  1. Super Paper Mario is an enigma of baffling design because it's a platformer that weirdly feels kinda bad to play as a fucking 2D Mario game.
  2. I think my big problem with TTYD is that on repeat playthroughs the linearity and scale of the game become really noticeable. Still a marvelous little game, but the game is reliant on setpieces to hide the fact that the levels are small-ish corridors with a ton of backtracking. TOK manages to be better than both PM's scale and TTYD's clever writing and setpieces, it's really only the combat system holding it back but "holding it back" is a pretty hyperbolic term because the combat's still a lot of fun.
  3. original paper mario? it was only like 19 hours long TTYD i just started but elden ring and v rising are interfering
  4. paper mario is still a good game a lot shorter than i remember it onwards to TTYD so i can make my OBJECTIVE rankings tier list of all the paper mario games TOK>TTYD>PM=SPM>CS>>>>>>>pulling teeth>>>>>>SS
  5. Runs like a champ. Almost no differences with Paper Mario running on the Switch. The only real hitches I've had are limited with Dolphin emulation, which has some weird pop-in texture glitches when I test-ran TTYD, but otherwise Emu Deck's steam integration makes things braindead easy to run.
  6. only the most high-end games i'm playing on my steam deck
  7. random life updates: -elden ring gud -flights to the midwest are fucking expensive in july -i'm writing a book and it's almost finished -HRT starts next week so now i'll become hot
  8. i hate new meds life is a cavalcade of dark pain i got caramel life update done
  9. I'm very fortunate that it was this Annie and not the Annie I was thinking of, otherwise I was ready to call the cops.
  10. starting new meds on the day you get your booster is ill-advised
  11. it's basically ARAM for halo and it's everything i need in my life right now it's also probably the best way to get accustomed to all the weapons in the game and find out how they work and why to discard the ravager immediately because it's garbage
  12. Halo Infinite is very good, I would strongly recommend giving it a look. It's F2P and the microtransaction bollocks is strictly for cosmetics.
  13. I've never really been a Halo person--the last game I played was Reach back in 2010 and the last one I played extensively was Halo 3--but I'm kind of gobsmacked at how much I've been enjoying Halo Infinite. As somebody who detests Battle Royales and has grown extremely tired of Hero/Class-based shooters, Infinite definitely feels like it's in the right place at the right time, where a lot of its really classic design choices feel unique. It also makes me realize how much I just don't gel with the busyness of a lot of modern shooters and how procedurally-generated and emergent gameplay seems to have become the norm to the point that it just feels a bit stale to me. There's a tightness and visual clarity to Infinite that makes it feel very accessible. This feels very much like the multiplayer experience I've needed again in my life.
  14. i'm sure looking forward to it i haven't even started shadowbringers despite finishing stormblood in quarantine nearly two years ago
  15. I don't think I'll get the DP remakes. Not because I think they're bad or anything--it's arguably my favorite gen and playing through them again seems fun--there's just too much on my plate between League preseason, FFXIV prep, Halo Infinite, and choosing between spending 60 bones on a game I already have or on Mario Party Superstars or 30 on Ruined King. Too much shit to play in the next few months and I don't have the Pokemon bug atm. The 3D Pokemon games have been fine, I think it's more systemic of the franchise in general. Pokemon is a franchise stuck in a terrible place where older fans demand to be appeased to constantly and demand access to all the legacy content, but get upset that the series can't really evolve (HA) or move forward as a result either, and then people bitch about the games being stale. New features are half-commitments or gone by every new generation so it cycles through ideas that never have a chance to develop or be built around. As a clown whose entire online persona is named after the franchise, I think the Pokemon fanbase is second maybe to only Blizzard or League in terms of spoiled or toxic entitlement of what to expect from the series. I've done my best do distance myself, they're fucking lunatics.
  16. There really isn't a bad Metroid game in the series barring Other M, to be completely honest. Metroid 2 hasn't aged well but it's super impressive what it does on the GB and it has a sort of forboding ambiance that hasn't really been captured elsewhere in the series, both remakes included. Fusion is fantastic and I think people get upset at it being more "linear" when they forget how obtuse Super Metroid is to new players to the point of being detrimental. Other M is terrible and I'm upset that Metroid Dread as made some of the apologists for that mediocre action game draped in atrocious character assassination come out of the woodworks again. Also it goes without saying, but Metroid Dread is pretty fucking great and even in subsequent playthroughs my brain is having trouble recognizing that it actually exists.
  17. I personally never had a problem with the original Doom in that regard, but also I feel like a lot of people are coddled by maps or extremely linear level design because I'm a boomer.
  18. got day drunk, dissociated and imagined a 3d kirby game, an actraiser remake and charlie day as luigi in some surrealist fever nightmare i'm glad none of that actually happened because it would signify the simulation falling apart
  19. i could never stop finding videos and clips that make me lose my shit at them
  20. absolutely heartbroken over norm macdonald's passing legit one of the funniest people in existence
  21. the word "like" is doing a lot of heavy lifting i hate both of them but at least jesus is king doesn't waste my time for 108 minutes, and it's made from the remnants of yandhi so there's some flashes of good production or beats in there, it's at least bad in an interesting and corny way whereas with donda i'm bored for most of it it is one of the best things both cudi and kanye have put out in the past decade, which is wild considering i think both of them have been in slumps up until that point it almost feels wild that it even exists, it just shows up and torches the fields for 24 minutes and then is gone
  22. i relistened to some stuff from donda and i still think it's bar none his worst album but there are few songs on it i'm okay with it mostly made me just revisit everything else kids see ghosts sure ripped ass
