I often think about how Nintendo used to have two mainstays: the home console and the handheld business. For a while, I thought that going into mobile was the new second leg in case the home console (which is now hybrid) failed. But looking at their performance on mobile, I feel like they did it just to please their shareholders, because they are not aggressive on that platform at all. It could be that their visual content is the true second pillar and safety net that they are building, which if they succeed, can take them to whole new heights. Convert older Wii & DS fans, non-Nintendo fans, to their integrated hardware software business.
