  1. Yeah, it has been about half a week since this announcement came down but it's hard not to think on it and realize how monumental it was. Seeing the full slate of titles Square Enix has already released on Switch and then seeing even more coming our way it's the existence of the numbered entries beginning with FFVII that holds a certain significance with Nintendo platform owners. After more than 21 years a Nintendo platform will finally be able to see numbered Final Fantasy titles extend beyond FF - FFVI. Unless you count FFXII Revenant Wings on DS but that was more of a spinoff that was fortunate enough to be graced with the numbering theme of its predecessor. They could have done just as well simply calling it FF Revenant Wings or FF Ivalice Tactics. But other than that Nintendo platforms have been host to numerous remakes, remasters and compilations of the first six titles as well as spinoffs and experimental entries that had their own high points here and there. Granted, it's just existing ports and it might not seem all that worth it to celebrate being late to the party after all this time but for those who know, or even better those who remember witnessing Square's transition away from Nintendo during that time, seeing the announcement during the Direct was a pretty big deal. The Nintendo 64 holds a lot of great, one of a kind gaming experiences and memories but it still managed to miss out on a lot and the experience of seeing the latest Final Fantasy at the time miss it was of those moments that made you realize it was a major lost opportunity. From there on out Nintendo platforms would never again see a post FFVI numbered entry. Come 2019, however that will all change.

  3. I'm afraid I don't know if joining a family group would work any differently between members of different regions. I just asked the group owner directly if they could invite me, and after they accepted they asked for my email. I clicked the link in the automated message and I instantly joined the group and could see who else was in it on the Nintendo Account website. You don't do any of this on the Switch itself, just on another device. When it came to payment this was something we did privately, I personally settled on paying the owner a fraction of the price for a year to be a part of the group.

  4. I don't usually create topics here but I figure that if I don't make this topic, no one will. I have been following this fanslation effort for years (it started around 2012), and earlier this September, Metal Slader Glory FINALLY got fully translated into English. For those who don't know, Metal Slader Glory is a second-party Nintendo title developed and published by HAL Laboratory, released only for the Famicom on August 30, 1991. Metal Slader Glory is by far the largest Famicom/NES game by file size, and was later re-released as a Director's Cut on the Super Famicom in 2000, being the last official game released for that system, and eventually the virtual console. Metal Slader Glory is an epic text-adventure game with a complex space wars premise and a mecha/sci-fi presentation not unlike Xenogears. In Japan it is considered a long-standing classic and Yoshimura Hoshi's magnum opus, but internationally, it is virtually unheard of. So many gamers lament about unlocalized games, like Mother 3 or Gyakuten Kenji 2, but those same gamers haven't known what they have been missing for 27 years. MSG pushed the limits of the Famicom hardware and is generally considered the best adventure game for the system, at least in Japan, and I made this topic in order to increase the game's awareness and exposure. I won't link directly to the ROM patch because normally I am against emulation, but right now, this is the only way Nintendo's greatest retro adventure game can be experienced. Check the bottom of the game's Wikipedia page for the link to the patch. Will you be playing this game, now finally fully translated? Have you heard of it before? What are your thoughts? Discuss.

  5. What a very Nintendo rip-off those NES controllers are. $60 and they have no functionality outside of the NSO-NES games. Do we have any confirmation for whether all accounts on a family plan must be on the same Switch console? Because otherwise we could pool together and save big time.

  6. While out today I was near a BestBuy, so I decided to stop by, and they indeed are going to have NSO cards. Though, they didn't have any (even asked an employee about them) I assume for whatever reason they aren't allowed to sell them yet, otherwise they'd be out. I'll just run by my local GameStop on Tuesday and see if they have any, as it's just down the road from my house. Hey, at least I have a week to get one with the free trial all. *Pic in spoiler do to size*

  8. The dataminers looking into what Switch firmware 6.0.0 saw that NES and SNES controller will be compatible with the Switch meaning that we're due for the SNES games and controllers, that or the 6.0.0 update is going to be around for awhile. This is what they found:

  9. Wow that poster brings me back AB. In high school I had my bedroom door plastered with Nintendo Power posters, mostly Gamecube era stuff including that Melee poster. A poster of Ultimate's full roster would be pretty sweet, especially if it was a high quality one and not just a standard paper poster.

  10. The more I see characters getting added to that massive 'Everyone is here!' image, the more I want that as a pre-order bonus or My Nintendo reward. I don't care how ridiculously long a poster like that would be...It'd look damn awesome on my wall. Plus, I think it's about time I updated my SSBM poster from Nintendo Power (unfortunately never got the Club Nintendo SSB4 posters).

  11. LOL.... Naw, its not like that at all.... Hurricane Floyd, Matthew, and a few others have actually put the hurt down in this area for me directly though... If this one hadn't have weakened before it hit land and it had stayed on its course of going straight west instead of that southwest curl I am pretty sure my town would have gotten it a lot worse.

  13. My internet is back and I can't believe no one here posted this: Watch the 2nd vid. @Laclipsey Nice post. I do recall that and was going post that but I forgot to here. I think this must of been mentioned in Famitsu article and then translated by Source Gaming like 2 weeks back or so. I could be wrong but that's most likely where this news was shared.

  14. As NSider's unofficial Sakurai fanatic, I need a link to wherever Sakurai mentioned this IMMEDIATELY. If Isaac's in Smash I'm gonna splooge all over this forum. I mean, compared to the other Golden Sun protagonists I don't care for him at all, but hot h*eck is Golden Sun precious to me.

  15. Here's something interesting. Nintendo just renewed Golden Sun's trademark. Not only that, but Sakurai pointed out that the Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Nintendo page is back up. From what I understand, Nintendo didn't need to renew the trademark yet, having done so as recently as last year. Between all of this and that tweet that went up on Sakurai's Twitter a few weeks ago, it's looking real good for Isaac.
