  1. it's really interesting cause everything is so vibrant and expressive but lots of things seem rushed. like the intro screen has no animation or music but then most of the game is really detailed. i think there were difficulties with the way the text worked that stopped ppl from translating in the past, so it'd have to wait til somebody really motivated comes around
  2. here u go nerds https://ninfora.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12210-london-n4a-chat-thread-april-2023/
  3. it's been on hold while i focus on reading for better jp gains, but i found this super cute ps1 rpg a lil while back that never got translated. and it takes place in the v cool fantasy setting of uh. london. london seirei tanteidan that's what i look like rn sleeping on whatever the hell is actually coming out this month idk there didn't seem to be much tbh anyway it's april so i'm in charge of the thread ok i don't make the rules
  4. i made that other chat thread about being excited for switch version of dokapon, but i ended up getting my partner a wii for their birthday anyway and we were playing it nonstop for days straight basically horribly addicting little thing
  5. do you really drink 4 gallons of milk a week that is honestly impressive lol
  6. sold mine to some mum in like 2016 for the same price i bought it used for
  7. spring has pretty much already started here. heat wave came in mid february, earlier than usual
  8. definitely all the mario karts have rubberbanding, though SMK is just a harder game in general than the rest. they got kinda scared of making things too difficult in other mario kart games. though i'll take bowser or whoever tossing shit in front of me than praying i don't get blue shelled for the third time lol SMK is just. a super hard game to play precisely. it was actually based off the F-Zero engine so the mechanics are really cool though none of it really taught by the game itself sadly. time trials in that game are super interesting though. it's funny that you mention dead ends, btw, because you would think nintendo wouldn't do that any more either, but I played the new MK8 tracks recently and i kept turning into the wrong streets on the germany (i think), and getting lakitu'd constantly because i was focused on following the natural path of the road and not just paying attention to the arrows
  9. you really like the Super Circuit versions more? that's interesting since it's the only game to somewhat share SMK's physics. the presentation's way worse though and a lot of the courses are dumbed down. compare Rainbow Road w the Super Circuit remake and it's like dead in comparison
  10. definition of a remaster even more bleak than i thought
  11. Super Mario Bros. USA (2) (Switch), didn't time it. wart was pretty tough, but really fun. first time ever beating the game. mighta been a "fake" mario game but a challenging ending was very refreshing for a change Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES), in 17h56m this game took me freakin' 18 hours and roughly half of that time was spent on the second-to-last boss and accompanying stage in the second loop, because you don't get the true ending until you beat the boss with a weapon that has awful range and only does good damage when you're right in his face. and you gotta do it after getting through a huge gauntlet of enemies, with only 2 hits w no refills, and 5 minutes on the clock it wassuper satisfying to get good at the game up to that point, even if frustrating and unfair at times, but an absolute nightmare at the very end. i would say if anybody tries to do this on their own, playing on switch or something so you can savestate before those bosses is probably for the best although i imagine if you're playing SGnG you're probably a glutton for punishment anyway lol. def among the hardest games i've ever beaten, or at least the most grueling we did it though
  12. it's just "tears," as in rhyming with "tier," as per the japanese title (which is in english, but the japanese writing doesn't leave room for this homonym ambiguity)
  13. i can't believe sarah hates trannies wowow ilu sarah
  14. i've really gotten on a kick w japanese study recently and have been speeding through a cute gay VN lately (not the one i posted about here in the past). managing to read like 3-4 hours daily around 4x a week (only timed while i'm actually reading thanks to a webpage option, so the actual sessions are longer). and just feeling super optimistic about breaking through my long plateau and consistently consuming enough japanese to be competent in the language in time
  15. maybe i'm too indifferent about it, but i feel like the whole thing is a relic of the past. a big in-person conference with lots of goofy setpieces and such is just totally unnecessary for sharing news with consumers, and though it was fun to experience reveals with a crowd, you can pretty much do the same thing watching directs with friends. streamers often watch it live, too, so it's not hard to find a big crowd. it wasn't even open to the public until recent years, long past its heyday. like the most memorable moments ppl i'd see ppl share outside of game news they could get anywhere were like, CEOs and presenters being hilariously awkward. and if that's your cup of tea, the relevant companies are all present
  16. trans hysteria is on track to cause the UK to implode w them blocking that scottish trans bill lol i say add as much fuel to the fire as you want a lot more fun than here where half of politics is like "yea we straight up wanna eradicate trans ppl altogether" and the other half is "cmon can't we compromise" i haven't checked it out since it only had a few volumes in jp but Witch Hat is soooo good. i really need to go back to it "similar HP vibes" really does it a disservice though. there's no weird neolib cop propaganda and racist/antisemitic caricatures
  17. https://ninfora.com/forums/index.php?/topic/11523-dokapon-castle-ninfora-chat-thread-february-2023/ new thread ok
  18. so, dokapon kingdom is indirectly responsible for my partner and i meeting, and we've been trying to thrift a wii for months (partly bc online prices are bullshit for NA games nowadays and partly just cause we like thrifting). but we only found one very questionable one that we passed on bc i wasn't in the mood to spend a lot of time trying to fix and clean it (kinda regret it though) anyway, i found out like last week that it's coming to switch and we're super stoked, so here's the first excuse i've had to make a thread in like two years
  19. i watched it again recently for the first time in eons and it still holds up great tbh. i recapped via the first two movies but i would recommend just watching the anime -> the third movie bc the pacing kinda makes everything feel brushed past don't be like me and stop with just the anime on your first watch though it's extremely worth it
  20. as always, i'm totally gonna participate this time January: Super Mario Bros. USA (2) February: Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (17h56m)
