  1. Quick Look Footage: Today (2/11) Nintendo invited me to the Nintendo Switch event in D.C. and it was a ton of fun. As you can see from the quick footage above, it was like a big party for the Switch. The first game I got to play was Splatoon 2. I got to play this with the Switch pro-controller, which feels damn good in the hands and it took me one match to get the hang of the controls. since I was so used to the how the gamepad feels when playing Splatoon. I played mostly with the new Splat Dualies, which are a lot of fun. Out of the 3 matches I played my team won and I came in 2nd over all and had the most kills. Next up I played some Puyo Puyo Tetris, which was one of the games I really wanted to play the most....Is that odd? Anyway, I played a mode called Switch (no pun intended), which switched back and forth from Puyo Puyo and Tetris during the match. It was a best a best 2 out of 3 and I ended up winning it thanks to my x3 Puyo chains on the 3 round (BTW, this was my first time ever playing Puyo Puyo). The only reason I lost was, because I messed up placing a block in Tetris do to my thumb accidentally slipping on the pro-controller's d-pad and doing a fast drop and instead of moving left or right. For some reason I had this happen a few times. This game is a ton of fun and at $40 I think I'm going to have to get this when it comes out. After that, it was time for some ARMS! This was the first time I got my hands on the joy-cons and this these's are some legit little controllers that didn't feel too small in my hands. I played against on of the reps there and this game is a lot of fun with the motion controls. The controls are very responsive and so satisfying. It was a best 2 out of 3. Final round, we both had a sliver of life left and the rep was like "Yes! You're almost dead!" and I was like "Nope! I got my special!". I used it and won. He looked at me like Da fuck?! really?! and I LOL'd hard. He said I was one of the better players that he's seen, which was odd, because it was my first time and I did't think I was that good. Next I played some Mario Kart 8. Deluxe It's MK8 with new characters and a proper battle mode. Not much to say. You know what you're getting here. This was the first time I got to play in handheld mode. The screen is very crisp and bright...looks damn good. Though, I thought the shoulder / trigger buttons felt a bit odd. IDK, I guess I'm just so used to how the gamepad feels. I'll just have to get used to it. Oh, I also got to play with the wheel. It's pretty much a smaller Wii Wheel with some sweet shoulder buttons. What's cool is you can play with or without motion controls when using it. After that, it was my turn to play some Zelda. Yeah, as you can hear in the above video you needed a ticket they were handing out to let people play in shifts. They wanted to get as many people in as possible, since you can quickly lose yourself in this game. I only got to play for about 20 mins. and just got to run around a bit and fight some enemies. I looks and runs good on both the TV and on the handled. BTW, this was the first time I got to try taking the system and out of the dock and putting it in. I'm surprised and how fast the process it. You take it out, BAM! it's on the handheld. You put it in, BAM! it's on the TV. It pretty much works as fast as it does in Nintendo's videos. Other games I got to play were, Super Bomerman R, 1, 2, Switch and Sonic Mania. Bomberman is what you'd expect and is crazy fun with 8 people. BTW, it only runs at 30 FPS and was a bit choppy at times, but not too bad. When playing this, this was the first time I got to use the joy-cons sideways. It works great, but may not be something you want to use all the time. Also, it felt kind of odd with the control stick and buttons being so close, though you easily get used to it. I feel they could have spaced them out a bit more and not comprised things. 1, 2, Switch is fun for what it is, but not $50 fun. I feel like they will have to drop the price or pack it in to get it to sell. Sadly, I didn't get to play any of the minigames the really showed off HD rumble. Sonic Mania, well...it's 2D Sonic as you know and love it. I played with the R joy-con sideways this time and it felt odd using a stick instead of a d-pad for a 2D game. I also go to mess around swapping joy-cons and what not. This was how I got to try the joy-con grip for the first time. It works well, though If you're serious about TV play, you'll probably want to invest in a pro-controller. Some other things I want to mention... When I played MK8 in handheld mode the back of the tablet was warm. IDK if they was from being on all day, but more graphically intense games will most likely make the system warm. Also, I'd highly recommend using the strap attachment if your using the joy-cons sideways and playing games that require the SL and SR buttons. You can use it with out the strap attachment, but the buttons aren't that easy to press, since they're sunk in a bit. Some Swag I got: ^ Switch snacks (goldfish and gummy bears) / ^ A cookie and pin

  2. AWW YEAH! 😎 From what I played at the Switch event, the new stuff is super fun, especially the Splat Dualies. I wonder if this means the game isn't too far off from that date?

  4. Bomberman at an inconsistent 30 fps is a bit funky, hopefully the final version cleans that up. Anyway, everything else sounds great and pretty interesting to see the new wheel has triggers on it. Also: Make Switch Great Again #MSGA

Since I had trouble actually finding this anywhere: effective weapon damage increases total unit attack by 1.5x. (For comparison, WTA is a 1.2x total attack increase.)

  8. Considering the Switch's design and proposed take anywhere approach to gaming, having the unit ONLY come with 32 onboard seems ridiculously low. 64-128 would have been more acceptable as a starting point. I'll probably get a large card later on or when more details hit about the Virtual Console/eShop offerings coming to Switch. It was a good sign though that there is an expansion slot to allow for HUGE cards though....

  10. Hey gang this is a thread where we post pictures of the game boxart for games releasing on Nintendo Switch from standard edition to special edition/collector's edition. More coming in the future. I'll admit as one of my friends told me since there is a lot of red theme going on with the Nintendo Switch it would be fitting if the cases were red as well.

  12. I wanted to make a creations thread of my own after doing a few pieces over the week, but I'm not sure where exactly to put the content thread. For now, I guess I'll just show off some Valentine's Day art I did that's inspired by Metroid Prime Hunters.

  18. I didn't really dislike anything about it. It feels good and works great! ...Well, maybe not having an actual d-pad, but I can probably live with that. I just thought the shoulder and trigger buttons felt odd...I guess different would be the correct word. I felt this way even playing in handheld mode. Though, this is most likely because I'm so used to how goof the gamepad feels, especially for a tablet with buttons.

    Soooo Zelda board?

Since you have the eyes to read that I focused on the individual more than necessary, you should also have the eyes to read that it's been acknowledged and we're already past it. Selectively choosing to respond only to that here at this point doesn't benefit the discussion or make you any better, so unless you have anything else to say I think it'd be better to respectfully move on from it. More importantly, the prospect of a Zelda board doesn't seem to have any substantial merit at this point in time and it's not anticipated to change in the near future, but it's always possible if our userbase demonstrates a solid reason on why having more than one board to talk about Zelda would actually be worthwhile. As I've already explained, using a second board for the purpose of filtering out spoilers for Breath of the Wild seems fairly moot, as it's been shown that our members can always just openly discuss sensitive information anywhere without consideration for their audience. Other reasons we've heard like "it'd be nice to have" don't really cut it either unfortunately, because others can argue that it'd be nice if we used the one board already in place to discuss Zelda too. Whether one exists or not, we still hope that our members can continue to discuss the game or the series effectively, and if we see that something would probably benefit from a change, then it should be no trouble to consider our options at the right time and place and make them accordingly with others' input.

  26. Marathoned Knights of Sidonia over a few days last week. Turned out much better than I thought and I really liked a lot of the technology details and sci fi elements with it. My only gripe being the jarring frame rate at times and the animation at points wasn't the greatest considering some of the other CG anime that are out there but it was still a pretty good show.

I'm gonna guess the Happy Mask Salesman. I'm not familiar enough with the Zelda universe to go too in-depth with figuring this one out for certain.

  31. Ohhh, okay. See, I haven't gotten around to playing Galaxy or its sequel, in spite of having them both. All I know for sure about Rosalina is that she's aesthetically pretty cool for a Mario character. Also, Lumas.

  32. Found more. Favourite picture is still the one I included in my previous post, but these are also very nice. One of my two favourite ships at the current time--probably because at this point in the story, Yang has every reason to be displeased with Blake. This makes for some palpable tension in Shipland. Likely won't actually be realised, though: Blake seems to have a tumultuous attraction to Sun, while Yang has implied no attraction to females in general (but has for males). They're close, though, and it's nice to think that the series could defy your typical romantic progression at some point.

  41. I checked my local GameStop for an Xbox 360 copy of GTA IV since it just went backwards compatble. The PS3 version is $5. 3 days ago it was $5. They wanted $20 for a used copy. I went across the street and got it from Walmart for $8.99. Fuck GameStop.
