  1. Really looking forward to this gen, though it seems clear they're not doing much as far as innovation goes this time around. I enjoyed the trailers, and Scorbunny already has my heart. <3 The other two are nice too. The other two are nice too. I've seen tons of cute starter fan art on Twitter, and I'm enjoying that, as always. However, I have to say, the direct itself was really lacking. Everyone was so low energy and sombre, even the translator sounded bored. This was an exciting reveal, but you couldn't tell it by the direct itself. Hope they step up their game next time.
  2. I'd be very curious to know how Game Pass would work on Switch. A reasonable best case scenario: we see things like the XBLA remake of Banjo Kazooie on Switch, and free with Game Pass. That'd be pretty great. I just don't see Nintendo allowing any third party games to be available for free with game pass, with the possible exception of any Microsoft-developed games. New games would be great, but somehow I doubt that's what's happening here. More likely it's an indication that we could see retro Rare titles hit the platform. Not getting my hopes up for anything super special, though. Nintendo better step up the pace on firmware, either way. An Xbox app would have things like on-console party chat and access to the messaging system. Y'know, things a console should have from the moment a required online subscription service starts.
  3. Came as a shock, to be sure. Nintendo is probably the only company where I feel a little sad when someone like this steps away from the company. I loved how much he embraced the memes... we'll surely not see another quite like him.
  4. Like I told my cousin when we first started playing, it's the first BR game that actually feels like it was designed to be a BR game from the start, rather than a mode stitched on because the genre is popular, or something thrown together from bland assets that's barely functional and more than the sum of it's parts. That, paired with extremely solid gameplay, fun polish, quality of life features that other games don't have, and hero shooter elements, is what makes it the new front-runner in the genre. A lot of people forget that Respawn, the development studio, is made up of the developers that made CoD a game that exploded in popularity. The games that the franchise still models their experiences after. They left Infinity Ward to do their own thing, which first culminated in Titanfall, and now this. They know shooting games, and it really shows. I wouldn't say everyone that doesn't like BR games will like this, but I do think it's worth a shot if you like hero shooters and have some friends to jump in with. I can't really recommend playing it alone, because solo queuing in team based games these days is usually a terrible experience.
  5. Anyone playing this new battle royale? According to the tracking I've got about 50 top 3 finishes, and I'd estimate around 12 of those are wins. I really like it. I'm so glad someone finally moved past the reluctance to have asymmetrical characters in a BR, and moved it more toward a hero shooter with stronger team elements. The gameplay and polish are pretty fantastic. The biggest problem I do have with it is the latency. I feel like I'm back on my old 6mbps connection, and that was an unspeakably bad time. I'm maining pathfinder. Mostly because I find him the most fun to play in moment to moment gameplay.
  6. Super happy they're remaking this, and don't mind the art style, but the speed that Link seems to run worries me. To me it just looks like traversing the world could be dreadfully sluggish. Pegasus boots will probably help, but it's hard to say how much. I'll wait for more footage, though, we still don't know much yet.
  7. I can't believe they made a Tetris battle royale. I think I'll download this soon, I want to try it out. Edit:
  8. Words can not express how much I've been waiting for this! Of all the games I wanted a Switch sequel or port of, this was definitely top 3! Now we have Smash, Hyrule Warriors, Pokken, and soon enough we'll have Mario Maker! Pretty much just waiting on a Pikmin collection at this point. This game in particular though, probably only took a second seat to Smash Bros. It's just such a spectacular idea, with fantastic execution. A wonderful celebration of one of the biggest genre defining franchises of all time! Creating, sharing, playing, I can not wait!
  9. An unusually good month. I'm going to have to try to raise enough money to get a sub.
  10. Depending on how alive the servers are by the time I get it, I may go for that version. I've seen some hilarious moments watching people play too.
  11. It seems like a lot of fun. If I had the money to spare, I'd already have it. What are you playing it on, Steve?
  12. I knew it was going to be bad, because they're shoehorning in a chat app as the main form of communication, but I didn't know it was going to be this bad. They didn't just go out of their way to make the app system work, they invested 100% in the ridiculous thing. They didn't even think twice about leaving room for conventional measures. That is beyond backwards. There are going to be soooo many people that pull their Switch off it's base from an audio line. But maybe that's what they wanted, since Switch 2.0 will surely fix it. Congratulations early adopters, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  13. Wrong thread. And apparently something ate the text I copied for the other thread...
