  1. okay and apparently i'm a fucking monster when i play winston i really gave him a go for the first time today and apparently i'm a relentless shit with him
  2. i normally detest customer service because people terrify me, but working at jo ann is pretty fun because the customer base is really old people or cosplayers, so you always meet a lot of interesting people
  3. i think i'm the only person i know of who works in customer service or retail who actually enjoys his job and his interactions with customers which is surprising since most jobs i've held have been in the ghetto
  4. i didn't get fired or quit my job but i did kill somebody the punchline is that i'm a cop
  5. I mean that's sort of my point in saying it hasn't aged well. A big part of that game's success was that it was a decent game in the right place at the right time. Like honestly, when was the last time Nintendo fans at that point had a proper JRPG after the SNES era? It's a decent game that filled a hole that needed to be filled and I feel as a result its pedigree is a bit overstated. It's like so many Nintendo fans loving Tales of Symphonia because it was one of the only new JRPGs to come out during the GCN era and it's fucking generic JRPG trash and always has been
  6. I would disagree with this. Relying on a binary system like "what to hammer and what to jump on" does open up how you deal with enemies, and especially in the first game managing BP is a balancing act because you can't do everything at once because of how limited it is/do you value BP over health and FP? And the partner system can warp how you equip badges tremendously because they can compensate for some of the weaknesses Mario has. You frequently have to change them depending on the area you're in to suit the enemies you're fighting, so there is some fluidity and depth to playing around with it.
  7. I'm critical of it because a well-designed battle system is nothing if it can't be utilized well. If you put that battle system in an RPG that demanded more from the player, it'd probably be considered one of the best. It's like being given the finest weaponry techology has to offer and you have to use it to shoot cans.
  8. Ergonomically I've actually always disliked the original gameboy designs and the GBASP cramped my hands like nobody's business. If the original GBA's screen wasn't darker than Robert Mugabe on a coke binge on the surface of the sun, I'd prefer it by a long shot. The clamshell is fucking ingenious though. DS/3DS combined the comfortable shape and the clamshell of the GBASP perfectly.
  9. I replayed GS and TLA recently. They've aged like milk, honestly. Impressive scope for the hardware, great presentation and a nostalgic trip to SNES-era RPGs. Mediocre as Hell otherwise. Such a shame that complex customization in the Djinn system was mostly pointless because the combat never goes beyond "summon rush/use strongest spells with the IV drip of healing items".
  10. okay i'm like legit curious tho how far do you get in before you had to quit each time an hour two hours like two hours without a save point sounds like dildos
  11. I'm not going to start up a MGS game an hour before work because I know at some point I'm going to have to wade through 15 minutes of cutscenes before I even get a chance to pause and quit. I'm not going to go "let's sit down and play an RPG a bit before work". I'm not going to start a story-driven game if I should be expected to stop in next half-hour or hour. I used League as an example because it's a game that drove the point home that I should consider more often that I shouldn't start playing something that demands my investment before I have other obligations to go fulfill. Don't get snarky with me because your rushed ass still couldn't assess after three playthroughs how much crunchtime you'd need to finish a portion of a game.
  12. Why the Hell would you start something new in a game if you're getting ready to leave? If League of Legends taught me anything other than my body is comprised 90% of salt, it's that I have a good grasp of how much time the game expects from me to be playing without interruption. I'm not going to start a League game when I have to get ready for work in 15 minutes. I'm not going to start a story arc in an RPG and go "oh i'll have this shit on lock, i could probably reach a savepoint in like 10 minutes" when I have no idea how long the game is.
  13. Ironically enough I'm pretty garbage at Pharah despite being a soldier main, because I haven't worked out the instinct of hurting people with splash rather than direct hits. I don't know who my best character is because I'm bad at this game and I can do a variety of jobs both effectively and poorly. Reaper or D.va are probably it, and while I don't use them a lot, my Roadhog and Junkrat are decent. Probably be using Roadhog more now that I got the Junkenstein's monster skin and he's basically Reaper with twice as much health.
  14. A save system shouldn't have to account for how shitty the developers test their games for bugs. Quick-save in games I feel should function like EO or FE, where it deletes it when you come back to play. Otherwise I feel like quicksaving is far too exploitative in a lot of cases.
  15. Couldn't? Also I find statements about that silly considering some of the best Zelda games to come out in the past decade or so are heavily inspired games that have been on par or arguably better than Zelda itself. Like Okami or Darksiders.
  16. I think that liberty should be granted with handheld games because the nature of those dictates that you play for 5 to 15 minutes in the breakroom at work or on the bus and might need to do something else soon after. With console games (especially RPG and adventure games) you're kind of expected to sit down and invest a more significant portion of your time. But granted that, levels are like an hour or so tops in Color Splash, what the Hell is wrong with your Wii U that it's eating shit in the middle of you fucking playing? Though you can also make the argument that save points in general are a bit archaic with so many games having autosave, whether or not you want it to or not.
  17. I'm fully aware, my point in Naut is that I feel like his laning phase is weak as Hell compared to a lot of the other tanks in the meta. He can't trade that well because his trading tools have high cooldowns/mana costs, and he has poor sustain/innate tankiness without items. I mean once he has one or two items he's fine, but getting there without being shit on in lane or being down a lot of CS is difficult. I mean the upside is that yeah, he scales crazy hard with his shield and his ult now stuns all targets for the full duration. And in general Naut's always been a fantastic peeler and initiator, but I just feel tanks like Maokai, Shen, off-tanks like Gnar are just better atm.
  18. I honestly go Triforce if I want to snowball a lane or I go Black Cleaver if I want to be useful in teamfights since his minions will apply the armor shred and speed buff. I actually prefer going three or four damage items with GA because his strength comes from splitpushing and you want him to be a threat you can't deal with without the enemy team sending one or two champions at any given time. Going glass cannon is obvious a liability in teamfighting but it makes dueling him a pain in the ass. I play champs that are good peelers and initiators. I used to be a Nautilus main but I feel like he sort of ate shit in lane after his changes and the meta shifts despite scaling so well into lategame and tanks being popular right now.
  19. Your build tilts me but if it's working for you then more power to you. My Poppy's been on fucking point during my climb into Gold.
  20. Good, because the game is actually pretty fantastic
  21. i don't know if i want to to get into A rank in squid game, work on climbing into gold in leggo legend, work on wizard magic man in dank memes 3
