  1. Do you really think that the "positive and hopeful" from Trump is grounded in reality? CDC director Robert Redfield wasn't so optimistic and doesn't believe we'd be able to see reasonably widespread vaccination available until mid-2021 at the earliest. He'd also commented that a mask can be the most effective tool available for combatting the pandemic in the US, yet it's still a politicised issue for reasons unknown to me. Whenever Trump seems optimistic, it seems like lies. "It'll be gone by Easter." Those Woodward recordings were awfully damning. Trump only seems to want the "economy" (i.e. the stock market) performing well for his election chances.

Nobody wants prices to go up (not consumers at any rate) but if that's the cost of the AAA, so realistically detailed that you can count the pores on Cloud's forehead graphics, then I guess so be it. I'll keep renting games, buying them during sales, and only occasionally buying games full priced day one.

I do see that being a problems but I feel we've been thru 2 gens now where the I don't parent may become meme. We live in age where everything gone digital for a while now, if someone doesn't know they are buying a machine if you buy games online and not physical. It's not the end of the world in the end, sure they will feel stupid that save money or spent more than they wanted. So yeah that could be a thing but when the ppl see prices of anything, we all have space in our brains where we say, 'that is too much'. We all have and depending how we perceive value and budget in general. No matter if one kept track that games were $60 for a while, perception will win everytime before purchase of any kind. I worry more about the games than the consoles, that is one time purchase (unless you finance the Xbox series) while game are continual thing so costs obviously goes up.

  6. Dang I can't capture video at the start of this game load up tingle. The reason why I wanted to do that is that I heard that the start up tingle for SM 3D All-Stars is the star get from SMG 2 and not SMG. Tell me if I a crazy or not? Listen from 21 secs to 25 secs Now here's the Star get theme for SMG 2 Listen up 4 seconds in only. Now tell they sound the same. For reference that they are not using SMG Star get theme, here it is: Not a music expert or can describe pitch sounds either but tho same melody but isn't this more sharper sounding than SMG 2? Just bringing this up because one; Nintendo should know they own music themes for their games and two why tease us this SMG 2 theme who wanted SMG 2 in this collection? I cannot overlook this or unhear it everytime I boot up this game.

  7. I got these cool Joy-Con skins for pre-ordering the game at GameStop. I’m not much for using skis, but still neat, nonetheless. Did anyone else that pre-ordered the game get any cool bonuses?

  8. Alright, didn't have much time to try out too much but I just gotta say... Holy shit, the upscaling makes SM64 look fantastic. Granted I have a 4K capable 65" Smart TV but still it's fabulous regardless. I can't wait to get into Sunshine and Galaxy.

  10. Fun thought experiment. Here are some characters that came to mind for me: Alice (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland): Her weapon is a rabbit-themed teapot/water cannon that splashes tea in a small area. It can hit enemies directly and the tea remains on the ground for one turn to slightly damage enemies that walk through it. Her special is a tea party that sprays more tea in a wider area of effect that deals more damage than the standard attack, plus allies that walk through the tea recover a small amount of steam. Victor Frankenstein: A snake-themed syringe pistol (snakes for caduceus) that can heal allies. His special requires him to collect body parts from fallen enemies. Once he has enough he can create a monstrous ally that fights alongside the team with basic melee attacks. Friday (Robinson Crusoe): A parrot-themed bow and arrow that can arc over obstacles. His special gives his current steam to nearby allies at a 1:1 ratio, but if everyone is grouped together it's more useful (e.g. it costs him one steam to give all three allies one steam each). Zhu Bajie (Journey to the West): Let's throw some Asian influence in here too, why not. His weapon is a nine-toothed rake, pig themed of course, that fires the prongs of the rake like a short-range shotgun blast. His special allows him to transform, increasing the power of his attacks and recovering a massive amount of steam. However, after using it he becomes lazy and is unable to act on his next turn.

  12. The only one I never owned was Galaxy, since I've never had a Wii. I played 64 on the 64, but didn't actually own it til the DS came out. Definitely gonna be playing Sunshine first, its my favorite mario game I usually replay it on the GCN every few years anyway just bc its endless fun so I'm hyped to have it on switch now!

Depends on the retailer of course, but when working at TRU we had to inform customers buying a PSP GO that it was a completely digital platform and that it will not play physical media. Product knowledge training around it specifically kept calling that fact out. Of course, that doesn't guarantee anything if the associate doesn't do their part.

It's gonna be a nightmare now for like parents that aren't too familiar with gaming or hardware who try to get something for their kids. Say they buy the discless version of the PS5 or next Xbox because it's cheaper, and then make the mistake of trying to buy disc games for it like they normally would... I can see that being all too common, unless the retailers speak up enough as to say this and that are not compatible, but not all of the sellers/workers may be that elaborate.

I don't see that happening because this upcoming gen. Games come to Switch but with 2 caveats, can it run on Switch and the Switch tax when it comes to size of the cartridge. The former was is all but gone but latter is still a issue so with that cost that the consumer have to play I don't see Nintendo or any other publisher charging $70 for Switch games. I think that might be a thing this generation if developers don't see they getting the dough they got when games cost $60. There's always equation to business outside of inflation that you make money much faster if you raise the cost versus taking the hit and will get the cost back more with little more time. That is pretty much happening with the next gen consoles for the Xbox Series X, S and PS5 disc and disc-less versions. What's gonna offset the digital version is what the consumer buys back their games digitally from their respective game stores online. If they can find a balance like they did there for their digital consoles or offer some PO incentive like DLC or something I think it might be worth the cost because yeah develop cost are going up work for it by providing more bang for the consumers buck.

The obsession with game length is so funny to me. Like I don't always want to blow through a game but a game that's padded to hell and back is not automatically better than one with leaner pacing. Star Fox 64 takes less than an hour to beat and it's one of the best games ever probably. I can beat that RE2 remake in less than 2 hours and it was incredible. I remember when the FFVII remake came out and people were complaining that it was "only" 37 hours long. The entire original game is like that long lol

I, for one, welcome this change, as it means most retailers will list the games at $69.99. nice

  18. I had my first experience of a panic attack the other week. Symptoms were hyper-awareness and shortness of breath. I felt it again yesterday. This week we've had smoke ridden skies and it's brought back my anxiety of climate change. I think my biggest fears aren't anything immediate, but what the distant future holds. I think this year has shown me that I'm not guarunteed a "normal" or "comfortable" life that of which my parents and grandparents lived. Instead I'll have to worry evading wildfires in my future as I look to home ownership, while staying competitive in a cut-throat industry to support whatever wellbeing I'll have. In other news, I've started playing sequels to some games I finished almost 7 years ago: Ace Attorney 3 and SMT4 Apocalypse. Both of these games are great. It's weird to think I had such a long gap before playing these games, but if I played them much sooner, I'd felt burnt out.

  19. Texan here, and yeah, we're doing terribly. Our governor is a trumpian invertebrate who goes along with whatever the president wants, which means premature reopening for "the economy," a (now rescinded order), forbidding municipalities to enforce mask mandates (Abbott later reversed course and made masks mandated and the charts speak for themselves--masking works), and now he is requiring schools to offer in-person classes (parents can elect distance learning, but it's the parents', not school district's, decision). And we're going to lessen restrictions again, and it feels like sans the mask mandate, we're doing everything we did in late May/early June that led to our summer spike. To illustrate how bad our summer spike is; we had ICUs at full baseline capacity--like, it was genuinely scary. I fully believe Abbott knows full well he's going to increase spread again; the GOP is only concerned about creating a sense of normalcy to win the November election, everyone/everything else be damned. If Trump loses the election, Abbott will probably read the room and focus on his own re-election 2022, and probably take COVID seriously. Which basically means Texas' ability to recover from this situation is, in some sense, dependent on on electing the orange out.
