I live in a new place, with new friends, and a lot of new experiences. I haven't been here in a very long time. I'm very glad to see that this community is still here!
 
 
That's definitely the case for me and FF6. I have much higher tolerance somehow for developing the Jobs in FF5, however, and that could be argued as tedious.

I beat Skyward Sword!! that was incredible, 9/10 game wowzers
 
i think my favorite section of all was getting all the pieces to the Song of the Hero  

literally NO one uses those bathrooms, if anything id assume that when the goddess sent them all up into the fuckin sky she removed part of their humanity and now they're just living as fake humans with all the trappings for tradition's sake

skyward sword is so much fun, i dont even wanna play anything else lately  very grateful i did not play this game when it came out, i think i mighta hated it if i had to play w motion controls lol

Idk I think value depends on your priorities. If you want a long game I wouldn't recommend any Metroid game. But if you want a really polished and good short game that you can replay a ton I would. I don't think value is always related to length because that Resident Evil 2 remake from a few years ago was one of the best received games that year and you can beat it in under 2 hours easily. Same with almost every Metroid game. People still talk about Zero Mission and you can beat that game in an hour. A 20 hour long 2D Metroid I don't think would even be a good game tbh.

I only saw this opinion take root from Sony fanboys and such, calling it a glorified indie game simply because it's 2D. It's not just a Metroid thing, but growing animosity towards anything 2D nowadays, or anything that isn't a big budget AAA 3D title. The usual kind of elitism.
 
Dread may not have like an Odyssey or BotW kind of budget, but it's a AAA game nonetheless, and it still looks like a Switch game, compared to Pokemon Sword/Shield that looked like an upscaled 3DS game. Not to bring up that topic again, but I can understand people having taken issue with SwSh being $60 more, given the lower price that mainline Pokemon games always were prior. Everything Nintendo 1st party now though (having merged their handheld and console divisions to a singular system with the Switch) will be $60 now, no matter how pretty it looks or if it's 2D or 3D, and at this point it's just one of those things you have to live with. Whether said game will be worth the price is up to you though of course, but for Metroid fans, this game is. Dread is like the Half Life 3 of the series, something long gone that everyone thought would never be back, and people are gonna consume it.

i dont think TTYD is superior, tho it did improve on the original in a lot of ways...i have about the same love for both, which is how i feel about pikmin 1 and 2, too
