  1. Yeah I will check it out to see how they improved since last demo. I am liking it so far, just curious how it ties into the world of Bravely Default.
  2. My first exposure was the Wii VC. I loved basically everything about it. Never tried 2 for fear of being disappointed due to the lack of Sim elements.
  3. Thanks, @Doc Brown, so glad you found a way to make it work! And thanks @Chromfor the understanding and helping it go through early, just in case. Can confirm Age of Calamity and Blossom Tales are both good choices. Haven’t tried the other one, myself. Lol anyway, happy holidays!
  4. Not personally interested in any of this, but I’m happy for those of you who wanted Among Us on Switch. That’s nice.
  5. It was DLC in the Wii U version. Looks like they are providing access to it again. I was wondering what happened to it...
  6. Yeah I am not really very neatly on one side or another with copyright issues. I don’t think the answer is usually as clear or obvious as some people like to think it is. In this case based on what I am gleaning from here I think it’s fair that Nintendo gets to say no to a paid event using their old game which in some ways can be seen as a rival to their current direction (i.e. you know, Ultimate and its DLC). Anyway the fallout seems kind of childish to me... from both sides. The fans are as usual a bit over-zealous and Nintendo canceling an unrelated event is obviously petty. I don’t know enough about the Etika situation but am I understanding correctly that some random guy is making skins for joycons using brand logos and names, pocketing a bunch of it and giving the rest to a charity unrelated to Etika’s family? If so that’s just ridiculous. Obviously Nintendo is not the bad guy there... In general I suggest saving one’s energy for more legitimately bad business decisions I am sure they are also making...
  7. Yeah, there’s a lot we just do not know, too. Cia-like DLC is an interesting idea. I can get behind that. I mean, I had fun with the game and everything, it’s just really the canon discussion (and by extension how the story was delivered) that I am a bit negative on.
  8. Hey I’m not trying to stomp on anyone... I’m just saying I think the arguments against canon are quite a bit stronger than for canon. Okay, well, here goes on the list of differences off the top of my head (spoilers): But none of that matters compared to the real world issue I mentioned in my last post. Even if they write over all of that and chalk it up to the “history depends on who writes it” philosophy, do they really want to box themselves into another OoT situation? That’s my two cents.
  9. I think it makes perfect sense. The remake just released this year and they would have likely been working on putting him in for months now. From a business perspective this is exactly the kind of choice I would expect: choose a rep from a high profile modern game. Just so happens to be a very popular character in gaming to boot, and with recent cross-platform cooperation it seems the perfect choice, really. Mind you I wish it was someone else, personally... but I am happy with this one.
  10. Is it really Wednesday already? Wow. What ever happened to goose Tuesday, though? Or is that Thursday? Help me out, meme experts...
  11. I think it’s pretty clear that a spin-off game can take whatever liberties they want... adding elements, removing them, introducing characters and dynamics... I don’t think the descendants knowing about Link in BotW means it’s necessarily canon. I don’t think Terrako starting in BotW’s timeline means it’s necessarily canon. I think the sheer amount they messed up BotW’s memory sections make this probably not canon. Realistically Terrako going back in time wouldn’t change absolutely everything about how things played out in the past, especially since for a long time they were just studying him (her, it), meaning the natural progression of things wouldn’t have automatically been altered nearly as drastically as they appeared to be. So my point is, I don’t think the story was delivered as cleanly as if it was supposed to be canon. And it is a spin-off game... Nintendo doesn’t have to adopt it. They can if they want of course, but creating another canon timeline split also puts expectations on them to deliver on that I’m not sure they will want to have to do again... As in, people would expect them to make more games following BotW similarly to all the games that followed OoT. Creatively, that’s very restrictive.
  12. Yeah I am pretty firmly in the non-canon camp now. Exactly as you said, they ended up changing too much for it to fit very well. Well I am in what I would call the post-post-game now, and I have some additional thoughts. Spoiler for the final unlockable character.
  13. For the Nidoran event a got a shiny of both genders, and managed to evolve both to final form. Also finished the Victini tasks this weekend.
  14. Honestly just wait and come back to it. It won’t go away. There’s lots of other things to do while you level up. Then when you are higher level it will be easier. No real need to torture yourself unnecessarily.
  15. What level is Impa at? At or slightly above the recommended level? And what level is Impa’s weapon at?
  16. Yes, I think they were going for a similar aesthetic with the citadel, @DLurkster. Ok so I beat the game a couple nights ago and have been mulling it over a bit.
  17. Yeah I had to deal with them, too. We were lucky and managed to beat them without fumigation. Sacrificed some children furniture in the process, though...
  18. Yeah I agree. IMO it affects certain character relationships negatively, too, which bugs me a bit. I think that you’re right. It’s OoT all over again, of Nintendo adopts this into their canon. It makes me wonder if BotW2 follows BotW’s timeline or this one?
  19. I signed up too! Thanks to everyone who will be helping make this work for this year.
  20. I am enjoying it too but... yeah I am not sure how this story could be canon, either. It is quite spectacular though in terms of presentation (music, horde battles, environment, all come together quite nicely). I suppose it helps that I only play handheld, as I hear frame rate dips a fair bit docked (have not verified this myself yet though). The voice acting has improved since BotW, IMO. The optional characters are the bomb. My regulars though are Link, Urbosa and Revali. I’m also a bit overwhelmed by how much there is to do outside the main quest, although the power up quests are fairly repetitive. In any case I think it’s a great game even if not everyone’s cup of tea.
  21. I think it should win due to the cultural impact alone. A great deal of people have treated it as “the pandemic relief game”. It helps that it’s also a solid stand-alone experience, anyway. The only potential obstacle to them winning IMO is that it doesn’t really represent any sort of technical milestone. Guess we’ll have to see.
