory wedding outfit, but not so much that it looks like cosplay. Which is to say, finding a white suit with gold trim and such. But that's a future me problem.
  14. I forget how, but last summer we actually had a long conversation for how we'd go about marrying. and mostly decided on a small civil ceremony at SF City Hall because of how expensive weddings can be. We didn't have a lot of money last summer (my old job went to complete shit), so even that wasn't possible at the time, but I feel we'd still move forward with our plan of doing a civil ceremony at SF City Hall (with just our parents as guests) and then having a nice meal in the city (with parents, siblings, and their SOs and kids). Our money situation is much much better, but far from perfect, and I can't imagine spending over 1k (let alone over 10k) for a wedding. We can always do a vow ceremony in the far future if we feel like we're missing out. Even for our wedding bands, I'd probably look at simple white gold/platinum/titanium rings on Etsy.
