  1. It's impressive how much of a dent I was able to make in my 3DS backlog last year. I still have a dozen games on the list, half of which are Etrian Odyssey games. I'm torn between starting either Monster Hunter Stories or SMT Soul Hackers.
  2. Last night I randomly decided to play Earthbound Beginnings. I have a real soft spot for this game. I remember sometime during Summer 2009, we were in the middle of moving, and our new space wouldn't be ready for a few weeks (so we thought at the time.) So for an entire Summer I just had my DS with Pokemon Diamond and TWEWY. With less games on hand, it brought me to playing games on an emulator. I think initially I picked up Mother 1 because the thought was, "Well, I know I want to play Earthbound, so I should play the game before it." Within the span of two weeks, I finished Mother 1. It was
  3. Merry Christmas! I gifted my girlfriend a recording of me reading the entirety of Nintendo Power volume 1. I had to stay late at work a few nights to do the recording, roughly about 6 hours of audio recording. I then had to spend the last few week's in audacity to clean it up and remove all my mistakes. I'd estimate it was 20 hours of editing. The end product was 3 CDs, containing about 3.5 hours of audio. She was really impressed and plans to spend part of her weekend listening to it all. I did grow to like my voice after listening to it for several hours. I like to think it sounds
  4. If cars worked, I'd definitely go sight seeing. I'd probably need to research or at least carry a book on car maintenance. Driving without traffic would be awesome, though. With it being winter, I should probably stick around locally. I'd probably find my new home and hoard food to last through a couple months until the tail end of winter. I've been curious about the Atelier games, particularly Ryza. Problem is that the games tend to never go on sale, and if they do, it's 20% at best. Not sure if I want to invest that much. My girlfriend and roommate have probably seen enough anime
  5. We've had several people in our building test positive. Luckily nobody in my department has caught it. But as soon as that happens, things will go down hill fast. The only response my boss has given us is "We'll figure out what to do when we get there."
  6. Reached the end of FF7 after replaying the game in about 3 days. The 3X speed addition is a game changer. Square's output during the 90's was absolutely insane. I'm thinking I'll replay IX next in the near future.
  7. I got Mario Tennis Aces, and I'm already disappointed that you don't win tournament trophies for each character like in previous games. Now I'm wondering if I've just been conditioned to find superfluous means of spending time in games from playing JPRGs for almost two decades now. The answer is yes. Even when I replay JRPGs, I try to avoid level grinding until I hit a wall. It's part of why I stopped Xenoblade 2. You can't finish the main story without spending a fraction of your time micro-managing and grinding towards certain checkpoints (let alone needing to repeatedly play a separate mini
  8. Combining my girlfriend and I's PS4 collections to a PS5 is also a compelling reason for us. But usually first-print Playstation consoles are pretty bad at surviving 5+ years. I almost wouldn't mind waiting until a revision. The PS5 is ugly as sin, enough that I will probably buy the revision if I obtain the current PS5 beforehand. I feel as though the consumer base will transition much faster this gen than before. Mainly aided by backwards compatibility and compelling software. The only thing stopping consumers is scarcity, low shipments due to the pandemic, and the impending economic co
  9. Started replaying Metroid Prime last night. It's insane that Metroid's first 3D entry, and Retro Studios, were able to knock it out of the park on the first go. I've always wanted to play the trilogy, but that feels like a daunting task. I feel as though most people clamoring for Metroid Prime 4 never played 2 or 3.
  10. Discovered recently that my phone, the Galaxy S20 FE, can do Gamecube emulation via Dolphin, and it plays most games are full-speed. I played an hour of Symphonia and it took only 6% of my battery. That's insane. Now I'm finding myself looking for a controller I can use.
  11. Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations: Holy crap, this one is light years better than Justice for All. JfA is probably why I didn't pick up TaT until several years later. Having much more entertaining and likeable characters goes a long way. I'm not sure if I'll continue on to play Apollo later, it depends on how I feel. Currently trying to finish SMT4 Apocalypse before the end of the year. I think I'm on good pace... I'm at 2/8 moon, and I tend to find myself playing for 2-3 hours in a day when I get the chance. This game is making me want to replay SMT4. I thought the game was good, but
  12. The limited edition stuff is pretty dumb, especially for digital items. Nintendo's been prepping themselves as the Disney of videogames for a long time, with how they've handled most of their legacy content over the years. I will give them credit for how they've been handling emulation recently, with translations of FE and SM64 Shindou, showing they have the capability of updating ROMs with their own tools. The 3D collection atleast shows promise for Nintendo 64 and Gamecube emulation. My girlfriend and I have started watching Card Captor Sakura. This show is pretty fun and cozy to watch.
  13. Is @Chrom going to play Fire Emblem and finish it this time? I call dibs on Merric again.
  14. I've had to block a bunch of websites at work under certain categories including "games". This has rendered Resetera inaccessible, but Ninfora remains open. The real Ninfora were the friends we made along the way.
  15. Ace Attorney 3 is so much better than 2, I'm almost retroactively angry about 2.
  16. Symphonia on the Gamecube is still the best way to play. All the other stuff they added to the PS2 port and onwards don't make up for the lack of 60FPS and superior textures/shading.
