  1. The "back to top" button is back, along with several Kong emotes.
  2. Quoting on mobile is so bad. I'm so sorry for anyone else that knows this pain. I apologise for what this editor is. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemies. Mentions on mobile are bunk too. But at least @CCH made it single-spaced by default. Now watch as that mention again doesn't work.
  3. I vote yes. But I can see why others would vote yes instead, and I have to say, I fully agree with them.
  4. Probably. And yes. I never realised how great that little button was either until I had to start heavily using mobile again. That's a quick and easy little feature to add, so expect it in a couple of hours along with the Kong emoticons.
  5. I have the Kong files downloaded and ready to upload for use. They'll either be restored when I get home, or earlier if one of the other admins beats me to it.
  6. I hear you there. It's not bad on mobile in my opinion, but it's pretty bad on desktop. I added some "badges" to help unread threads stick out a bit more, but it still blends in with everything else. @CCH is designing/improving skins. Might be able to look into this too while continuing to make everything else look great. I'm not a designer, so a lot of what I'd come up with would probably look out of place haha.
  7. Yep, your WiFi network and your mobile data would have completely separate IP addresses. That sort of behaviour would be expected from an IP ban.
  8. That sounds like an IP ban. Could be either intended, or a consequence of CrowdGather using wildcards when banning IPs.
  9. Try this: [url=http://ninfora.com/forums/index.php?/topic/48-eh_steves-zelda-collection-dec-3115-updated/][img=http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee424/ehsteve12/zeldasig2ap8pi1_zpsa6ff2ccd.png][/url] Should come out like this:
  10. There were quite a few people trying to get the word out, but everything was being monitored quite closely! It sounds like people's PMs were even being read, which resulted in some folks getting banned by CG without doing anything else on the forums. Heck, people started coding their posts trying to get @LUIGITORNADO to find his way here.
  11. The editor is pretty bad - one of the things we're striving to improve. There are a few ways you can add a link to an image, though. BBCode still works and gets auto-converted, so that's an option. Alternatively, you should be able to paste an image, highlight it, and then use the link button and pop in the URL. And yeah, these past 24-36 hours have been really hectic. If you'd like some context for why everything went down the way it did, I typed up a small bit of history that may provide some context. We tried as much as we could to continue running NSider2, but ultimately with CrowdGather at the reins there sadly was not much we could do.
  12. The cap on liking posts has already been removed, and there are no rank-based restrictions in place, nor are there plans to add any. The ability to do everything is possible the moment someone registers.
  13. Had about 25 minutes of downtime in the whee hours of the night to cut over some final things, run some updates, and perform a test restore from a backup in the case of disaster. I (intentionally) smacked the server pretty hard. Managed to break the database and then kick it all back into shape. All-in-all, downtime shouldn't have caused any actual disruption, since I timed when it when there was by far the least amount of activity. Pretty darned happy with how we're sitting at the moment and the site should continue running nigh-flawlessly.
  14. Adding to the above, you guys can change your titles after hitting ten posts. I think we can all agree that the colourfulness of NS2 was always quite inviting, so I'm excited to see what can happen if people are able to choose their own. Additionally, we may not need a ranking system. Right now the only non-staff/non-guest user group is "Member". I'd still like to add a couple of "advanced" user groups, though. For example, after hitting x number of posts you'd get a new user group and might get bold text too, or something. I don't want to include basic privileges in ranking up, though. The ability to edit posts and use a signature is there right out of the gate, and I don't think there's any reason to change that. If other privileges come through "ranking up", they would probably be for other features to be implemented in the future.
  15. Found a neat little plugin that lets admins change people's colours without needing to assign them a group. I played around with it and made @Yellow yellow, because, well, yellow. Will be interesting to see if I can expand it further so that you guys can punch in whatever colour you like.
  16. Don't worry, the site's look and feel in general should be getting a fairly extensive facelift after other issues and whatnot get sorted. There's a lot on our plate at the moment, so expect to see various placeholders and design choices scattered around while everything is fleshed out.
  17. Sometimes this theme randomly pops into my head, and then I spend hours on YouTube listening to its various amazing remixes.
  18. Really interesting perspective, Yuki! No forum lasts forever. NSider1 and NSider2 have both had plenty of spin-off sites that grew, exploded in popularity, then diminished in activity and ultimately died. Outsider, Clacky's Hut, TRoU, etc. Site administration and moderation is an interesting thing. It's generally some form of disagreement with "those in power" that encourages a spin-off site to rise. Outsider was formed because many people felt that NSider was too "kiddy" and strict. Etoh largely exists because of heavy punishment against many users. This website was developed to escape CrowdGather's frequent inattention and suddenly rapid tyranny. I do believe that this site will have some strong staying power, relatively speaking. NSider2 is downright painful to use, and there's nothing that any body of active staff can do about it. But really, Ninfora is still a niche website that's here to keep a long-standing community together for as long as possible. NSider1's unfathomably massive community was special. The subset of that community that became NSider2 was special. The consistently diminishing community of NSider2 was special. And a part of that community still exists. And it is still special. And it is right here, right now, for us to enjoy and cherish. NSider and the many forums that spawned around it have formed some of the most amazing, time-tested relationships that I've ever seen. A central love for Nintendo is what brought so many of us together so many years ago, and everyone's constantly evolving shared interests are what kept everyone in contact. I admittedly do dearly miss the original NSider forums at times. I also miss what NSider2 used to be early in its life. And I also miss what NSider2 used to be after it had a couple of years to mature into its own independent thing. But I also miss Outsider, and Clacky's Hut, and TRoU, and NSF, and so many other communities. The nostalgia can be overpowering at times. I truly, dearly miss those communities. But I know that - even if everyone were to be back together - it still wouldn't be the same. People change and move on. Life is inevitable. Many of my fondest memories were discussing games and topics that I could no longer derive much enjoyment from. Nothing lasts forever. It's important to enjoy the present and to be fond of the past, but it's also important to be realistic about the future. Do whatever you can to maintain the relationships that are dearest to you.
  19. We all discussed it and agreed to unban him. Chrom doesn't actually act fully autonomously when it comes to moderation even though it may look that way on the outside. But Viewtifulboy was banned for a really long time, so we figured he deserved another chance. We were even relatively lenient with him to give him the opportunity to try to fit in a bit more. Unfortunately, though, it did not work out and he did cross the line too many times. But he was given (more than) a fair chance.
  20. The redirection issue was "fixed" with the forum upgrade, but it absolutely trashed NSider2's rankings on Google and other search engines. NSider2 used to show up right near the top when searching for "nintendo forums", but now it's pushed all the way back to page three on Google.
  21. You've reminded me that I need to go back and play the GBC Legend of Zelda games at some point. Probably been close to fifteen years since I last played them now. .-.
  22. With Ninfora™ Forums© you can rank up to Koopa® 215% faster!* *average result based on a study of no participants. actual results may vary. if you have an erection lasting longer than four hours, please seek immediate medical attention.
  23. I have been trying to work with CrowdGather for years to get technical issues sorted. Even the most banal of fixes do not happen. There is only so much that an administrator can do. The ACP does grant a great deal of power, but it does not give a person the ability to fix up the truly awful back-end. CrowdGather must be up to its neck in technical debt, and it doesn't seem to be keen on digging out.
  24. Just for clarification, Chrom didn't outright "decide to create a new forum". This is a decision that's been talked about for several months. Creating a whole new site was the final option, but unfortunately it's the one that we ultimately needed to choose given CrowdGather's perpetual inattention to NSider2. I typed up a synopsis that shares the staff's end of the story, and explains why everything happened the way that it did. Basically, even when the discussion to create a new site was brought up, we still weren't dead set on the idea. But the discussion forced CrowdGather to play their hand. We were hopeful that maybe they would wake up and realise how much frustration they have caused over the past several years, giving us the option to either purchase the site or be more involved in its maintenance and development. But as usual, instead of openly communicating with us, they remained silent. We had no choice but to proceed with creating a new site, and only then did CrowdGather finally react. They reacted by outright banning Chrom, and revoking mine and Pelord's privileges to post and use the PM system.
  25. @chickadee: The PM limitation should hopefully be removed now. Let me know if it's not working, for whatever reason.
