  1. Completed Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster. I largely did everything there was to do except for the super bosses. Mastered all of the jobs in the game with everybody and Exdeath was still a pain to beat even with doing that. This is oneof only 2 mainline non-mmo FF games I had never beaten. The other being III which that will be rectified once I get paid and dl the pixel remaster of the third game. The 3D version on DS was always so slow and ridiculously difficult to keep my attention. One of these days I will finish that version of it but I would rather play the pixel remaster version of it. C: 3 H: 0 PC: 0 O: 3
  2. Just beat Final Fantasy VII ReBirth on PS5 and it was an amazing game. I have some nitpicks like everyone does with any game but it is easily the best PS5 title I have played thus far. It is a true 9.5/10 title. C: 2 H: 0 PC:0 O: 2
  3. Just beat my first game of the year with Phantasy Star IV on my Analogue Pocket, so basically emulation. I own this game on the Sega Genesis Mini, Wii Virtual Console, and through the Genesis Switch collection. One of the best 16-bit RPGs ever made and is up there with Chrono Trigger & FFVI in my opinion. I am just gonna count it as beating it on the original system since the mini is as close to it without having a physical copy. Don’t feel like doing the ending credits so I will put this awesome psychedelic acid trip of a dungeon up that you go through right before the final boss. C: 3 H: 0 PC: 0 O: 3 1. Phantasy Star IV (Genesis) (1/16/2024) 2. Final Fantasy VII ReBirth (PS5) (3/18/2024) 3. Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster (Switch) (3/27/2024)
  4. Just beat FFXVI on the PS5. I did all the hunts and sidequests as well and this is by far the best final fantasy I have played since IX. I loved every damn minute of it. Easily one of the best. If you got a PS5 you need to play this game. I honestly can’t throw enough praise upon this game. The only downside is it is a PS5 exclusive for now. A PC version is in the works but that comes out next year. C: 15 H: 3 PC: 1 O: 19
  5. Just beat Super Mario Wonder at 100% completion with all 6 medals. Easily the best 2D Mario game since World on SNES. Nintendo really knocked this one out of the park. Wasn’t expecting it to be as amazing as it actually is. C: 14 H: 3 PC: 1 O: 18
  6. I got really lucky with Conker. Found a one in real good condition for $50 about a year ago. Totally understand your point.
  7. Just beat Castlevania The Adventure ReBirth on the Wii U via Wii virtual console. Criminally underrated and forgotten title thanks to not being re-released and it is forever stuck on the now defunct Wii Shop Channel. I am glad I bought it when I did and that I still have it. 8. I feel like review bombing anything just because you don’t like that it is “woke” or more accurately that directors and writers are trying to incorporate diversity & representation into their shows is ridiculous. Like I said, I can understand if they just put that stuff in there just to put it in there and it serves no purpose. Star Wars with Rose & Fynn comes to mind. There just was no point in it. I think it is funny that the last series didn’t get review bombed over them drastically changing Isaac’s character (for the better) from that David Bowie queer-coded version of him from CoD. As far as the movies go? You always have actors and actresses trying to hype up and market their performances as something original when the majority of it never is. However, that shouldn’t give fans legitimacy through RT or any other review aggregate to review bomb the hell out of something. This gives people who might know nothing about the show the wrong impression. Nocturne wasn’t as memorable as the 1st season of the last series but that is a very high bar to reach. I felt that the writing was good and that the animation and voice acting was on par. It did a good job of setting things up for the next season which has already been announced by Netflix. They also had some changes happen between the end of the last series and this one. Warren Ellis is no longer the show runner or writer and that is going to inevitably make it different. At least they kept most of the big players but when ya lose the main creative mind behind the show, that can be a mother fucker. Another thing to keep in mind is that I don’t believe Koji Igarashi had much to do with this series. The TV show was also baking in the oven for almost a decade or so. This series is coming to us when they lose their show runner/writer (and for good reasons) and being made during a pandemic. It is not gonna be flawless but it is way better than it should be lol. Warren Ellis worked very closely with IGA so they could make a show that stood proudly above all the other game adaptations. I enjoyed the show and I believe the future seasons are going to kick serious ass. I am not sure if it will be as good as the last series. That is a very tall order but it doesn’t have to be. It just needs to be a good adaptation of the Rondo & Symphony era of CV and I feel it is on a very good start. I understand that, it is just annoying when you see that the criticism is complete bullshit. That Is why I decided to review it on here and I do plan to do a video review soon once I can get the time to really delve into all this crazy shit. I want people to know that this show is worthy of the Castlevania name and this is coming from somebody who is hardcore as fuck when it comes to this series. The Castlevania series is one of my favorite video game franchises of all time right next to Zelda and Mario. If it was truly bad, I would be the first one going off about it but it is not. So it is has less to do with caring about what people think than it does with misleading fans who may not want to watch it just because of the negative reviews. I want everyone to see both series because they are just so good and so much fun. You don’t even have to be a fan of the games to love this show.
  9. Just beat Castlevania Bloodlines from the Genesis on the Castlevania Collection for switch. Never beat it with Eric Lecarde. Always felt sacrilegious to play as anyone that didn’t utilize the vampire killer whip. Plus you get to do shenanigans like this where it looks like he is probing the statues asshole with his spear ;). C: 12 H: 3 PC: 1 O: 16
  10. Quick update. Just beat Castlevania Portrait of Ruin on the Nintendo DS. Moving onto Dawn of Sorrow next. Should have all the Metroidvania titles in the CV line completed by a Halloween at the rate I am going. C: 11 H: 3 PC: 1 O: 15
  11. Gonna try to keep this review as spoiler free as possible. Just finished the show and holy crap was that a fucking roller coaster ride! I enjoyed the hell out of Castlevania Nocturne. This is coming from a diehard fan who has played every single Castlevania game. I have beaten just about every single one of them except maybe Haunted Castle which was an arcade game and I haven't really dabbled with it much. I started playing the series with Castlevania IV like back in 1993 when I was like 7 (I even I have the fucking boxart of SCIV tattooed on my right arm, which needs to be redone but still, it is there). If you have any interest in the CV games or the last TV show, you owe it to yourself to watch it with an open mind. A lot of the negative reviews I keep seeing from users (because the critics on RT have given it a 100% rating which is incredible) are just review bombing it to review bomb it. I actually wonder how many of these morons have actually sat and watched the entire show? I also wonder how many of them aren't racist fucking pricks. I am all about fair criticism and I don't feel the show was perfect but I felt like it was on par with the last series. There are differences but you would expect that, I don't want a copy pasted version of the last series. I liked the changes they made from the video game. It largely uses Rondo of Blood as a base but expands on it greatly and it does take liberties. However, I felt like the liberties they took made sense and were better for the show. It seems the most controversial thing about this TV show is that it has quite a few People of Color in it, one of the characters who had no real character development in Rondo of Blood (Annette) is changed to a black slave girl who escaped the Caribbean with a friend. There is a gay interracial couple who are both men in it and a scene with them butt naked in bed together. People seem to be pissed because it has gone "Woke." I saw this one ludicrous fucking term on RT of people calling it "Wokelavania" and giving it the lowest rating just over that. RT really needs to crack down on the User Reviews when it comes to TV shows like they did when everyone review bombed Captain Marvel over the actress making comments about female representation. Another example within video games that sticks in my mind was over the character Abby in The Last of Us Part II because she was all manly looking and based off a real female body builder. Then there was the whole fact that Ellie is gay and has a girlfriend. I loved the Last of Us Part II and felt the criticism was also very unwarranted. It is just not fair criticism. Annette for those who might be concerned about it is a fucking BOSS ASS BITCH! I mean she is just as powerful as Richter is in a lot of ways (which probably also has people pissed). She gets a lot of screen time but it is needed to flesh out her character background (which people are also pissed off about because one episode largely goes into her being a slave and escaping). We all know Richter's background, Maria and Terra's background aren't that complex (although they do go into it a bit). I felt like the show was so much better with making Annette a black character who has a very tragic background. As far as representation goes? It is a win win in my opinion. We need more representation and diversity in our media and as long as it isn't just being fucking "woke for woke sake" I don't care. They didn't just put a bunch of black and gay characters in there just for no fucking reason. They do serve a purpose to the narrative, they have interesting back stories and characterization. Finally, don't expect it to follow the game down to the last sentence of game dialogue. The last TV show didn't follow the games of CVIII and Curse of Darkness that closely (and they made major changes to Curse of Darkness). To be fair about it, Rondo of Blood did not have much dialogue. I just recently played through Rondo on both the PSP and PS4 (the 3D remake and the original) and there is not a ton to base the show off of. I felt the changes were appropriate and I think there will be some story beats in future seasons that will touch on elements in both Rondo and Symphony. The 1st Season is setting things up and trying to get the characters established which I felt it did a good job of doing. Some are pissed about the writing and pacing. Is it perfect? No but it isn't horrible either. I felt like every episode had a ton of exciting shit going on it. There wasn't a bunch of filler bs with them all wanking off to each other constantly. it was action packed and a lot of damn fun. I give season 1 a 9/10 and fuck the opinions of a bunch of haters who don't like it just because it has black and gay characters in it. It is goddamn 2023, get with the fucking times. There is gonna be diversity within tv shows, games, and movies. As long as it is done well, I don't care.
  12. I just finished the series. I was holding out for a Castlevania Party with a few friends who are TV show diehards (they don't know much about the games) and they can't get their shit together with scheduling. You are like one of the first people I have seen who actually believes the 1st season doesn't have serious pacing and writing issues. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I could care less about people's complaints. I am a fucking diehard Castlevania fan who has played every single game in the series (and I have beaten almost every single one of them too). It has my seal of approval and fuck the rest lol.
  13. Another update. Just finished Castevania: Curse of Darkness last night on the PCSX2 emulator. I own the game and played it off the disc. First time I finally got through this game. It is one of the only a handful of Castlevania games I have never beaten. It is a great game and closest we ever got to a 3D symphony of the night, even if it is not flawless by any means. I just beat Order of Ecclesia for the first time since it was originally released and enjoyed that one a lot. It was the last Castlevania game before everything went to complete shit thanks to Konami being fucking stupid and taking a gigantic bat shit on the series. No, lords of shadow doesn’t count and is a bastardization of the series. I will never accept that shitty God of War clone as apart of the main series. Both these CV games are worth playing and some of the last ones Koji Igarashi ever did before he got sick of Konami’s horseshit. As most may know, he left to do kickstarter and kick serious ass with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (which just surpassed 2 million copies which no Castlevania game has ever done, so take that Konami). I will even go as far as saying Order of Ecclesia is the best Castlevania game since Symphony of the Night. It doesn’t quite reach the highs of that PS1 masterpiece but it is the best Metroidvania since that fabulous game came out in 97. C: 11 H: 2 PC: 1 O: 14
  14. Definitely don’t sell those unless you are really up shit creek without a paddle. I have over 50 and a top loader NES along with a Retro USB AVS FPGA system and that shit is all worth a good chunk of money. I would have to be in a very bad position financially to even consider it lol.
  15. Those are viable options for some people but for the vast majority, it really ain't feasible. Learning Japanese is a real mother fucker unless you are willing to study it for years. I do recommend flash carts and upscalers for most people who just want to play the games and could care less about owning the games physically. This is really just geared toward people who would like to start collecting physical games and not go broke doing it. I started in 2000 at 15 years old and I never really stopped. I have slowed down a lot over the years because of how inflated everything is but I still find deals here and there. Just not quite as often as normal. Hell, today I found a guy who was getting rid of 13 PS2 titles for $40. 2 of the games in there are worth more than $40 and I only got the set he was selling for 3 games anyways. So I am gonna easily make my money back and then some. It is impossible not to bring up emulation when the games are so hyper-inflated nowadays. Many people don’t understand why I even bother with physical media at all and think I am stupid for not embracing emulation like so many other people. So it comes off a lot of the time that I am against emulation when I am not just because I rather physically own my stuff when possible. I am using an emulator right now with the PCSX2 but the difference with me is I am using the physical discs. I am creating my own ISOs off my discs and just throwing them in my PS2 folder on my PC. Yes, I could just go and download the things but I rather not be searching all over shady sites to find ones that work properly and I rather actually own my games. It is just a preference.
