  1. The NAFA released the results of the 2022 NWC fan vote Tuesday morning. They did did so in waves, eliminating 5 nations, then 2 more, until the 3 finalists were revealed to be Japan, Korea, and China. In the end, the 2022 NWC host was, with 34% of the total vote, Japan. Korea came 2nd with 25%, China third with 19%. Australia was the only other nation above 10%, finishing with 12%. Green Hill Zone will look to defend their title at Nintendo World Cup Japan 2022. Many cities within the country are preparing to bid to host matches already. It would appear that Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, and Osaka are locks to be selected. Beyond that, it’s more of a guessing game. It’s expected that Sapporo, Niigata, Sendai, Chiba, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Kobe, Okayama, Hiroshima, Kitakyushu, and Nagasaki will all put in bids to host matches.
  2. Nintendo World Cup 2020 Final - National TV Gamecast Sarasaland 3-1 Johto - Stade Amidou Ahdijo - Yaounde - Daisy 23’, 28’, Entei 49’, Waluigi 75’ Koholint 0-2 Green Hill Zone - Paul Biya Stadium - Yaounde - Sonic 45’, 90’ 9:45pm - the matches kick off 8’ - it’s been a cagey start in both matches. Shadow lets fly from 25 yards but fails to hit the target 10’ - Marin takes a speculative shot from outside the area. It one bounces to Eggman, who corrals it 17’ - Koholint’s being in this final tonight after having never qualified for an NWC previously is rather remarkable. They are huge underdogs on paper, any scenario for them to win probably requires an early goal. Dethl tries his luck but misses the target 23’ - Across town, Sarasaland have the first goal at the Ahdijo. Daisy wins a free kick just outside the area, and takes it herself. She loops one over the wall and back down and in for 1-0. She gives a quick African dance by the corner flag in celebration 28’ - Didn’t take long, only 5 minutes after scoring Sarasaland double their lead. After a giveaway by Faulkner, Daisy gets the pass from Tokotoko and deposits the ball into the net, her 2nd of the match 30’ - Green Hill Zone finally getting going towards goal. A 10 pass sequence ends up with Silver taking the shot but it’s blocked by Tarin. Eventually Tails corrals it and shoots, but Master Stalfos has it covered 35’ - Yellow card for Bow-Wow, who takes out Knuckles as he looked to turn and run through the midfield 38’ - Johto nearly pull one back as Whitney gets inside the defense and pulls the trigger from just inside the area. Tatanga dives and makes a great diving stop. The corner afterward is cleared by Hoiyohoi 45’ - Right on the stroke of halftime Green Hill Zone takes the lead. A pass is picked off by Amy Rose, who plays a fantastic pass up to Sonic, who is through on goal. Master Stalfos comes out but Sonic chips him for 1-0. 49’ - Johto pulls one back! A corner kick is won by Whitney on the left. Jasmine takes the corner and Entei gets up highest to head the ball past Tatanga. It’s game on for 3rd place. 53’ - Richard has been quiet tonight but he gets loose for the first time and is able to fire from 24 yards. Eggman gets a good read on it and punches it away. If Koholint can score this game could change completely 57’ - yellow card for Tails, who loses the ball and then lunges in on Marin trying to get it back. Poor decision there by the kitsune. 62’ - Master Stalfos makes an incredible save against Shadow from point blank range to keep the game close. Shadow had gotten the pass from Blaze near the penalty spot. He slams his fist into the turf in disgust 66’ - yellow card for Shadow, who got nudged off by Tarin as he entered the area. He wanted a penalty but was booked for diving instead. The hedgehog is furious. GHZ’s manager sees this and decides to sub him off the pitch 70’ - Now it’s Koholint nearly scoring, as Grim Creaper gets around the defense and gets a shot off from inside the D. Eggman leaps and makes a great save to keep it out. 75’ - Sarasaland restore the two goal lead as Daisy takes a pass and cuts down toward the end line before nutmegging the defender and getting into the 18. She then crosses to Waluigi who heads it home at the back post for 3-1 79’ - Oh boy, big drama with the NWC on the line. Marin takes a throughball from Richard and he’s through on goal. As he’s about to decide whether to shoot or round the keeper, Blaze grabs her and basically does an American football tackle on her. Blaze is red carded and kicked out. The free kick is taken by Marin and it hits off the crossbar. So close, but Koholint has the man advantage now 84’ - Green Hill Zone has all 10 players behind the ball now. Koholint doing whatever they can to find an equalizer. 87’ - Marin fires from 20 yards. Eggman makes another save, the ball caroms off two defenders and over to Dethl, who shoots but the shot is blocked by Knuckles out for a corner. The corner is corralled by Eggman 88’ - Eggman is carded after holding onto the ball for way too long 90’ - Throwing almost everyone forward, Koholint presses so hard for the tying goal but in doing so left themselves open for a counterattack, and it’s Dethl’s pass that’s intercepted by Knuckles. He fires it to Amy Rose who starts a 4 on 2 counterattack...it ultimately ends up with Sonic finishing the ball into the lower left corner. That’s going to do it, first world champions in baseball, and now world champions in soccer. It’s officially a Sonic Summer. 11:20pm - full time
  3. Nintendo World Cup 2020 Semifinals - National TV Gamecast Johto 2-4 Green Hill Zone - Stade de la Reunificacion - Douala - Blaze 13’, Morty 35’, Sonic 45’, Meganium 57’, Amy Rose 81’, Silver 88’ Sarasaland 2-2 Koholint - Sululere National Stadium - Lagos - Waluigi 26’, Richard 54’, Marin 65’(pen), Hoiyohoi 78’ 9:45pm Est - The matches kick off! 4’ - Early warning shot for Koholint as Daisy tries her luck from 25 yards. It whizzes left of the near post. 6’ - Yellow card for Martha, who upends Daisy as she attempts to get out on the breakaway. Definitely intentional but maybe the right move as Sarasaland would’ve had a 4v3 counter 8’ - Raikou picks up a yellow card for a rash challenge against Shadow. The black hedgehog is down and needs treatment before continuing. The electric dog might be lucky to stay on the pitch there. VAR checks the play but does not overturn the referee decision 13’ - First goal of the night and it comes in Douala. Silver makes a great pass to free up Sonic on the right, and he crosses it to Blaze who buries it at the back post for 1-0 15’ - Yellow card for Tokotoko, who fouls Richard as he tries to escape down the left. 19’ - Grim Creaper gets free and fires from just outside the box. Tatanga makes a brilliant save to tip the ball onto the crossbar. Dethl eventually collects the rebound but his effort is blocked by the defender and cleared 24’ - yellow card for Shadow, who aggressively slide tackles Faulkner to prevent a counterattack. Ugly challenge that. Both Johto and GHZ are playing very physically tonight, if this continues we might see a player or two kicked out at some point 26’ - Sarasaland win a corner down the left. Daisy takes it, and the ball comes to Waluigi, who has a free header from 7 yards out and he doesn’t miss from there. 1-0 Sarasaland. 35’ - Johto is on the scoreboard. Typhlosion makes a brilliant run down the left and cuts in along the endline and finds Morty, who has an easy tap in for 1-1 40’ - Tarin picks up a yellow card for a foul against Wario. Wario gets into Tarin’s face afterward as he felt the challenge was dangerous from behind. The referee ultimately cards Wario as well for some colorful language. 45’ - Green Hill Zone grab the lead again just before halftime as Tails wins a free kick just outside the area. Sonic steps up and drills the kick over the wall and in. Brilliant. 2-1 48’ - Sarasaland and Koholint both look more lively coming out of the dressing room. Both teams had great chances to score in the first two minutes of the half. Sarasaland hasn’t been scored on in the last 135 minutes of play. If they maintain that they’ll be onto the final 54’ - Koholint has tied the match in Lagos. Marin finds Richard inside the area, who quick turns and beats Tatanga with a hot grounder into the bottom right for 1-1 57’ - Johto refuses to give up. Whitney is able to win a corner down the left. She takes the corner and Meganium gets up and nails it past Eggman for 2-2 61’ - yellow card for Knuckles now...he slide tackles Clair who immediately gets up and pushes the Echidna. They get into a headfirst shouting match and Clair is yellow carded as well. 65’ - well this game has now turned around completely! Marin beats two Sarasaland defenders before getting brought down in the area by Dragonzamasu. He’s booked for that and a penalty is given. Marin gets Tatanga to go the wrong way and she buries it. 2-1 to Koholint. 69’ - Bad turn of events for Johto as Raikou brings down Amy Rose following a giveaway by Entei. The electric dog sees yellow for the second time, which means a red card and ejection. Johto down to 10 players 73’ - Didn’t take long for GHZ to take advantage of the man advantage as Sonic passes to Tails in the area and he is fouled rashly by Faulkner. He’s given a straight red card, and now Johto is down to 9 players! Amazingly though, it’s still tied as Feraligatr saves Tails’s penalty kick. How is Johto going to survive playing 9v11 though? 76’ - Sarasaland battles back and finds an equalizer. Daisy makes a run down the left and passes to Totomesu who got forward on the overlap. His shot is saved but the ball is recycled to Wario, who puts in a great ball for Hoiyohoi to head in at the back post. 2-2 81’ - Green Hill Zone scoring with a 2-man advantage seemed inevitable and it does happen. Amy Rose applies the finishing touch after Silver’s pass finds her at the back post. 3-2 85’ - Sarasaland nearly go in front as Wario gets away and fires from 20 yards, but his shot caroms off the post. Near escape for Koholint. 88’ - Silver scores on a strike from near the penalty spot. That’s ballgame. Green Hill Zone is headed to the World Cup Final 11:15pm - End of regulation time. Green Hill Zone are in the final for the 2nd World Cup running. Will it be a rematch of the 2018 final, or will Koholint crash the festivities? Extra time coming 102’ - Koholint nearly has a breakaway. Richard plays a near perfect pass to Dethl. Dragonzamasu is the only defender close by and he fouls him. The referee gives a second yellow and thus a red. Dragonzamasu is ejected. The free kick is close from Marin but goes wide right. 109’ - Sarasaland have put pretty much everybody behind the ball now as they try to get the match to penalties. Koholint try to find a winner and they get a decent effort from Dethl that swerves toward the bottom corner but there’s not enough juice on it and Tatanga saves 111’ - Daisy is yellow carded for time wasting 113’ - Now it’s Richard that tries his luck, but his shot flies just slightly over the bar from 25 yards. 115’ - Totomesu is yellow carded for time wasting 11:45pm - try as they might, Koholint wasn’t able to find a goal in the 18 minutes with the man advantage, as Sarasaland sees out extra time and makes it to penalties. guys, I’m going to need your 5 choices for penalty kick takers Penalty shootout: Daisy - ✅ Dethl - ✅ Wario - ✅ Richard - ✅ Waluigi - ❌ Shopkeeper - ❌ Totomesu - ✅ Grim Creaper - ✅ Tatanga - ❌ Marin - ✅ Koholint win 4-3 on penalties, advance to NWC Final vs Green Hill Zone
  4. The NAFA announced this morning that the 2021 Confederations Cup will be played in New Zealand. The rugby mad nation is one that has been an improving one in soccer in recent years, punctuated by an unbeaten run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The All Whites very narrowly failed to qualify for Russia 2018, losing to Peru 2-0 in their international last chance play-off. The women’s team, the Football Ferns, are a regular fixture, having qualified for each of the last 4 World Cups. Auckland, Wellington, Dundedin, and Christchurch were named as host cities, but up to 4 more could be added before the tournament next summer (which will actually be held during winter in NZ). Master Hand also announced that while the 2022 World Cup won’t be played in Qatar, it will be played somewhere within the Asian Football Confederation, which after Confederations Cup New Zealand 2021, will be the only continental group to have never hosted a NAFA tournament. For the first time ever, the NAFA is going to decide the host by fan vote. Starting now and going through the conclusion of the World Cup Final on Sunday, fans will be able to vote for one of 10 options. The choices are: Japan 🇯🇵 South Korea 🇰🇷 China 🇨🇳 Australia 🇦🇺 Indonesia 🇮🇩 Vietnam 🇻🇳 Thailand 🇹🇭 India 🇮🇳 Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 The country with the most votes will be named NWC 2022 host
  5. Nintendo World Cup 2020 Quarterfinals - National TV Gamecast Sarasaland 3-0 Earthdbz - Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja - Wario 35', Dragonzamasu 45', Daisy 65' Koholint 2-1 Tellius - Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo - Richard 10', Elincia 67'(pen), Marin 89' Johto 2-2 Shield - Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua - Whitney - 12', T'Challa 18', Gomorrah 57', Suicine 85' Green Hill Zone 5-3 Kanto - Kouekong Stadium, Bafoussam - Silver 8', Mewtwo 15', Tails 20', Sonic 41', Gary Oak 61', Pikachu 70'(pen), Knuckles 82', Shadow 90'+3 11pm - The matches kick off! 8' - Green Hill Zone has a scarred history of making it far only to get beat...the biggest scar of all being the 2018 final where they lost to Sarasaland. They're a step closer to redemption as Silver hits a bullet from 25 yards past Mr Mime for 1-0 10' - Early goal in Uyo as Richard hits a ripper of his own from nearly 30 yards out and knocks it in off the bottom of the crossbar. What a strike that is. 1-0 to Koholint. 12' - Maybe the fans' return is inspiring the players, as we are seeing some golazos early on! This one comes from Whitney, who rounds the ball around Black Widow before firing a cannon shot from 25 yards into the top right corner. No chance for Hulk to save that. 1-0 to Johto 15' - It didn't take Kanto long to come back with an equalizer. They won a corner down the right, and Ash's corner kick is headed home by Mewtwo. Set pieces have killed Green Hill Zone in the past due to the fact that they are one of the shorter teams in terms of height, and Kanto definitely is using that to their advantage. 18' - Shield now come back with an equalizer. A brilliant pass from the midfield from Captain America finds T'Challa, who timed his run perfectly and ends up 1v1 with Blissey, and the man from Wakanda beats her for 1-1. 20' - Green Hill Zone score a second within 20 minutes. This time its Blaze who plays a great ball to release Shadow down the left, he cuts inbetween two defenders and shoots. Mime makes a great initial save but Tails is right place right time to knock home the rebound for 2-1. 35' - We went a while without a goal in Abuja, but when it came it was a delightful team goal from the defending world champions. The ball touched Tokotoko, Dragonzamasu, Totomesu, Waluigi, Daisy, and then Wario before he hit a low shot into the bottom left past Majim Buu to put Sarasaland ahead 1-0. 41' - Green Hill Zone are now 3-1 up. Tails makes a ridiculous run from nearly the midfield circle following a giveaway by Brock, and he forces Mime to come before tapping across to Sonic who buries it into the empty net. Team hedgehog is rolling in Bafoussam. 45' - Right on the stroke of halftime Sarasaland double their advantage! Daisy wins a corner kick down the left, then takes the corner and Dragonzamasu rises highest to head it home to make it 2-0. 57 ' - We went a while after halftime without any scoring, but Shield has taken the lead from behind. Black Widow feeds Iron Man, who taps backward to Scarlet Witch, whose shot caroms unluckily off the post but Gomorrah gets to it before any Johto defender can clear and her effort finds the net for 2-1. 61' - Kanto isn't giving up yet. Gary freakin Oak tries an audacious effort from just inside 30 yards and it flies in off the right post. Eggman didn't even move for it, then puts up his hands as if to say "well what did you want me to do about that?" Oak kicks out the corner flag in celebration, which predictably earns him a card. 65' - It really looks as though the world champs are home free now. Totomesu beats two Earthdbz defenders down the right, and crosses for Daisy, who's unmarked just outside the penalty spot. I mean really...you're going to leave the best player on the best team unmarked from 12 yards? Swish. 3-0. 67' - Tellius has tied up the game with Koholint! Ike holds up the ball about 35 yards out and finds Elincia, who strides into the penalty area but is brought down by Tarin, who is yellow carded for his transgression but more importantly a penalty is given. Elincia steps up against Master Stalfos and gets him to go the wrong way. 1-1. 70' - Just like that, another penalty is given! On a Kanto corner kick, Pikachu tries to go agility to head the ball in but he is held down harshly by Knuckles and the referee points to the spot, and gives Knuckles a yellow card as well. Pikachu does something incredible on his penalty, charging up his toward-B diving headbutt but stopping short of the ball, fooling Eggman who dove before Pikachu calmly kicked the ball into the opposite side of the net. Eggman is furious and complains that it must be retaken but VAR shows Pikachu never completely stopped his forward momentum. The goal stands and its all tied in Bafoussam! 73' - Well now this could be big...Jasmine found Morty who fired a throughball to Typhlosion, who looked to be through on goal but he was brought down from behind just outside the area by Jessica Jones. She's red carded and ejected. The resultant free kick is over the bar but Johto is now up a player the rest of the way. 76' - And now another red card comes out on a very similar play. Amy Rose releases Sonic as Green Hill Zone hits Kanto on the counterattack, and Brock decides to slide tackle Sonic harshly just outside the area. Sonic is furious and nearly squares up to fight Brock but thinks better of it. The rock type gym leader is red carded and Kanto is down to 10. The free kick is saved by Mime. 82' - Green Hill Zone takes advantage of the man advantage. After nearly 5 straight minutes of possession, Blaze boots a useful ball into the mixer and Shadow flicks in on to the back post where Knuckles slides in and applies the finishing touch. 4-3 to GHZ 85' - And the man advantage now pays off for Johto, who win a corner down the left. Faulkner takes the corner and it's Suicine that beats the defender to it and knocks it home to tie the match at 2-2 89' - Oh this is incredible! Dethl, who's scored several late goals for Koholint in this tournament, makes a good run and breaks away as the defender mistimes his challenge. The keeper is forced to come way out of the box and ends up fouling Dethl as he tries to get the shot away. With the referee playing the advantage, Grim Creaper pounces on the ball, passes it to Richard, who hits a looping cross to the back post to Marin, who puts it home! 2-1 Koholint with just a few minutes left! 90'+3 - Kanto win a corner with under two minutes left, and they decide to throw all 11 players forward including the keeper. The corner is taken by Ash, but Eggman comes all the way out of the six yard box to punch the ball clear, and its a sprint down the field as Silver booms it forward to Sonic, who then finds Shadow, who hits a shot from 55 yards that hits the empty net to clinch victory for Green Hill Zone. 12:30am - End of regulation time. Sarasaland, Koholint, and Green Hill Zone win and go through to the semifinals. Johto and Shield now going to extra time. 120’ - with no goals in extra time, Johto and Shield go to penalties in Garoua. Which keeper, Hulk or Feraligatr can keep more shots out and send their side to a semifinal date with Green Hill Zone? Whitney - ✅ T’Challa - ✅ Faulkner - ❌ Captain America - ✅ Raikou - ✅ Thor - ✅ Typhlosion - ✅ Iron Man - ❌ Clair - ✅ Captain Marvel - ✅ Jasmine - ✅ Black Widow - ✅ Morty - ✅ Gomorrah - ✅ Meganium - ✅ Star Lord - ❌ Johto win 7-6 on penalties
  6. Following a day of heated discussion, the NAFA and the national federations have allowed reduced seating into the stadiums for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All fans who receive tickets and attend must follow strict mask wearing and distancing guidelines, traveling in groups of no greater than 4, and sitting in the specified seats in checkerboard formation in designated areas. All people entering will be subject to temperature checks as well. The concession and merchandise stands will be open, but all items will be purchased from outside glass encased zones and fed through the glass after electronic payment is rendered. Maximum stadium capacity for these games has been set at 20k for the stadiums in Abuja, Lagos, Douala, and Yaounde, and 15k for the other venues which have smaller overall capacity to start with. Allotment of tickets will be 25% to each of the competing teams and 50% to local fans. These guidelines are essentially the same guidelines that the teams themselves have been subjected to at their training facilities throughout the tournament.
  7. There have been quite a few important meetings today between representatives of FIFA, NAFA, the WHO, NFF, FECAFUT, and the heads of the 8 federations representing the remaining teams in the tournament. The situation has gotten so tense that the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, and her Cameroonian counterpart Chantal Biya, both made statements to the media today expressing sympathy for those who had been excluded from stadiums during matches. But Buhari and Biya also stressed that re-entry for fans must be done in a way that doesn’t risk any of the region’s major cities becoming a coronavirus hotspot. Said Buhari, “Lagos is a metropolis of nearly 16 million people. You get a few cases into the wrong people or mix them into the general public, and that can multiply very quickly.” Biya added, “our immigration authorities and military personnel have done their part to make sure people follow the rules and stay protected. If not done properly, opening the stadiums could cause people to gather irresponsibly without safeguards and cause an unsafe situation. Our sporting ministry is taking the advice of the WHO and our civil authorities and will decide how best to proceed.” The expectation right now is that the NAFA, FECAFUT, and NFF will make a joint press conference tomorrow. The quarterfinal matches are scheduled to take place in Garoua, Bafoussam, Uyo, and Abuja tomorrow. Semifinals will take place in Lagos and Douala Saturday, with the 3rd place match and final to take place in Yaounde Sunday night. The 3rd place contest will take place at the venerable Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, while the final will take place at the newly constructed Paul Biya Stadium. Update - and how’s this? Master Hand was asked if fans will be allowed into the stadiums tomorrow. He said he didn’t know, but he does have reputable sources that say that the NAFA will quote, “absolutely not” be playing either the 2021 confederations cup or the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. When asked why, Master Hand said that the NAFA will never host an event in a country the puts such a low value on human life, and moreover, that hosting the tournament there makes no economic sense because Nintendo doesn’t sell dick for products in Qatar. This could potentially put the NAFA at odds with their human world counterpart, FIFA. We’ll see if anything more substantive comes out on that in the next few days or weeks.
  8. Following the lawsuits filed by the FAs of Sarasaland, Johto, Kanto, Green Hill Zone, Earthdbz, Koholint, Tellius, and Shield, the NAFA has postponed the quarterfinal round of the Nintendo World Cup until at least Friday. NAFA officials as well as NFF and FECAFUT, the national federations of Nigeria and Cameroon have reached out to FIFA for guidance. FIFA in turn has reached out to the WHO and the CAS (court of arbitration for sport) for guidance as to whether the partial reopening of certain host sites in the two countries is doable. It’s worth noting that neither Nigeria nor Cameroon was too heavily impacted by coronavirus compared to most of the industrialized world. Nigeria has recorded around 42k total cases and 900 deaths, Cameroon even less with 17k cases and 400 deaths. Only about 2500 active cases are currently within the two nations. Given these numbers, this joint lawsuit might well succeed in some form
  9. You’ve done a great job up to this point. Knockout round bracket wasn’t exactly as FIFA would’ve done it but you’ve based everything on goal difference dating back to the regular season, so it worked very well. I’ll take care of the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final from here. Sucks that we have no fans in attendance at these matches. Cameroon and Nigeria have done an admirable job hosting this event in a condensed and socially distant fashion. Come to think of it, the matches coming quickly one after another in NWC 2020 is actually very similar to how the European leagues have concluded their seasons this year, playing 2/3 times a week instead of once like normal. Sarasaland could end up the first team to repeat as NWC champion. Kanto also has a chance to be the first team to win the title for the 2nd time. All 6 of the other teams would win their first world title should they triumph. Some of the remaining teams are on Cinderella type runs...I don’t think Koholint has ever won the Zelda league title. I think the other teams have, though Tellius hasn’t won the Fire Emblem/Military league title in some years.
  10. Well...we definitely turned the stamina off for the 2020 Nintendo World Cup. 4 games on consecutive days, and it’ll be 7 for the teams playing in the final. Geez. These guys and girls are going to need a vacation after this.
  11. Video Game World Baseball Classic Finals Game 2: Sonic Heroes 2 Raccoon City Warriors 4 Series tied 1-1 The Heroes held the lead before the 5th inning thanks to a Knuckles home run, but Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Chris Redfield all drove in runs to make it a 3-1 lead there, and then Jill Valentine continued her incredible VGWBC run with a solo HR to left in the 6th. Sonic scored on a sac fly in the 7th, but the Heroes didn’t have enough offense on this night. It’ll be one game for all the marbles tomorrow
  12. Video Game World Baseball Classic Semifinals Game 3 national tv gamecast Sonic Heroes 7-2 Koholint Dreamers - Halo Field, UNSC 1st inning - Koholint is out of the gates early as Grim Creaper hits a solo home run to make it a 1-0 advantage 2nd inning - The Heroes Fire back immediately as Amy Rose singles in both Knuckles and Blaze to make it a 2-1 lead. Both teams are throwing their top pitchers, Eggman and Marin in this game, but both are pitching on 3 days rest which could be difficult. Whoever has more stamina and poise under pressure will have the advantage 3rd inning - no runs in the 3rd as Marin strikes out the side and Eggman fans 2 of 3 4th inning - Its another solo HR for the Dreamers, this one coming courtesy of Dark Link, to tie the match at 2-all 5th inning - Not much going on here. Heroes managed to put 2 runners on but Marin was able to work out of the jam 6th inning - Both starting pitchers are relieved with runners on base but the respective bullpens do the job and the game stays knotted at 2 7th inning - The Heroes knocked on the door the last 2 innings and this time they kicked it down. Silver and Sonic single in runs before Shadow comes up and cranks a 3-run home run to left center to blow the game wide open, its now 7-2 Heroes 8th - much like Sarasaland last night, Koholint look dazed, confused, and lifeless. It was 3 up 3 down in the 8th and barring a miracle, this one’s over 9th inning - And that is that. This was a tight one only the Heroes dropped a whole bunch of nightmares on the Dreamers in the 7th. For those who thought it would be a Link vs Fuzzer final, well...too bad, as both managers are out. It’ll be the Heroes against the Warriors for the world championship...the Heroes will look to avenge their NWS loss to Sarasaland while the Warriors will look to follow in the footsteps of Gotham City Penguins and be the 2nd Sony club to win the VGWBC
  13. Well...that was a twist even I didn’t see coming. Damn. Game 3 of Heroes-Dreamers coming up on NSN next
  14. Raccoon City is flying the flag for the Sony League at this point, and actually, for the entirety of the non-Nintendo clubs...so you'd figure that would be motivation enough. Still though...shutting out the Coins in a VGWBC semifinal match? That's pretty damn impressive. Feel bad for whomever pitched for the Coins (wasn't Maxwell or Daisy).
  15. And now for another former NBL reunion against the Warriors. You know how in some Zelda games Link ends up fighting the prior bosses a second time before the final battle? That’s what it seems like the Coins are going through right now. If I remember my LoZ history correctly, one of the first places he had to do this was Koholint...and the Dreamers could be waiting in the VGWBC Finals. Wouldn’t that be ironically appropriate?
