  1. So guys. I have some exciting news from today that I want to share. Before Japanese class today my professor pulled two of my classmates and I out of the room. She told us that every year she gets the opportunity to invite up to 3 of the best students across all her classes to go to Princeton University for some fancy reception like thing hosted by a Japanese Teachers Association. 1) This is exciting and I feel super special 2) I have to give a speech in Japanese to a room full of Japanese instructors and I'm kind've pooping myself thinking about it

  6. I called my D-Senator Donnelly about the Sessions and DeVos vote. His rep said he is voting against DeVos, but hasn't made a statement on Sessions. I said my opinion on the Senator would be severely crippled if he voted in favor of Sessions.

  16. Not what I was expecting when I saw the headline with a new Zelda subtitle. It's pretty interesting how much Nintendo is embracing other forms of advertising and merchandising though, and this sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Has anyone here played an escape room scenario before?

  21. A while back Kimishima did say that if the demand was there they would increase production on Switch from its original 2 million unit allottment. Well, seems that decision is being pushed through as plans will be going through to increase Switch production. Side note, apparently current preorder status is good! Shamelessly taken from GAF but it's too cool not to post!

  24. In hindsight, Strong Bad really was onto something when it came to blue hair. I'm not sure what's caused it, but blue hair really seems to have grown in popularity over the past few years. And whenever I see blue hair, I flash back to that 2003 cartoon in which Strong Bad makes a joke about anime hairstyles. You gotta have blue hair.

  25. "Senate Democrats deployed a dramatic eleventh-hour maneuver to deny committee votes to two of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks Tuesday, arguing that those nominees had lied to them. Senators on the Finance Committee were set to vote on Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and Steve Mnuchin to lead the Treasury Department. But on Tuesday morning, they simply didn’t show up for the votes, denying Republicans the quorum they needed to move forward to confirmation. At least one Democrat needs to be present for the vote to happen. " http://huff.to/2kLZViS " to them. Finally!

  26. Usually it's the opposite in the states, you'll have people who go out of their way to try and request anything with either codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone and oxycontin in them because they're addictive. Which is why everyone looks at me crazy when I say I've got no reaction to them. Lower doses are like vitamins in that I feel literally no different, and higher doses will usually have me more alert. Really fucked with surgeons when I was little. But now it's on my medical record.

  27. The past over 12 or 13 years our family has had the pleasure of caring for 16 hamsters. Anywhere from two to three at a time, typically. Unfortunately within that time we've had a few we regrettably lost a bit before their time due to things that could have been prevented, but it was usually things that didn't come to mind or seem quite as obvious to take precautions against at the time. I've loved each and every hamster we've ever had, even the ones that were not my own but loved and cared for them as if they were. I've taken the loss of any of them quite hard and personally, as it doesn't seem fair their lives are so brief on this planet...and it hurts a lot when you especially lose one before their time. Some of the times I've dealt with them in their final hours or minutes feels like something that could have come out of a movie because of how events unfolded. The thing to remember is to know that if you were honestly good to your companion while they were here, and you cherish the time and memories you gave and made with them, and you gave them the best kind of life you could offer them with the best of intentions, then you should try and take solace in all of that and know your companion most likely appreciated the life you gave them. Dunno how religious you are, but to me in my view, there's a place for creatures like hamsters and chihuahuas up in Heaven...and in my view, you will surely meet them once again someday and they will be happily waiting for you. I try to believe that there is never truly a 'final goodbye', but only...'I'll see you later.' Until then, I like to think they'll always be watching over us and waiting for us again someday.

  30. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/01/nintendo_download_2nd_february_europe I wonder if we get it this week too? I loved it when I got it on WiiVC. The game is great and the kangaroos add an additional layer of strategy on how to play the game. Not sure if it still keeps the 5p option for multiplayer.

  32. I've had pretty good luck with Toxapex, Clefable and Salamence. If you lead with Pex and Baneful Bunker, it's likely someone's getting poisoned that turn, and then you can usually switch to Salamence to shrug off any physical hits, or Clefable to shrug off any specials. Salamence can be swapped with Gyarados since they both have Intimidate and immunity to Earthquakes but that's up to you.

  39. I had two recent passing with my cats, one in August, and the other in October. Marbles, our fat lovable little pile of fluff, one night just went in the worst way possible, waking up to cries and seeing blood on the floor with him layed over and next to it, had me rush and hold onto him, bewildered and confused on what to do, he basically passed right in my arms, but not without fighting to live and pretty much biting the my foot as i sat on the floor. Pretty much after the autopsy the next day, cancerous cells basically erupting were found to be his cause of death. Sadly, I blamed everyone and anyone at the time for not being fast enough to help him, and even so, i also blamed myself. Which honestly I am sure anyone may have went through it to, those feelings that is, everyone at some point with a massive loss does. The million and one what if scenarios and why this or that because things just suddenly happened. It took myself days to get to the fact that there was nothing anyone could of honestly done. However, his death helped bring insight into the next one to go, and that even with medical care, it's sometimes not always going to work out. Come early October, I took my own cat, Mittens, into the vet to get looked at. Previously he had a simple failure in the liver going on, which after a year of meds before October and watching his food intake, we found that after numerous tests and xrays it was once again cancer. This time however, it basically was a massive blob of a tumor, pushed his internal organs right up against his spine. This cat however, was my partner in crime, was with me for practically all my life for 25 years, and I was not going to let him just live in pain. After hearing the news, I was given the choice to outright do surgery, ignore and go home with him, or do an exploratory with honors, which is basically vets will go through the surgery preparation, but make sure that the tumor could be removed, if it could, i'd then pay for the surgery ontop of the table prep. Sadly, during work, I received a call as soon as the vets started working. It was not just in one spot, but the cancer alone was simply everywhere, One giant tumor, and multiple miniature cysts of tumors lining his rib cage area, there was no real chance of success given his age, and the amount of blood loss during the removal of the tumors. It was then I had to make perhaps the most hardest decision of my own life, to close him up and let him simply come back home and face the same unnerving fate Marbles did, or put him down. While the sensible thing was to put him down, it is not always the easiest sensible thing to do, to reach that decision, because even then I still wanted to take him back home with me, but knew it would be a selfish thing to do, looking down to my own foot and feeling the pain still swelling from Marbles not but two months ago, and remembering holding him in my arms as he struggled to fight to live with him slowly going from internal bleeding. I had to simply put him down. I was assured that he would go peacefully and that he would not feel a thing due to already being under anesthesia. But the rest of that day simply ended up being a haze, keeping myself at work and trying to pull through and focus only on my job was all I myself could do until I got home, until simply letting it all out. Not all was lost however, as the vet left me with some parting wisdom. For us, it is hard to let go of things we cherish. However for pets. They don't worry about days ahead, your next job interview, or when the next meal is. For them, all they truly do is live in the moment, no matter what that moment may bring. Take solace in knowing them for as long as you have, cherish the moments you had, be they the most silly and absurd things to things that ticked you off, remember them, as I am sure they still will remember you for when you meet once again. As for how I coped with the passing of a partner in crime for 25 years, well, Kunimi, my little warrior of light, was how I coped. A small little kitten found under the engine of my car, was unable to get out due to how stuck she was, ended up coming into my life after getting her out and bringing her in, ironically, she is called my little warrior of light, cause she ended up coming into my life in my hour of need merely the same night I got home from making the decision. And of course due to trying to numb my senses in FFXIV to escape the torture reality has brought upon me, she is called Kunimi due to whom my characters name is. A fierce and feisty miqo'te whom fights with unyielding determination, Kunimi Solstice. Which funny enough, the lil thing showed the same type of traits for the first few days of being brought in. Still does now after all this time, but if anything now she loooooves cuddling and curling up next to my neck in bed ontop of it all.
