  1. I like that we are getting a mainline Pokemon game on the switch, I liked the new footage of Odyssey, and I'm stoked for the BotW content, but I really had my heart set on Animal Crossing.

    tangelo

I was just talking about a tangelo today... weird.
  3. I decided to start looking for a Nintendo Switch to buy today. After a lot of angry store clerks telling me there are no consoles in stores anywhere, I've resorted to eBay. Spring Break is this week and even if I don't get to spend the entire week playing the Switch, I'd still resort to Scalpers to try and get some fun out of my break.
  4. The mecha marathon minigame in Mario Party 2. I have been stuck on the minigame coaster for weeks now.
  5. I expect the above conversation to go on for a little while longer, but I am very interested in what people who are active in this group think about the story that blew up today about Marine Le Pen refusing to wear a hijab. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/21/europe/marine-le-pen-headscarf-lebanon-grand-mufti/ I'm not looking to chime in with my thoughts or to be a bystander who finds satisfaction reading opinions that are contrary to my own; I do read this thread a lot and for the most part I stay silent and only chime in when I think I should. On twitter mostly, there are two arguments to the above article: Pro-Feminist V.S. Anti-Islam. I'm just curious what your guys' thoughts are.
  6. Yes, BUT THE MEDIA. Yes, yes, yes I will say BUT THE MEDIA. If you think that just because you criticize the media you cannot criticize PewDiePie, well, that's false. If someone did a news article on a present-day Hitler and the contents were factually wrong, but the news article reprimands Hitler, I'm not going to be like, "Well, this article is against Hitler so I'll support it." Falsehoods get us nowhere. We have a conversation ongoing now about the morality of the situation, but it's not based on facts of the WSJ. ETHICS IN JOURNALISM matters a great deal, and just because you find hate speech to be a big problem too doesn't mean that people can't call out the hypocrisy of the WSJ. Normalizing false journalism is detrimental, too; it doesn't have to be a choice of which is worse. They can both be bad. I just cannot believe that emphasizing journalistic integrity is deemed as a bad thing is this situation. EDIT: Here's a video from a guy I watch pretty regularly that explains the situation pretty well.
  7. PewDiePie at this point can only apologize, which he has done. Now we have an indicator for what kind of YouTuber he is, companies like Disney can decide if they would like to partner with him, etc. etc. Now whether you think PewDiePie is a full-blown Nazi or someone who tried to push boundaries in the realm of comedy but failed miserably (which admittedly are not mutually exclusive, but for PewDiePie's sake I think we can all agree this is the dividing line most people have with him), I mean I think you can chalk that up to a difference of opinion with all we know. No one is clairvoyant here. This is not an apologist or '''moderate'''' stance, this is just the facts. Whether you find what he did to be moral is not being discussed here. In the times we are in, being a credible source is not just something to reach for. It's crucial for the success of our country at this point. And even if we weren't in this current state, unethical journalism has and always will be a moral issue that I think we shouldn't just glance over. We have a president in office who is trying to turn the people against all major media outlets so that every negative thing reported about him can be chalked up to fake news. You know what does not help this situation? News organizations, like the WSJ, creating out-of-context articles in attempt to defame someone, no matter how justified they are. Be a fucking credible source. We need that right now, especially from news sources that are big names in the game and people expect to trust. If the facts are there, which many of you have pointed out that the facts are indeed there, you do not have to do gymnastics to achieve your point. If all you read in an article is "Death to all Jews" but you haven't reported the whole context of the who/what/why it was said, of course you will be mad. Let people be mad with those contexts included, let people be mad that it was said period, but give the context. Let people judge his character with the full story attached. For a news organization to call into question the character of any person without presenting all of the facts to the public just so more people agree with their own personal stance, frankly, is disgusting journalism. Would anyone be upset if their English teacher read aloud Huck Finn? That's clearly a situation where "so-and-so said the n-word", but if the certain context was provided, that person would at least get the decency of being a human being: having all of the facts being reported so people can make well-informed decisions about their character. People can then individually judge the person for saying the n-word based on if they think it's okay to say it when reciting passages, not this mass mentality of falling under blanket statements. Hate PewDiePie, I don't care, that's your decision to make based on the facts. You won't get that in the WSJ. I don't think he's the spawn of Satan. Just do not minimize the WSJ's error just because they are aligned with your political ideologies. What they did was disgusting, but not only was it disgusting, it was only aiding President Trump's antics. Anyone reminiscent of BuzzFeed?
  8. Could you change my color to #3B3B3B ? I am kind of tired of the loud pink color
  9. I think what this administration is doing to news sources like CNN is actually disgusting. But seriously fuck the WSJ.
  10. No one seems to have posted him yet, but he was hanging outside the library, too.
  11. I just caught a wild Azumarill and Ledian in front of my campus library. I have yet to see a wild Marill or Ledyba tho.
  12. Just got my Blissey, so I am content EDIT: If you look at a bunch of Pokemon's evolve section, there's an extra item along with the 100 needed candies.
